I get mail from a lot of companies. Nice to see how it is done.
I have learned certain techniques over the years to get in the door but I have to figure out the best way to get the information out to the people.
I have been to many houses where they have had long term relations with a company and I sell them equipment on the first visit. You need to make sure that you are priced right on your service calls and check and cleans because when it comes time to replace the unit the company that finds the problem gets the job most often. I've seen it to many time
People will try to sue over anything so I am trying to make sure that I have myself covered.

I like your idea on permit searching. Unfortuantely, I am in the consumer service industry for electronics, so permit searching wont work for me. However, that makes sense though because any time you do something, or your name gets put into a computer somewhere for something, You get bombarded with junkmail and other advertising.
Now I know how they do it. lol.

Your permit address idea is good. But the money is in old equipment, not newer equipment. Everybody has a furnace or Ac unit, I would try a blanket mail out.
Be nice if we had that for our area

Marketing at its best right here, but its not much of a secret now though..
Eddie, I don't see any problem setting up a "Targeted Marketing List." Everybody does it. This would explain why I get some HVAC companies mailing me offers and not my neighbors. I finished a facilities maintenance program with a minor in HVAC. I have applied for jobs with HVAC and building management companies. I now receive literature and equipment offers but no job offers. I was told that what ever o mailed out to expect about 4% of the people calling. That may be true if your established but if your a startup then I would not be expecting that, you maybe looking at less than 1%.
So if you mail 20 thousand don't be surprised if you get 20 calls

most of the people on a list like this have sold the house to a new owner. you can prove that out by checking Zillow or redfin for the last sale date. one neat thing you could do with this list is look up the phone number on whitepages.com
You shouldn't have any problems with the address. It is public information as long as you are not using the other companies names in the mailer you're not doing anything wrong. The only problem I see is that yea they had a system put in 10 yrs ago by ABC Heating & Air and if it needs servicing or replacement they all ready have a conection with ABC and have no reason to use another company. Just my thoughts
Really don't know how you could get sued. No difference in driving down the road and writing down the address as you drive. Besides that how do you think these mailing companies get their addresses. Its public info
