Don't know about you all, but I still haven't beaten Darksiders: Genesis, so I have that to tide me over anyway

I’ll never understand why you people get so anal about that. What purpose does it even serve, besides satisfying your OCD? Personally I can’t stand the idea of a Strife game that does nothing for the story, other than give us blue balls for another 6 years.

@@Hynotama because people have been wanting a Strife solo game for years, and they deserve to have it, just like with Death and Fury, if those two can have their own solo games then so should Strife, not having a Strife solo game would be unfair especially to Darksiders fans whose favorite horseman is Strife.

There is literally zero reason for that other to satisfy an OCD about numbers and add yet more filler crap that has nothing to do with the initial plot. I have the same issue with 3. Darksiders 2 built upon the first and fleshed out the universe, based on elements from the first game. Darksiders 3 literally added new crap that wasn’t necessary and crudely linked it to the first two games. And a strife game would do the same.
As much as I want a Strife solo game, I’d much rather the series having its ultimate conclusion. With the way the franchise has been handled, it’s a miracle that we’re getting another game at all. This very well could be the final game and I don’t want to be left with blue balls if it isn’t a finale. Strife was featured in Genesis and that’s good enough for me. It’s time for the sequel to Darksiders 1 with all four horsemen as playable characters. Darksiders: Armageddon/Apocalypse
That's exactly why I'm torn myself. I WANT Strife to get his own game, but I would like to get the finale where you play as all 4 of them......sometime this century lol.
@@Ragiroth Yes, I just think a a strife game is too risky for the franchise. If it’s not a commercial success then we’re not getting another game at all. That’s why it’s got to be the big finale.
With the right game direction, Strife’s whereabouts can be explained and we can have the true sequel to DS1 at the same time. Perhaps each horseman can have their own act in the story, strife’s could be flashbacks or something similar, explaining how he lost his pistols and whatever else needs to be filled in.

Edit: No more Genesis style games! Genesis was cool and all but we don’t need another one. We don’t need more Diablo style entries. In fact, I would argue that the next game should be DMC inspired. The first two games were RPGs with hack n slash combat. A mix between Legend of Zelda and OG God of War. And Darksiders 3 clearly was leaning more towards the Dark Souls inspiration. Do something with Darksiders that hasn’t been done yet. Make a Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy 16 type of game in terms of combat. Please.
I mean hey you could still make the video! Haha. But yeah it is exciting, and I do agree the more DMC inspired stuff the better. However while I'd love a proper DS4 to take as much as DMC inspiration as possible, I wouldn't necessarily say no more Genesis style games at all, since I feel they're good for having multiple horsemen playing. Now DMC5 had four characters playable, so if a DS game can achieve that while being more traditional, then hell yes! But I just dunno if DS4 would have the budget of DMC5, and of course the 4th playable character wasn't added until over a year after the game came out (And hell while Vergil is my boi, they didn't exactly change him up too much in DMC5)
An easy way to have 4 playable characters is to make a Marvel Ultimate Alliance style game. With unlockable demons, makers, angels, humans and other old ones.
That would be great! I feel like Genesis was around that ball park especially since both MUA and Genesis were inspired by Diablo

Darksiders 3 was a Soulslike with Fury, f*cking amazing, I might add. Darksiders 4 should be a third-person shooter with Strife as the player character
That'd be cool. Granted I'd like him to use some melee to like he has in Genesis
@Ragiroth That's what I meant, my bad. A third-person shooter fantasy reminiscent of Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, not a third-person shooter like Gears of War and Uncharted

@@Alex-ng6hc DMC and Bayonetta are not shooters. They are Beat them all games in which the protagonists happen to have guns for weapons.
I see everywhere this Idea of a shooter. I think it sucks. People have no clue when it comes to game design...
Edit : also, 3rd DK was already hugely inspired by Bayonetta

That would honestly be one of the biggest loads of BS I've ever seen if that was the case lol. But nah I highly doubt this type of announcement would suggest that. Admittedly I would like a DS3 remaster ALONGSIDE whatever game this is
This series has died and been saved so many times, I might actually get into it lol
I feel like considering the supernatural and biblical themes in the plots, that's kind of fitting that it dies and get's revived so much lol

Been playing through the entire series. Beat 1 again (platinum on PS3) and NG+ on 2.
Playing 3 now (this time i plan on finishing it/starting over)

Nice! Yeah I didn't get too far on Genesis, but I rebought it on my Steam Deck and giving it another go
So glad to hear that Darksiders is returning. I can't wait to see where the story will take place and if we can play as Strife or even all the Horseman.

@@Ragiroth Been awhile man. But yeah I'm going to watch up all the cinematic playthoughs just to hear the dialogue from theses stories. Because they are so good and I hope that the next game will be just as good as the previous ones.

I'm too hype for DARKSIDERS. I want my sequel game damn it, every game after 1 is just a prequel and I want my true Darksiders 2, ya know the continuation of the first.

It's being developed by Gunfire, who did Darksiders 3 and the Remnant games. Airship Syndicate did Genesis, so I'm fairly confident this is going to be a mainline game.
Also, who heard the Council say "Horsemen" and not "Horseman"?

I am assuming it will be Darksiders 4, probably a 3rd person shooter with Strife in style similar to Remnant but with some platforming and puzzles :)
Yeah now knowing it's Gunfire Games making it, I think that definitely increases the chances of it being Darksiders 4
@@Ragiroth and having played Remnant (sequel is allegedly even lots better), shooting mechanics there and such are great, and they have already done Darksiders 3... if you put those together, man, jackpot :)
I loved the third game... now, having completed it on Reckoning difficulty, I appreciate it even more... and has the best character development in the series... all others werent changing much throughout their games... but Fury went from selfish, proud b.... to an almost angry mother character :) loved it
@@RazielKainus Well that's reassuring. Hopefully they'll take what they learned from Remnant 1 and 2. And yeah Fury is cool, and definitely had some good growth. I like DS3, just as a whole, it's probably my least favorite
If it's not the strife solo game I hope it is one where you can play as all 4 of them with different storylines that converge at the end of the campaign

I think they kept it vague because gamescom 2024 is almost here and they probably saved the full announcement until then.

I could kinda see that. I sorta hope they don't, just because I personally don't really like the more "grounded" feel that Sony gave GoW for the gameplay. I'd still most likely buy it regardless but even still
@Ragiroth I see your point. They need to do something wholly unique yet different for a new Darksiders game in terms of gameplay. As much as I love the old "hack & slash" style of the old GoW and Darksiders games (honorable mention: Dante's Inferno) I did super enjoy the new gameplay and cinematic direction they went with GOW 2018 and Ragnarok. All this to say, I do feel that as a generation of gamers that live in the times we now live in with developers having access to newer tech and skill sets, I feel like reverting back to or continuing the old "hack & slash" style feels stale and disingenuous.

I haven’t played genesis yet (just downloaded it in preparation) but from what I can tell it’s a prequel. If that’s the case: we need a proper game about what strife was doing during the first game like we did with death and fury
I forget where it takes place in the timeline, probably first chronologically yeah. But yes I agree.
Give me a decent game, I'm not asking for a masterpiece, clearly Gunfire doesn't have the creative talent to deliver on that front anyway. I'm just asking for a decent game.
If Strife is to have his own game, please don't let it be a shooter, like everybody else is asking, cuz clearly, it would suck ass, make it more like DMC where guns are parts of your arsenal but it's still a Beat Them All.
And please, for the love of all that is holy, improve the writing. Aside from 1st one which was very decently written, the writing of Darksiders games have been horrible.
The Darksiders series have always been my 1st love and I really want it to continue. However, if we've all been waiting for D4, the videogame industry has not.
They won't be able to get away with a half assed game and cringe inducing writing.
Keep Gareth Cocker or hire Jesper Kyd again for the soundtrack cause theirs were bangers, don't let the soundtrack be a miss like 3rd (it sucked plain and simple).
Get Joe Mad on art direction or as consultant for the chara and creature designs (3rd was ass on that front... Havoc form anybody?)
Get your shit together on writing or hire Amy Hennig (one can dream) and let her do something like she did on Legacy of Kain...
Gameplay was slick on 3rd with Bayonetta"esque" gameplay with the perfect dodge etc.. I'd like something similar but with more depth.
Or if you want to go 4 player coop (I can't figure out why everybody would think this would not be total ass but w/e) go ham and make a 'Musou' style game like Drakengard, only here your dragon is your horse and let us cut trhough thousands of angels and demons to get that powerfantasy vibe the Darksiders series deserves.
I agree, that I want it to be as DMC as possible. Strife may have guns, but as Genesis has shown us, he can fight up close as well.
I would like to think the reason this game has taken so long to announce, is because they're trying to take their time on it more. And yes Joe Mad should definitely be involved
Soul reaver 1 & 2 are supposedly being remastered by the same company that done the tomb raider trilogy. So looking forward to this too.
Haven't played the TR remasters, but yeah I've heard people really like them! So that is good to hear. But yeah I can't wait for all of them
Let’s hope not. That’s a super woke company that messed with the originals because they didn’t agree with what was in them. And added that super garbage disclaimer at the beginning to make it known they didn’t agree with what was in the games.
Please tell them not bring us something like Genesis, Please let them to stick to Darksider 2 Style or DS1

If it has to be the closest to any DS game (if we're not counting Genesis), the closer it is to DS2, the better I say lol. It's my favorite one from pretty much every aspect, though I'm partially biased towards it since it has my favorite horseman.
@@Ragiroth I’m a bit biased too since I adore Death’s sarcastic dry sass. But I think an adventure across creation with Strife’s witty humor would be real fun to play, loved him and war in genesis

@@cier5158 Agreed. For what it's worth to, I imagine Strife playing the closest to Death out of the three that have gotten their game. And perhaps they'll shift back to the more ethereal environments of DS2. Maybe every odd numbered game is on Earth, and the even are elsewhere?
@@Ragiroth let’s hope so, playing the games and reading the extra content outside of the game like “abomination vault” gave me the impression that Strife and Death have always been the older siblings in the family so thematically speaking I think it could be a great contrast to war and fury if their adventures are more grand scaled since as the oldest Nephilims alive they seem to affect the big picture more than the other two. Even if they’ll never admit it.
@@cier5158 That makes sense. Death was the oldest, Strife the second, and then was War or Fury the youngest? I forget. Interestingly enough Death and Strife are the ones with the more "cool/cold" palette of colors, while War and Fury are the two with the more "hot" color palettes
C’mon we need to see strifes time and story in a stand alone like the other 3. And yes another game/s with all 4 horsemen would be a great ending to the saga.
I still think it's possible that'll happen, and he does deserve it. I'm probably looking too much at the content of the teaser lol. I think I'm also just worried that after this game, the series will die again or just be on hiatus forever, so there's a part of me that is just impatient for the "Every horsemen is here" game haha
Darksiders Genesis wasn’t that great. Most people don’t know it was made by Joe Mad the actual creator of the series and not this team making Darksiders 4. I personally loved 1,2, and 3 and I’m really hoping it’s something close to any of those, but my gut says it’s gonna be more like Remnant.
It's funny, I feel like there was a lot more positivity around Genesis when it came out, now I'm hearing less people that like it lol. I haven't played Remnant, how is it?
@@Ragiroth I absolutely love Remnant From the Ashes. The world design and characters are awesome. Remnant 2 looks better and plays better, but something is missing. The bosses aren’t as cool and neither is the setting.

& all darksiders games need to be fixed . Like make enemies & bosses harder to kill & NG+ & we need challenges & comat arena like God of war & devil may cry! Darksiders III have so much issues like check point , Narrative & story, visual! & darksiders 1 & 2 have really performance issues like frame drops ! But combat in darksiders fames are so delicious to fill & taste !

I'm sorry that you feel that way, but I don't really understand how I clickbaited with this video. It is true that Darksiders is coming back, so that's not a lie or anything. And I just gave an open question like "Now what to expect?". I mainly made the video as a celebration and follow up to my video from a couple years ago
@@Ragiroth well, the title of your video does not even give any inkling of that. It says “Darksiders Returns! Now what to expect?!”. Nothing about the video from 4 years ago. When I read the title I see “I have some information” not a celebration. There is another dude that does this. Says “Here is what is next coming up for God of War” and then spits speculation for 20 minutes and then asks the viewers what they think.
I call that clickbait. Hell that is the DEFINITION of clickbait
@@codyguidry5619 I suppose that's fair. One of the challenges in making RUclips videos, is finding a way to make it so people want to watch your video, while also not being deceptive of what's contained in the video. Especially when you're a smaller channel like myself that's trying to get bigger. Sometimes it's easy finding the balance, and sometimes it's tough. I don't make too many Darksiders related videos so it's a topic I'm less sure to navigate, especially when we know so little about the game. I suppose I figured putting a question mark at the end of "Now what to expect" would set the tone that it's more speculative than informative
