    Tomatoes are my favorite to grow. I’m trying the darker tomatoes for the first time this year. I’m glad you mentioned that they are good for inflammation because I was told by the dr. that I should stay away from tomatoes because they cause inflammation. I’m sure they mean the red ones. That would be a life saver to have tomatoes and no inflammation ❤❤❤. I really wanted to grow Luke’s Giant Crimson as well. I haven’t been able to get any. I’ve been on the wait list lol

    Hay I'm Columbus Ohio and my salad tomatoes first produced June 20 Gold Nuggets and Sun Sugar. And never quit.
    First slicers black krim and Thornbury Terracotta Started July 1st and never quit.
    I didn't plant until last week of May and I started my own plants and only 1 bloom and 0 tomatoes were on my seedlings.
    Also of 24 bell peppers I had 7 on a picture July 1 and size for stuffing and something to be proud of as many Ohio gardens has struggled.
    Ask me what the biggest reason I am having my best season and I will tell you.
    Favorite tomato for us is Midnight Snack

      My biggest change is as I'm starting my own seedlings. YEAH "Growfully with Jenna " has a 3 step seedlings mixture 1 her basic. No2 adds worm casting and her 3rd includes micorizomes ( check her video I missed spelling a 35 letter word.) But that's the biggest difference as you know many Ohio people has maybe their worst year. I've never did as early. 4 different salad gave me June Tomatoes and Thornbury Terracotta on July first and Black Krim a week later.
      You are gifted at discrimination of different tomatoes great job there girl 👧

      What were your Black Krim's like this year? I thought mine were crap. First year trying them after swapping Cherokee Purple out for Black Krim. Sure they grow big and looked very good, but the taste profile just wasn't there and I found them kind of watery and tasteless. A big disappointment after hearing so much positive things about Black Krim. I won't be growing it again next year now.

    I wasn't impressed by Giant Crimson. I have 4 plants but flavor falls flat & understand why took so long for Luke to produce enough seeds to sell there is not a ton of seeds in them. Make sure you use a blossom bag to prevent cross pollination. Great update 👍
    Love Isis Candy, by far my favorite cherry ever! Ananas Noir is hands down beautiful and super delicious. Yes, I have ton of blossom end rot as well. Was able to salvage what I could lake Erie weather ugh. Mushroom basket similar to Genovise but less cat facing it was my 1st 2lb tomato this year.

      Good to know on Giant Crimson. I haven't gotten to taste one yet, but I think this week I will.

      @bloomandwiltgardens  Год назад

      Hi Mark, which leaves are you asking about? If tomatoes, I prune heavily early season because we get a lot of rain which leads to disease of the plant.

      @@bloomandwiltgardens the tomato plant leaves. They produce the sugar for the plant so it can grow and put out tomatoes. Not to mention flavor them.

    • @bloomandwiltgardens

      @@Mugsmaster Thanks for your comment. There are plenty of leaves left for the plant to produce and get what it needs. Some people choose to leave their plants very bushy. Due to my climate here I prefer to keep them more pruned.

    Do you ever feel bad for eating the tomatoes since they were jus out there trying to live their life and then you eat them?
    Or is that what they want?

    • @bloomandwiltgardens
      @bloomandwiltgardens  Год назад

      Interesting analysis! I have learned that these plants produce fruit with the intention of being consumed in order repopulate. Plants just want to reproduce which is why they make seeds. The seeds are coated in a gel that can pass through the volatile digestive track (acid in stomachs) and come out the other side in tact. Think of an animal that eats a tomato and poops out the seeds. The plant now has the right environment to grow in manure that will only support its nutritional requirement to grow a whole new plant.
      So to answer your question, I don’t feel bad for eating anything my garden produces. 😊
