You are the best tomato reviewer I have found yet... Most people just do not know how to describe flavors or other qualities... " I really like this one" doesn't tell us anything... Your use of the words, Umami, peppery, sweet, savory, etc. really go a long way to help us determine if we would like the tomato or not.. Without those descriptors, we don't have a clue about how they taste. So thank you for your videos!!

First time planting determinate tomatoes this year. Planted black sea man, nebraska wedding and wisconsin chief. Went in the ground as seed last weekend, mid june. Zone 6b. I think I'm good to get a harvest before frost.

Thanks for the video! I like how honest you are when you try them, that seems to be rare these days. I also really appreciate that you compare tomatoes and try to imagine the best way to eat them, what to pair them with etc. When you say peppery, do you mean like bell peppery or like black pepper kinda taste? I will definitely be watching more of your videos, especially since I am trying to find 10 perfect varieties (combination of little snackers and all-purpose (sauce and slicing)) Thanks again!

Great review, thanks. I’ve been growing Black Sea man for 5 years and it’s a favorite. Does well in coastal WA despite cool nights. I really appreciate that you cut to each plant and show on the vine! Few taste testers do that.

Agree on the Black Sea Man and I definitely need to grow more of these since they're determinate. I'm growing more hybrids this year to see if I can get more production going and of course all the Heirlooms I've come to love. I think you may enjoy Maglia Rosa - it's grape sized and semi determinate.

I'm trying the Trip L Crop for the first time in 2023 and I'm even more excited after seeing your review. The Black Seaman's are really good. My plant died in late in mid-August but I still got quite a few. The tomato that I tried for the first time this past year that blew me away was the Brandywine Pink. Tasted great fresh and in BLT's. They also made the best tomato soup I have ever had in my life.

I know you're not a big fan of green but I think you should at least try Green Zebra. It's got a zippy flavor, tangy... it was surprisingly one of my favorites last year. Not prolific for me for some reason. I would get a ton of blooms and then nothing would happen. I tried to pollinate them as best as I could, too. We also had ridiculous record heat. Bad tomato year. The flavor was worth it, though! This year I'm going to try Aunt Ruby's... I've heard it's so good.
