I simply don’t trust myself with that responsibility. Too many people think they have what it takes and the crap they put their kids through is the testament to the fact that they didn’t.

Strange how the child free by choice sound like some of the most responsible people out there. The most thoughtful, empathetic, intelligent, independent minds. Yes, each one of you would make a great parent - but that would mean sacrificing your wonderful energy for someone who may or may not be equally valuable human being. Stay You, don't sacrifice in the name of herd mentality. The world doesn't need more people, but it needs more people like you.
Edit: I'm child free too. I get reaffirmed in my choice every time I come back home from visiting a friend with children. I get greeted by my dog and I feel an urge to say: Thank you God that I have had a choice.

Some of the most responsible people out there are also parents! I don't think I'm childfree so much because I'm a responsible person but because I just have no desire for it. I don't feel like looking after other people to that extent for 20+ years. I also don't want to work like a slave my whole life for other people. When you're just looking after yourself life is pretty easy and enjoyable.

Ideally, the super rich should pay the doctors ahead of time, amap with benefits for all areas of life, so that men would not put this off because it is too expensive, or the insurance companies are slow to reimburse doctors, etc. forcing the patients to pay out of pocket. There is a tv live 'reality show' with a father of at least five kids, second marriage, having affairs, saying "...(approximately) I'd get a vasectomy but I can't afford to..." His wife grew up in the biggest house in the USA and starred in her dad's tv show once a week. This is why it needs to be free for ALL people. The super rich tend to go broke very quickly. It is common for the sports stars, etc., going broke in about four years because of the peer pressure to buy the most expensive everything and flaunt, brag about what they have...Consider starting your own dating websites so that men don't waste time dating women who will try to talk them out of getting their vasectomy reversed. There are 4 of us kids that she had but we all live at least an hour away in different directions and we're busy with work and our friends and family. There are so many valid reasons to be childfree and I always find it very interesting to hear about people's reasons for being child free and when they made their decision that they didn't want children.
I think a lot of people think childfree people are all just a bunch of immature child haters and that's not true. For many people being child free wasn't that difficult of a decision and they knew they never wanted children and for some people they spent many years on the fence about whether or not to have children. Our reasons to not have children can be as different from each other as anything else in our lives and I think it's very fascinating to hear about other people's reasons to remain childfree.

All of my friends have children but a few of my females cousins do not . I often feel the pressure from my friends of stating they're waiting for me to have kids. Growing up I thought I wanted 4 kids but the older I get I accept the fact that I may not have anykids and despite the pressue it's okay . I observe the women and men in my life with kids and I am not certain that I want such responsiblility . At 30 Im just coming into myself and realizing what is it that I actually want out of life especially coming from proverty and seeing so many poor people with multiple kids , some are well off but some are poor . . I am fine without being a mother .

    This guy is smart.
One thing that Ive noticed though child free and relationship free men seem to be more common than women.
More than half of the reddit threads on r/childfree are of married women who are experiencing that typical societal pressure of breeding.
I began to apply my childfree stance on my past romantic relationships and concluded its also not worth the hassle. Its frustrating though because ive been accused that "I must hate women" or the ever classic "who hurt you?" just because Ive found both romantic and parental relationships require too energy and emotional investment.
I don't hate women just as much as most childfree people don't hate children but just don't need/want that type of commitment and investment.
You get similar reactions ie "Youre gonna grow old and lonely" or "you'll regret it when all your friends are married you get left behind" (and conveniently leave out the divorced part) as if those are any good reasons.
    Thanks for the video!

I always knew I didn't want kids. But what really drove it home was after my siblings were born. I love my siblings very much, but I often got stuck babysitting them and it was extremely stressful for me. One of my brothers threw temper tantrums at the drop of a hat and nothing could calm him down, so there were many times we were out shopping or at the laundry mat and he would start throwing fits. My mom would have to drive back home and drop us off so that she could go back and finish her shopping or the laundry. It was awful! I would be stuck at home with him by myself and you had to constantly watch him because if he wasn't throwing fits he'd be getting into stuff. I hated it with a passion and after a while I started to hate him. Now of days when I'm out in public and I see parents struggling with their kids, it takes me back to those days and I remember how awful it was. I always looked forward to the rare days when my mom and I could go out and do something together without my siblings. Now that I'm an adult and married, I am enjoying the freedom to be able to just spend time with my husband and not have to worry about a kid ruining it.

    Dear Hannah,
I discovered your channel 2 days ago and want to thank you dearly for your content.
As a women in my late twenties I've been unsure about having children for years now. I'm still not sure about whether I want any or not - but I can resonate with your content so much and it gives me the feeling I can really decide for myself. You are a role model, thanks so much for your work here on youtube.
As an idea/request for future videos:
I find it really hard how to communicate the issue to my mother in law (of course its not the time to do this yet - in my case), I expect her to hate me for "stealing" her potential grandkids away. She already doesn't like me and although I'm a very tough, outgoing and direct woman I think when (if) the time comes, it will be so hard for my partner me to stick to our decision without her constantly making uns feel bad for it. She really is a piece of work. Honestly I fear, it's gonna be horrible.
My own mother is really understanding and mature so maybe she will express that she will be sad about it for a while but it's our life and she supports me the way I am. But for his mother... I'm convinced this will not be the case
Could you make a video about this specific topic? Like, how to communicate the decision with mother/father in law (as a woman) and make clear they don't have a word in this? That would be great.
Again, thank you so much for your videos and have a great time.
    Best wishes from Germany
    Hannah (also a hannah ;-))

So they keep my sick and painful ovary in me because "I may still change my mind." Those few eggs left there will never become a baby, but I am refused medical help... and that is in Sweden.

That is so unfortunate. I'm sorry. I just don't understand why the medical community is so resistive to women making their own choices when it comes to babies.

Is it for hormonal reasons too?
Surely you would go straight into menopause if both ovarys are non-functional / removed.
Is there fundamental statistical risk to going into early menopause that they are trying to avoid?
E.g increased risk of heart disease or cancer?

@@WifeWithoutKids Do you remember this Monty Python Song "Every Sperm Is Sacred"? I think it is the misogynistic approach to women and this ridiculous patriarchal need to control our bodies. I get it, a man needs to convince a woman to birth children for him, but birthing is not an easy process. After all those years, I feel like it is men who want to have children more.

@@leighbyford635 I am ok with early menopause, I am already on hormones. I've been living with pain for the last 7 years. I am taking all the medication for pain plus hormones because... they have to keep my ovary switched off, so that the condition is not getting worse and all of it in the name of "you may still change your mind". Fun fact, when I am 40, they will have to remove the painful ovary anyway because my risk of developing cancer will be too high. The hormones I take shouldn't be taken at my age because they increase cancer risk... Catch 22
I am telling you - it is JUST because I may still "change my mind"
I think I also need to add that apart from being a woman, i am also an immigrant in Sweden - so they see me as 1/4 of a human I guess

@@JustASock-el6ct I’m sorry your in that situation. Hope things change for the better for you.
The Monty python “ every sperm is sacred “ is a satire on Catholicism. It’s making fun of the Popes mandate against condoms during the 1980s.
      It’s advocating less children.

You WILL find that single CHILDFREE person's are the most discriminated group in society. We get NO tax breaks, we are often asked and they try to for e us to stay at work late or cover for some p.o.s. that has kids cause SHE has to get home it pick up her stupid kid from school. I flat out REFUSE to cover for anyone anymore. I tell the breeder that just cause I'm single doesn't mean I don't have things to do as well. They get pissed. Too f'ing bad!

My thinking is if you made the conscious decision to have a child then you also accepted the responsibilities that come with it. You have to figure out how to make it work. It shouldn't be up to me to rearrange my schedule or life to accommodate you. That defeats the purpose of me choosing to be child free. You can't give me excuses when you knew what having a child was going to entail.

In order for a woman to get sterilized you have to undergo general anesthesia, be intubated, and have laparoscopic ports inserted into you, and be insufflated with gas. It isn't the most risky surgery but you will most likely have scars from the lap sites and one of my main reasons for not having children is in order to not wreck my body. I'm not sure if most women realize this. Personally I would rather not put my body through the trauma and have the man suck it up and get the vasectomy which can be performed under local anesthetic.... This also may be why some doctors don't push tubals because they actually require surgery.

@@ananonymoushen4339 Epidurals also come with risks and then after the epidural they will still make an incision and it's just that you will be awake to hear everything instead lol. I have never heard of the other thing you mentioned but a quick look online brought up Essure which has been recalled since 2018. If this was still an option I can't imagine surgeons would still be doing tubals instead of doing the less invasive measure.

I'm Indigenous. I lived in a foster house that served as a safe baby house. This one pair of siblings we got was a 4yo, and her 6 month old brother. Their "mother" so was unfit(I wasn't told why, I was 10). Then, the boyfriend DROPPED the baby.🙄🤦🏾‍♀️
Every weekend, we'd pick them up, and the kids themselves smelt like cigarette smoke. From their "mother" smoking in the house constantly. 😒🤮
