Baker Creek sponsors the National Heirloom Festival in Ventura, Ca. For 2024 it will be held on September 10-12. It is a must attend for tomato lovers. I grow about 40 varieties every year. My favorite yellow is the Djeena Lee. Hope to see you there.
I love purple varieties! I don' know what I'm going to do his year, as my slicer seedlings' leaves have worn away with the heat and humidity while hardening off on the porch and I'll have to start all over again this late in the season. I may nd up with a Fall tomato garden at this rate.
I make sauce from all my tomatoes too. Even cherry maters! Love tomato taste tests. I did a taste test on almost 40 varieties from my garden last summer and this year I am hoping to do 50 new varieties. But timing can be a challenge for me. We adore the same tomatoes. The yellow and orange tomatoes are so good! I do love the green tomatoes as well. Hillbilly is my favorite large tomato, it has a similar look and flavor to Pineapple. I've tried the Paul Robeson for three years, and it was just terrible all three years. Maybe it doesn't like the upper Midwest! I have to give up on it to make room for something else. I am participating in some tomato breeding projects this year. It is fun, but serious at the same time, tracking ect. Thank you for this video!
Most people seem to like the Pineapple and Kellog's Breakfast tomatoes a lot. I want to get the Abe Lincoln and a good paste tomato like the Amish Paste for sauce.
Excellent video. My abe lincolns split on top too. I like the flavor a lot but the cracking is a little too much for me. I have grown pineapple before and I am thinking about trying hillbilly this year. It sounds like they are very similar. Have you ever tried one?
@@growjoyfullyhomesteadwhere did you get the seeds for pineapple and Abe Lincoln? You have convinced me to try pineapple again. I only tried one plant before
Big rainbow. Although the pineapple tomato always comes right close, it's usually my favorite! I think I like the yellow tomatoes the best! I also love pink Brandywine.

Hey great video! We are going to try this with both tomatoes and peppers this coming season. New sub here. 😊
So envious! I live in the PNW, very moderate climate next to Puget Sound. No big 90 day beefsteak for me. 😢 great video!
Thank you! I grew almost 700 pounds last year!
Hi my dear friend thanks so much for sharing another great video with us and some great inspiration. My does that tomato look good.

I've grown both. Hillbilly doesn't perform well for me. Now pineapple...fabulous!
