I love that despite being a rock star with a burgeoning career ahead of him, Chris still takes the time to be a RUclipsr and Grace us with great content ❤🤘🎸
Chris, I very nearly sold my laney head and cab this week. I took it up to my office and thought I would give it one more play before the buyer picked it up. It sounded amazing??? I am guessing the difference in the two rooms, one with carpet and furniture muffled some of the tones I was missing. My office, much more open, tile floor and nothing to act as a baffle gave it new life. Moral of the story - everything has its place, sometimes it is an amp and "that" space it needs to breathe and sometimes it is amps stacked on top of each other against a wall hitting you on every part of your body. Have a great 2023 Chris. I hope your year is as good as you have made my 2022!!! BTW - I called the buyer and apologized but I could not sell it. They understood - as any guitar player would.
You can never have enough different amplifiers. Through the years of my playing I find as my playing matures and changes so do my amplifier needs. Very cool, thanks for sharing Chris.
Very nice! A 100 watt Marshal and 4 by 12 in your bedroom? Well, I'll give you and your parents credit! Your neighbours must have not been too pleased though. Great show as always and I'm very pleased whenever you have a new one. Thank you!
I enjoyed this for the collection and hearing Chris demonstrate. I am happy to know there are so many amp nerds other than myself that there are videos like this for us.
I got a tiny Bugera that’s got .5,1,5 watt power. It’s a great little tube amp. Yesterday was the first day my 6 year allowed me to play in her presence! 😅😂😂😂
Nice interesting collection…had a blackface super reverb 4 altec landing 10’s it was beautiful with a green gem light ..ampeg vt 22 Marshall 1968 50 watt plexi..fender pro reverb…I miss the plexi 68 50 watt the most I’m 68 so …my days didn’t have attenuators for amps..now I use a tone king gremlin…for home..retired from playing out …enjoy yr channel…also had a bass man …love yr Marshall 62combo..🤙🏻🙂🇺🇸
I had one of thise H/H cabs, weighed an absolute tonne. The final time it made it up the stairs at my parents house was the last time it made any journey intact. I got a Marshall Jubilee shortly after with a much more manageable 2x12, so the cabinet’s final journey was in pieces after I broke it up and removed it from the house, rather than struggle down the stairs with it intact one final time. 😆😆😆
Nice range of amps in your collection. Big loud ones for those outdoor or deep stage gigs. Lower watt ones to drive close up. Yeah, I think I could learn to love those stacks. Rock on, Chris.
Crazy cool amp collection. That’s definitely an Uncle Larry aka Tom Bukovac 335 special…he inspired all of us to start playing them or wanting to play them after we heard the tones he was getting out of them. I think I remember a comment saying he inspired you to buy one. I’ve always been a huge fan and you introduced me to the Cali76 which I’m forever grateful for…but any fan or Uncle Larry is more than cool with me 😂 but you’re an amazing player and even when I thought you couldn’t get any better, hearing your recent solos show you can always improve and fine tune your style and your playing. Great video mate!
The TSL 100 had a design issue on a primary circuit board. That issue resulted in a circuit board replacement, which may have contributed to the sound change you mentioned. I have a dead one in the corner. It plays for a bit, but dies after heating up.
Love this. I wish I could have a wall of the last 28 years of my own guitar amp history. Some gems, some absolute dogs that were supposed to be good and "the one" that inevitably got sold to finance the next one.
So nice to see the amp journey you have taken very inspirational although you always sound like you no matter the amp or pairing. may the new year bring love and peace to all of you and to cardinal black too
H&H cab, takes me back. In late 70's my 60's era AC30TB flaked out on me before a gig and I borrowed my friends H&H 100W solid state head (which had been dropped at some point and now distorted on channel 1 in a pleasing way) used in conjuction with an H&H 4x12 like the one shown. Got me through a slew of gigs till I could get the AC30 fixed.
Thanks for the great run through of your amps you’ve had over the years. Your personality is shining through more every video you do. HNY to you & family. Catch you in Islington in April
Nice collection, Chris. Funny to hear you mention Woolworth... There was one on the main street in my town when I was a child, back in the 80's. I actually bought my first cassette tape there, GNR Appetite. I think it closed down probably around 1988-1990 or so. I had all but forgotten it ever existed until you mentioned the chain in this video. Hope you have a wonderful 2023, take it easy!
That Blackstar sounded very harsh, I love the Victory Dutches. I own one myself and can testify to how good it sounds. With that amount of amps I'm a feeling a little less guilty on owning three amps and two speaker cabinets.
Oh my life. Yes Audition was Woolworth. I had a combo version of that as my very first amp. All I remember was the constant earth buzz on it with single coils. Bought in 1975
Thanks Chris, there is no such thing as too many the correct answer is always one more 😊 Do you have a favorite guitar/amp selection? Maybe you also could have a Vox for some Rory Gallagher tone? Happy New Year
I loved my TSL 60 watt combo on stage with the master volume set at 1 o'clock. Really responsive but pretty loud. Nice to have 3 channels on the foot switch, made it easy to cover the whole set list.
Did much change from Buck & Evans to Cardinal Black gear wise, or do you tend to stick with the same rig? Also are Buck & Evans still going these days?
That's a nice collection! So envy! I have be eyeing JCM800 for years. Even though now they have the studio combo version, I still couldn't bear to spend the money and buy that for myself. The thought of what will I deprive of my kids and family from having if I spend so much money just for my hobby always prevent me from buying. I wish one day I would receive one in my dream as a birthday gift.
very nice collection !!!! ....I don't see an Ampeg V4 anywhere there.....if you get a chance - find a mid 70s one and discover it's insane headroom!!!! ...pedals just explode in the amp !!! ...my fave amplifier hands down!!!.....Happy New Year Chris and to everyone else!!! ....he safe and healthy !!!....
That JCM800 combo is great. People often overlook the Marshall combos beyond the bluesbreaker in favour of heads, but my goodness, some of them are awesome. My prized possession is my 1979 JMP 2103 100W, which is a 2x12 combo version of the JMP 2203 head. There are lots of the 50W 2104 combos about, but many of the 2103s were unfortunately converted to heads like the 2203 because they were just so heavy.
Thank you for another year of your shows, always insightful and full of marvellous tones. Also two great shows - Steelhouse and Exeter, any chance of getting on the bill of Steelhouse again this year. Hope you have a great New Year and more success in '23.
First, whoever you are, noodling is cool and Chris does it too. It lets your brain sing without worrying and you can become better friends with your guitar. Second, AAS, like GAS, is evidently a thing. As collectors know, the correct number of amps or guitars to have in your collection is "one more." (Edit) P.S. There must be about a ton of amps and cabs sitting along that wall over a fairly small footprint of around 20 square feet. I hope the house is well-built!
Ok Chris has 3 Fenders that all sound very similar . I'd sell 2 and replace with better and more versatile Mesa Boogies. Of the Marshall's I'd only keep the JCM800 :)
So happy to not see here those expensive "TR"'s not made for musicians, they are more for lawyers and doctors 😂😭😭😭. Another example tone comes mostly from your own hands 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Oh the Wonder of Woolworths, I bought a Woolworths Audition combo, my very first amp and I still remember it fondly but have no idea if it still survives today as I bought it in the early '70's!!
Swart amps have good tweed tone. I only have a few more amps than your wall. Soldano, Vox, Friedman, Rienhardt, Dr. Z, 65 Amps, Tungsten, Carr, Louis Electric, 3 Monkeys, Victoria, BC Audio, Fender, Mesa and other stuff
I'm just going to show this to my chick when she says "Darling, get the hell off Reverb. Don't you have enough noisey boxes?" You're doing a great service to humanity.
The Auditoria reminded me of my Selmer 15w little giant with it's optional and variable tremolo. Must be at least 60 years old now and aprt from the damaged to the front cover during one of my many house moves, and the worst for wear protective cover it still works. All it needs is a proper guitarist to go with it; or maybe I a can still make it happen? Thanks for Friday Fretworks and you're ongoing commitment to it. Always a great listen. Happy New Year.
Thx for the kind words :) we’re a small shop in Poland and have been busy in 2022 working on amps and not updating our website :-D I guess it’s time to do that! But you can reach out to us here or on instagram and talk shop, I love to talk tone - cheers!
Oh and yes, trainwreck is a big influence… those are my favorite amps in general. The circuit is unique but definitely learned a lot studying Ken’s work!
Glad you rated the alchemist. I've had all combinations of it. Great tone but for something line 6 and not boutique, consistency was poor between them and never quite found one as good as my first. Ok.... I shouldn't have sold first one.. I know.
I'd say we are all glad you had such supportive parents. They must has seen your potential for greatness. Success.
Isn't that every parent's job Noah? encourage, nourish and grow..
Sure , but it doesn’t mean it actually happens … would be fair to say more often it does not … so ya a fair comment to note
I bought an amp (Marshall 50) in 1977. I still use that amp today. I've never felt the need to get another one. 🤪
I love that despite being a rock star with a burgeoning career ahead of him, Chris still takes the time to be a RUclipsr and Grace us with great content ❤🤘🎸
Can you do your guitar collection next?!
Wow Chris !!! It’s a show!! Happy new year!! 😊😊😊😊❤
Yes please!!!
That would be a very, very long video
Yes please
🎸🎸🎸
Woah! Really love your collection and so proud to be a part of it. Sounds great in your hands - much better than mine ;) heck yes!!
Chris Buck could play through a Fender Frontman practice amp and still sound amazing.
He could play through my Hamilton beach blender and sound good!
If Chris drove my car it wuld sound better !
I always dig watching your right hand!!
Chris, I very nearly sold my laney head and cab this week. I took it up to my office and thought I would give it one more play before the buyer picked it up. It sounded amazing??? I am guessing the difference in the two rooms, one with carpet and furniture muffled some of the tones I was missing. OMG. THE BLACKSTAR!
My man Chris doing this in one take is incredible!
You can never have enough different amplifiers.
Through the years of my playing I find as my playing matures and changes so do my amplifier needs.
Very cool, thanks for sharing Chris.
Chris speaks through his riffs/cords. And he speaks loud and clearly. Love it to bits, love his style and would like to be half of a player you are.
Wow, my back hurts just looking at your amp wall. Happy new year to you, your family and everyone at Buck/Cardinal Black.
Yep....thats a young man's collection...or amp tech if you are wealthy...😆
I was feeling guilty having bought a new guitar until I saw your amp collection. Now I’m ok. 👽
That JCM800 sounds epic 👌🏻 great video 👍🏻
Is that a JVM or a JCM 800? The one in the first row of amps?
Ohhh now I see what you mean…I jumped the gun, watched a little more and then heard it lol sounds killer!
some how I missed this video, but I am here now.
Cheers Chris and thanks for a great 2022 of Friday Fretworks! Here's hoping for a rockin' bluesy 2023!
That JCM 800 combo sounded killer ! Happy 2023
I got a tiny Bugera that’s got .5,1,5 watt power. It’s a great little tube amp. Yesterday was the first day my 6 year allowed me to play in her presence! 😅😂😂😂
Thanks for sharing your amps. I like the way you hold the pick when you aren't using it!
1:42 I'm glad I'm not the only one who makes that sound when I'm amazed by the sound of my own gear.
MANY MANY thanks... that is really cool video

😆😆😆
Yeah, I've never owned a 412 because they're impossible to move by yourself. A 212 is not easy either, but they're at least manageable.
Very Cool Thankyou. Great Collection. Happy New Year All. Cheers
😎 Thanks Chris ⚓️
Nice range of amps in your collection. Big loud ones for those outdoor or deep stage gigs. Lower watt ones to drive close up. Yeah, I think I could learn to love those stacks. Rock on, Chris.
Very impressive!!!! I'm telling you those Victory amps are just spot on fabulous!!!! So happy for the success you have seen over the past year.
Crazy cool amp collection. The Shotmaker sounded awesome 😮
Thanks for sharing your collection! As with any great player, they all sound like Chris Buck, regardless of the badge!
I just read your interview in Guitar Player, congrats!
Good for you for leaving the snares on. We drummers feel represented! ;)
Cool rundown man thanks
The TSL 100 had a design issue on a primary circuit board. That issue resulted in a circuit board replacement, which may have contributed to the sound change you mentioned. I have a dead one in the corner. It plays for a bit, but dies after heating up.

Katana my friends! Nice demo of your amps and good to see that you have kept them over the years of playing.
Magnifico. 💪💪💪💪💪💪
That guitar sounds so glassy. I love it!
Thanks for the great run through of your amps you’ve had over the years.
Your personality is shining through more every video you do. HNY to you & family. Catch you in Islington in April
Great video Chris.
Happy New Year Sir, all the very best for the next go round...
Nice collection, Chris. Funny to hear you mention Woolworth... There was one on the main street in my town when I was a child, back in the 80's. Woolworths are still around, and (seemingly) trading well here in Australia. Not sure if they are connected to the ones in your neck though. ✌️🇦🇺
@@castleanthrax1833 nope, different company. I'm in Sydney and grew up in Wales where i used to by records in Woolworths 👍
@@leejohnson6516 Gotcha.
ALL AT ONCE ! 🤘
That Blackstar sounded very harsh, I love the Victory Dutches. I own one myself and can testify to how good it sounds. With that amount of amps I'm a feeling a little less guilty on owning three amps and two speaker cabinets.
That bogner alchemist is one of my like dream amps to own
Nothing like some real amps in a real room
I like how you can hear the snare rattle in the room 🤘
Oh my life. Yes Audition was Woolworth. I had a combo version of that as my very first amp. All I remember was the constant earth buzz on it with single coils. Bought in 1975
We need to get Chris a Two Rock TS1. I think it would suit him perfectly.
Thanks Chris, there is no such thing as too many the correct answer is always one more 😊
Do you have a favorite guitar/amp selection?
Maybe you also could have a Vox for some Rory Gallagher tone?
Happy New Year
Holy shit that's a collection man!
The Woolworths amp is incredible, sounds decent!
I loved my TSL 60 watt combo on stage with the master volume set at 1 o'clock. Really responsive but pretty loud. Nice to have 3 channels on the foot switch, made it easy to cover the whole set list.
Yes, it is excessive... for an amateur. But for a professional musician like you, it's normal. That's just what you do.
Bogner alchemist is a killer amp. Very versatile
So awesome. Really tremendous collection.
Great video ,not often do you get to hear a wall of amps played one by one…
That wall is so badass. Epic Chris. And you know how to make them all do what they do best.
Did much change from Buck & Evans to Cardinal Black gear wise, or do you tend to stick with the same rig?
Also are Buck & Evans still going these days?
The Woolworth amp sounds like my first, GDR-made amp. Ferocious transistor overdrive.
Nice collection. i love seeing this stuff man! Can't wait to see your guitar collection:) i have a feeling that's gonna be a two part video;)
Happy new year my friend.you are a great guitarist and musician .love the amps collection.🔥🙏🙏🙏🌷🌷🎸🎸👍👍🎸🌷🌷🙏🙏

well you’ve got lots of amps dude, good for you
Lovely collection of tasty amps Chris, remember most of us humble guitarists can only afford 1
The Blackstar Artist description sent me looking for the "in the mine" video. Wow, that was something!
I was hoping for a Marty McFly opening scene to Back To The Future explosion from all of them plugged in together
Wow, man, that's a great collection! I'm glad you have it. Enjoy!
What a glorious wall of sound! How on earth does one pick which amp to plug into?! 😱😱😱
🎸🔊🔊🔊🎶🎶🎶🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
eyyyy its friday-
Sit on it, Phil. 🤣🤣🤣
The good news is that money spent isn't money wasted - it just goes from one pocket to another.
So happy to not see here those expensive "TR"'s not made for musicians, they are more for lawyers and doctors 😂😭😭😭. Another example tone comes mostly from your own hands 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hysterical. I have an amp collection but they are all the same amp lol.
Chris you are a hoarder 😁
I had one of those Audition stacks, I thought it was the mutt's nuts at the time. Still looks great too.
Oh the Wonder of Woolworths, I bought a Woolworths Audition combo, my very first amp and I still remember it fondly but have no idea if it still survives today as I bought it in the early '70's!!
Cool collection Chris, the reverb on that V40 did sound really nice!
Don't you have enough noisey boxes?"

Cool post cheers 👍👌
Think I’ll be looking for a Audition amp, great vintage 60’s vibe
First amp OMG🤩
The Auditoria reminded me of my Selmer 15w little giant with it's optional and variable tremolo. The Marshall and Victory are awesome
That audition amp was my first amp!, good old woolies!
Funnily enough that hh cab is the one I think is the most interesting lol
That shotmaker is killer, reminds me a bit of a good trainwreck. How can I get ahold of one? The website says they only have pedals.
Thx for the kind words :) we’re a small shop in Poland and have been busy in 2022 working on amps and not updating our website :-D I guess it’s time to do that! But you can reach out to us here or on instagram and talk shop, I love to talk tone - cheers!
