    At the time you didn't realise what a real talented lady she really was. I could listen to her all day.

    I've watched this so many times and it's still as fresh as ever. Glad makes this medley sound so simple yet no-one could emulate this performance with such style, precision and effectiveness as she does.

    The only LP I have IIRC is an MFP prod. where she's at a white piano with keys of rainbow colours (that's why I bought it - not knowing her music). I didn't know she had success in UK until I searched on RUclips... I envy those who sungalong in those days. Must have been fun.

    Just to be clear, are you saying that Mrs. Mills was one of McCartney's inspirations? I never knew that. I can hear that influence in his more quaint songs, like, "Martha My Dear," for example.

    harryoakley the British loved M&W so much because they are funny. I appreciate that you obviously have different comic tastes to others but the majority of the British public found them funny because that is the British sense of humour :)

    • @hanseekhoff1093
      @hanseekhoff1093 10 лет назад

      Two Ronnies, Cleese, Atkinson, Tommy Cooper, and so many more - hilariously funny. Morecambe & Wise, totally unfunny. "I play all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order" - good Lord, how can anyone laugh about that........

    • @georgeclark96
      @georgeclark96 10 лет назад +1

      Hans Eekhoff I agree that the likes of Tommy Cooper, Cleese, Atkinson and the Two Ronnies were also very funny but nothing can beat M&W. Its funny because it is such a simple line combined with the fact this was in the presence of Andre Previn such a world-renowned and well-respected conductor and the way Eric grabbed him by his lapels and called him "sunshine" made fun out of what should have been a very serious situation

    • @hanseekhoff1093
      @hanseekhoff1093 10 лет назад +1

      You need noty describe it, I have seen the sketch and so many others of M&W. Totally unfunny; the kitchen scene is marginally amusing but does not compare to just about everything the two Ronnies did, they were so much more intelligent and subtle. Anyway, it's a matter of taste, but if anything I find Eric Morecambe annoying. I do like Mrs. Mills.

    • @hanseekhoff1093
      @hanseekhoff1093 10 лет назад +1

      By the way, quite a few of my English friends are equally bored by M&W as I am.

    • @georgeclark96
      @georgeclark96 10 лет назад +1

      Yeah it is down to taste :) the Two Ronnies and M&W are on a par in my opinion. They did a few sketches that were quite similar

    I can fully understand folk not liking the humour of Morecambe and Wise because my working class different humour is different to other different people like...ya know wha' a mean? The reason of course is that we lower classes had not the privledge of going to university to lurrn the fowl mouthed language and sex we here from the so-called educated comics we hear on telly today. I often ponder where they all learned to swear. Ya no wa' a mean like?

  • @harryoakley
    @harryoakley 12 лет назад +2

    @powerspade Mrs Mills - nothing great but lovely and disarming. Morecambe and Wise - totally unfunny. I never understood why the British (who usually have a great sense of humor) liked them so much.
