Liberty DeVitto just crushes on this track. Played with Billy Joel for 30 years, and now has The Lords of 52nd Street with the other members of the Billy Joel band, Cannata (sax), and Javors (Guitar) (the bassist, Stegmeyer, unfortunately passed in 1995). They still tour without Billy Joel, and play all those songs - would love to see them live
The Soviet Union did this for the earliest visitors, usually filming with 45mm cameras. Queen went to Budapest and the Soviet Union used all of their 45mm cameras and all of the film they had available to record it.
This *filmed* concert is the best evidence of how unfortunate the move to digital concert filming was, at least in the late 80s and 90s when the resolution and optics were still subpar. Shame to think of the amazing concerts (Queen, Prince, etc.) that were shot on videotape and look like rubish today. And then you see something like this. Incredible contrast, resolution, fidelity, color balance, etc.
You are so right. What he's doing is so damn close to not only the nylon curtain LP. But to the actual instrumental version I just happen to be in the proud owner of. Love y BJ
I was just watching this thinking Liberty DeVitto looks like he was the inspiration for Animal (on Sesame Street) to play the drums!! LOL!! Love ya, LIB!!
Holy shit Doug was tearing that shit up. His bass playing was never 'show-offish' but that fill he threw in after I think the 2nd chorus was fucking great.
I love how often you can hear Mr. Joel insert his classical influences and it really elevates his work. He draws from a wide range of influences and synthesizes them all with his signature style.
Billy Joel did several concerts in Russia. At the first one in Moscow there was a little incident. During this very song the crowd was cheering and dancing, but every time the lights came on they would freeze and return to a stationary position, as they feared they would get in trouble. It was sapping energy from the show, and Billy had a melt down where he upturned his keyboards and smashed a microphone stand against his grand piano.
It seems that I am the only Brazilian foreigner who enjoys and know the sound of Billy Joel pure qui, not guys, I met Billy Joel listening to the radio antenna one, after 10 years I had the opportunity to buy the album the stranger, 25 nd Street, glass houses and song in the attic, in my Billy Joel musical conception and unique and there was no other. parece que eu sou o único estrangeiro brasileiro que curte e conhecer o som de Billy Joel pura qui, não é galera, conheci Billy Joel ouvindo a rádio antena um, depois de 10 anos que tive o oportunidade de compra o álbum the stranger, 25 nd street, glass houses e song in the attic, na minha concepção musical Billy Joel e único e não existi outro.
Billy at about the pinnacle of his performing career.....running all over the stage, frenetic....the Storm front tour had a little of that, but the old band was gone for the most part and he was a getting up there in age. The Bridge tour was the end of his best years as a performance artist IMO. still solid later on of course but this tour in 1986/87 was the end of the very high energy shows of his youth.
I can fully appreciate this song. Because I feel the pressure that other people in particular living in societies in western countries can put on you psychologically to keep up in the race in life.
Man that David LeBolt is fantastic on the keyboards! It’s too bad only us really know who he is! The new generation has too much of a lack of music appreciation! And...Yes Liberty! If there was a Billy Joel action figure set,Liberty would be the first icon I’d buy! Mark Rivera, next level talent and that man gets that crowd moving with his unstoppable energy! I’ve also gotta give credit to some of the greatest background singers in the business Pete Hewlett (check out his acoustic performance of An Innocent man on RUclips!) and George Simms (Brother of Frank Simms (The Kool Aid Man,Oh Yeahhh!!!) Russell Javors And Kevin Dukes keep the rhythm steady And of course Rip Doug Stegmeyer! If there’s a path between music and euphoria then your bass is truly the bridge! Lastly props to the crowd! Despite everyone’s indifferences,I’ve seen no better display of love, support and humanity! All because of you Billy Joel!
Yes. Liberty Devitto plays on Turnstiles, The Stranger, 52nd Street, Glass Houses, The Nylon Curtain, An Innocent Man, The Bridge, Storm Front, and he's on one song from River of Dreams.
I am sure mister Billie Joël performance the song presure with a lot of présure in 1987 cold War in Rusia. And it sounds far better than thé original studio.🤔👏👏👏👏🇦🇹❤️
Watch this on tv,one of the best I have ever seen, loved it,music awesome and of course the piano playing and his voice was the best.Full of energy! Thanks
Duh..performance. i remember how historically significant it was for bj to be invited. He speaks of it during his "Kennedy Center.." 2013? Also emotional rendition of Goodnight Saigon by Garth Brooks, tons of veterans and Obamas. Worth watching.
Billy Joel had „the pressure“ to write this song or to perform this song. Maybe it is a reply to „under pressure“ of queen. Best wishes Peter from Germany
Pressure/Billy Joel You have to learn to pace yourself Pressure You're just like everybody else You've only had to run so far So good But you will come to a place Where the only thing you feel Are loaded guns in your face And you'll have to deal with You used to call me paranoid But even you cannot avoid You turned the tap dance into your crusade Now here you are with your faith And your Peter Pan advice You have no scars on your face And you cannot handle All grown up and no place to go Psych 1, Psych 2 What do you know? All your life is Channel 13 Sesame Street What does it mean? (I'll tell you what it means) Don't ask for help You're all alone You'll have to answer To your own I'm sure you'll have some cosmic rationale But here you are in the ninth Two men out and three men on Nowhere to look but inside Where we all respond to All your life is Time Magazine I read it too What does it mean? I'm sure you'll have some cosmic rationale But here you are with your faith And your Peter Pan advice You have no scars on your face And you cannot handle One,two, three, four

one of the best drum tracks of all time
Yepp...the drummer it's fantastic

The semi classical synth hook. Brilliant. Vastly under rated track.
This is excellent cinematography for a concert in 1987.
Cinematography at old concert>>>>>>>nowadays
The Last Waltz
All I will say
It was shot on film
This is remastered obviously

Dude, have you seen Queen Live in Montreal in digital Blue Ray? It looks like this = awesome. And that concert was filmed back in 81'.
I bought the original back in the late 80's vhs. On now it looks like this on Blue Ray. ruclips.net/video/LGBUJL5uS_c/видео.html
@@fluffyusa Although this Queen concert was remastered digitally, it was probably filmed originally with an analog film camera.
@@fluffyusa That Concert was filmed in Analog film...
Shot on digital? Presumably you mean videotape as opposed to film.
Liberty DeVito is a MONSTER behind the drum kit!!!
You are so right. What he's doing is so damn close to not only the nylon curtain LP. But to the actual instrumental version I just happen to be in the proud owner of. Love y BJ
He still is a monster, love it!
Is he related to Danny?
I was just watching this thinking Liberty DeVitto looks like he was the inspiration for Animal (on Sesame Street) to play the drums!! LOL!! Love ya, LIB!!
Was just saying the same thing!
Pressure is one of my favourite billy Joel songs and the performance in Russia in 1987 is the best one of them all
Holy shit Doug was tearing that shit up. His bass playing was never 'show-offish' but that fill he threw in after I think the 2nd chorus was fucking great.

Спасибо Пацанам за открытие этого шедевра.

大好きな歌なので聴けてよかったです!ありがとうございます
What a sensational energy this song gives me!!! Great performance by Billy Joel, as always!
Danny Devitto Is awesome. He's going crazy on the drums. Very underrated drummer
LIBERTY... lol. Though Danny on the drums would be interesting.

Liberty DeVitto was the foundation of this band. Absolute monster.
The video quality is amazing!
+UberDurable Upscaling maybe ?
+Derdonaueschinger It was shot on film, plus the atmospheric haze enhances the mood.
Oh~~, It's a dream time of 80's.
Such a terrific band - Doug be jigging and jammin', lol!
The drummer is on point
Ya think ?? It's friggin' Liberty DeVitto !!!
He is great, and his incredibly beautiful daughter Torrey is the star of Chicago Med

They were messing the show up and he was yelling at them to stop.
It wasn't during this song he had the meltdown it was whilst performing Sometimes A Fantasy. You can see the footage on RUclips.
Liberty had to sweat off 5 pounds every time he played this song.
i just saw you live in Phoenix what an amazing concert the best i have ever seen live im 16 and love your music thank you!
Such great vocal control!

1975年から1976年頃は学校から帰るとよくラジオを聴いていたけどそのころですか?
One of the best live shots I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've got just one question. you're all mentioning Mr Liberty. Is he the original drummer on the nylon curtain LP? He must be. He's so spot on
Yes. Liberty Devitto plays on Turnstiles, The Stranger, 52nd Street, Glass Houses, The Nylon Curtain, An Innocent Man, The Bridge, Storm Front, and he's on one song from River of Dreams.

Best perforformance ever ❤

Even russians loved this hit not knowing what it means... The color and def in this vhs was amezing
...And just think, Liberty was told at school he could never cut it as a drummer because he couldn't do a buzz roll...
i ❤️ Billy Joel ❤️
What a fantastic tune! Time to get to work myself. Listening to your music always inspires me! 👏
Liberty is a beast
2:44 I was about to say "bless you".
4:19 BEST MELODY EVER...IS SO DIABOLIC BROOO
この曲と「オネスティ」が大好きです。
that drummer really earned his money on that night
Brilliant.
THE BEST AUDIO FOR THIS SONG, hope they remaster the original to nowadays because the 480 vid sounds like crap. this one sounds perfect. thanks.
¿Alguien de Perú, escuchando esta joya musical, en plena pandemia?
Fuck COVID-19! All we need is this musical jewel to be happy in this quarantine!

Pressure/Billy Joel
You have to learn to pace yourself
Pressure
You're just like everybody else
You've only had to run so far
So good
But you will come to a place
Where the only thing you feel
Are loaded guns in your face
And you'll have to deal with
You used to call me paranoid
But even you cannot avoid
You turned the tap dance into your crusade
Now here you are with your faith
And your Peter Pan advice
You have no scars on your face
And you cannot handle
All grown up and no place to go
Psych 1, Psych 2
What do you know?
All your life is Channel 13
Sesame Street
What does it mean?
(I'll tell you what it means)
Don't ask for help
You're all alone
You'll have to answer To your own
I'm sure you'll have some cosmic rationale
But here you are in the ninth
Two men out and three men on
Nowhere to look but inside
Where we all respond to
All your life is Time Magazine
I read it too
What does it mean?
I'm sure you'll have some cosmic rationale
But here you are with your faith
And your Peter Pan advice
You have no scars on your face
And you cannot handle
One,two,three,four
a "concession to the times" song.
Does anyone know where i can find the full recording of this concert?
