    Jill, you melt my heart and make me tear up when you say, be nice. You are such a sweetie that I cannot imagine anyone NOT being nice to you. I always feel that the only reason you do videos is to help those of us who need help so much. Being a retired teacher, I am so impressed by someone like you who is able to give such excellent directions. You know there are a lot of us who are in the same boat as you. We are thankful for helping us to look in the mirror and feel pretty again. I’m also hyper sensitive. Geez I thought it was just me who suffers with that. Thank you, sweet lady.

      @@JillLynnBeautyTherapy ok back .if u look at walmart or ur regular pharmacy ,like Walgreens, erc .usually in the ethnic section,there is a product , B&B super-gro.that I promise you will change your hair life ,I might add also the chewable hair & nail vitamins ..Now before u say .yeah yeah .I've tried everything ..listen up .since 18 I have studied hair , spent my life in vitamins and healthy hair products ..my neice was incarcerated at a point in her life )) learning curve (( well when she came home at first of the year her hair was shorter than yours .in july I drove to her home town for sisters birthday .her hair was down beyond her shoulders .Holy Moley .,her secret she learned from a cell mate was the BBSuperGro..oh since I'm hair fanatic I try it and yes .less than a dime size amount rubbed into your hands .then start massaging into root / scalp area . I had no idea HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) was a thing until well into my 40's. It all made sense!! Can you believe I have only just learned about hair toppers. I thank you so much for doing these videos. Not only have I been losing my hair for many years now but I have quite a small head (I am only 5' tall, so I am in proportion), but it does present problems for me with wigs. I am going to get myself a topper and see how I go. I love your videos and I too am very sensitive and I applaud you for taking off your topper as you did. Hi Kay! Thank you... ;) I do see what you mean about many more longer options w/ the hair pieces. BUT, don't forget...they can always be customized. You can trim them to a length that works for you! Check into salons that may be willing to do that for you. I have yet to invest in a human hair topper, but I would think they would be easier to cut and customize vs. a synthetic. (I could be wrong). Thanks for watching!

    Hi Jill...*warm smile....Gosh what can I say, that anyone else hasn't said yet, to let you know how thoroughly I have enjoyed your videos. I have spent the morning watching them...and learning! You are so down to earth and honest about your feelings, which is so endearing. You make this process feel so easy and less intimidating. I feel as though I am speaking with an old friend. Thank you for all your great tips and for sharing your experience! I too am new to toppers and a lover of 12Fs8...*smile. Experimenting has been both fun and frustrating at times. I find that it is a bit harder to find the right piece if one's hairline is not as far back as some of the other videos I have seen. Now that I know your "tip", to move the topper back a bit, I think my dilemma has been solved! I look forward to watching more of your videos. Till next time....Be Bold...Be Brave...Be Blessed!

    I just jumped into your topper pond after watching your video. I have a larger head, where hats never fit my head, so finding a large size wig is an issue. I returned my first ever wig mostly because the color was not suited to my skin tone plus it was still snug (probably needed the adjustment straps cut which I didn't want to do on that particular wig which I planned on returning). This left me disappointed in large size fit wig. Your video showed me I have choices other than a wig. Since I had a credit on the returned wig, I ordered a mono medium rooted topper! I'm hoping this is going to work well! I love watching your videos, I'm learning so much! Thank you. Jill!

    Jill you absolutely rock in this topper. Just perfect on you, but then you look fantastic with anything you plop on your head. You really have the face and features to pull these off effortlessly. I've been wearing a topper for a year now. Used to wear extensions constantly but lost a lot of hair on the top if my head and had to switch to a topper. Thank god for them. Really a lifesaver and a life changer as well. I wear wigs as well and like that I'm able to change them off. Please continue what you're doing. I really enjoy your channel.

    I just ordered this in the same color as yours. It takes so long these days to curl my hair before I go out so now I'm going to just throw this on. No more rollers and fiddling around with the curling iron and root lifting spray. I'm getting too old. This will cut 2 hours off my ''getting ready to go out" time. I also ordered "Top Wave" in a 12-inch topper for when I DO want a bit of fullness. I'll have to place them one inch back to accommodate my bangs so I'm hoping the "bump at the back of the topper" will sit in the right place. Thanks for making these videos. They have made my selection so much easier.

    Hi Jill, I wear my topper in to my hairdresser and have my hair layered with my own hair with some color that matches the topper. My guy was really good at matching not only the color but the amount of blonde inserted so it looks so natural. And I don't have to go to get it redone maybe 2 a year. My natural hair color and thinness is about the same as yours. So I related very much. Love your videos.

    About two years ago I purchased a very expensive human hair topper from a salon that came highly recommended, as they only deal with faux hair clientele. I was never comfortable with it; only wore it once to a wedding, and other than that, I have only worn it one additional time when I went back to have it trimmed and styled, but again, I took it off as soon as I got home. I have always worn my hair off my face, (ponytails, buns, headbands) and even though my hair loss is in the crown area, I still like it back. When wearing the topper I feel like I have an ol’ rubber bathmat laying on my head. Of course the few people that have seen me in it don’t agree, but I just can’t stand it, and I’m not “visually” comfortable wearing it. Too much hanging hair... too much of a change that would draw attention to it...maybe it’s just me!
    I also feel it’s too dense, and because of that I recently purchased on my own a less dense topper... it arrived yesterday and I feel that is too sparse. Maybe it IS me! Now yours looks perfect to me... but I think you’ve developed a confidence since wearing wigs and you’ve figured out how to work with them. As I type this, it’s reached the part of your video where you’re getting emotional and what you’re saying is exactly how I feel... I just need to find the right product and be confident like you.

    • @JillLynnBeautyTherapy
      @JillLynnBeautyTherapy  6 лет назад +4

      Hi Vicki! I think toppers are like wigs when it comes to how our 'eye' has to get use to seeing ourselves with a full head of hair! I do ALSO think that finding a good brand (in both) will increase your chances of having a successful experience. I knew I loved Jon Renau wigs...(my favorite) so, I went with a topper by Jon Renau for my first 'try'. Neither wigs or toppers are going to be perfect....but, you will eventually hit on one that you feel pretty great in, and you can work with it to really make it feel more like you. Have you tried putting a cute headband in your hair when you have toppers on? Do what you would do if you weren't wearing it! ;) Yes, confidence is key...and really it's the ONLY thing needed to pull off wigs/hair pieces of any sort. Truly...if you aren't convinced ...nobody else will be either.

    • @lescwiz419
      @lescwiz419 5 лет назад

      Do you think a Jon Renau synthetic topper is a good starting point? I am hesitant to spend so much money until I see if it works for me. I am guessing you can't return them anywhere if you don't like them? @@JillLynnBeautyTherapy

      Wow i could have wrote this myself! You sound _exactly_ like me same problems, same wants, same needs! I too have always worn my hair off my face I hate hair in my face or eyes it's in a ponytail or bun *always* and that's the only reason I haven't took the jump and purchased a topper (or wig) yet I haven't came across any that can truly be worn up securely off the face in a high ponytail ...honestly thinking they don't exist at this point

I've just gotten my first topper yesterday and, although it is custom made an freaking perfect, I haven't been able to venture out of the house in it yet. • @JillLynnBeautyTherapy
      @JillLynnBeautyTherapy  6 лет назад

      Hi Andrea! You have to feel secure in it before venture out.. CONFIDENCE is key with these things! If you aren't feeling it, nobody else will either. Just remember...I guarantee nobody will ever think it's not your own hair. People just aren't even thinking that....let alone 'looking' for it. ;) YOU GOT THIS! With me...honestly, my confidence wavers...some days I feel fabulous in my faux hair, and other days it's not working for me for some reason?... That's totally normal. Don't beat yourself up if you have a day like that even after you have been wearing wigs/toppers for a long time! At least...that's how it is with me. ;) HAVE fun!

    Hi Jill and greetings from the U.K.
    I have only recently found your site on RUclips and I wanted to thank you for the great content and truly helpful advice.
    I have been researching toppers recently after purchasing 3 full wigs from Jon Renau, all Shaded Praline...yes I think I share your addiction to this colour 🙂
    I have almost identical hair as yourself in colour, length and stage of loss and so was fascinated to learn from your invaluable experience with your first
    topper.
    I am excitedly awaiting my Top Notch delivery later this week and in the meantime I’m going to experiment with your Morphe palette eyeshadow tutorials.
    Keep up the good work for us mature ladies!

      Hi dee, I'm also in the UK, may I ask you where you purchased your Jon Renau pieces from? If they were from the states what was the custom duty like? All of the good wig makers and websites are in the states but I'm too scared to buy from them because of the return process it sounds like an expensive nightmare If you need to return for whatever reason! And not knowing how much you're going to pay in customs is a bit off putting too

    Your. GREAT‼️‼️ I’ve purchased a topper with very narrow strip not really a cap. Measures 3 in wide on top tapers down a bit and 5 in long I wear my hair back in kinda of French twist. Well I’m ready for more hair but I digress my question is do you prefer mono cap with or. Without lace front .? And why ? You’ve made this experience less scary. You have no idea how that feels. WELL MAYBE YOU DO ‼️‼️ that’s why your so good at what you do. THANKS. BUNCHES 😘

    Hi Jill, I have watched quite a few of your videos, and started wearing full wigs in October, because my hair id thinner than yours is in this video. I was going to buy a Noriko wig that you reviewed but I want to feel my hair move and topper seems to be the answer. Thank you for such an informative video. You are amazing.

    Wow wow wow... love this idea!!! I've been struggling with wig wearing in summer (despite being in Scotland) since starting wearing wigs...this look sooo much easier and more comfortable... only problem I have is my hair loss is from ear to ear like a headband.. roughly 2 or 3 inches in depth from hairline... I don't think the topper you have would suit me, but you mentioned 3/4 toppers.. I'm gonna investigate this... Thank you for this video and all the info 😘😘😘😘😘

    I think this looks wonderful on you! Glad you are experimenting with toppers, you will be much cooler in the summer! I did the same thing you did, jumped into wigs and then backed into toppers after my first summer. I live in the south wear yesterday it was 80 (yes in February!), so toppers are a life saver to me. I however cannot wear synthetic toppers. I have naturally curly hair so have to straighten my hair, and in the humidity my hair would frizz but the synthetic topper didn't and it looked awful. I've found human hair toppers work much better for me, and I also prefer a silk top, as to me looks more realistic. I think in toppers there is something for everyone, much like wigs. Hope you enjoy your topper, especially this summer!

    I’m so happy you cleared up the issue of the fullness at the crown with the full mono top and the sew’n in wefting. I have watched Patri’s videos as well and know that she had mentioned customizing her clients toppers to create the fullness at the crown. I didn’t really understand what she meant until today, which now explains why I have issues with my 1st ever topper which I’ve had for about a month. I’ve ordered top secret and it will be here later today and I am so excited!!!! I love TOOPERS and learned all about them On RUclips and this topper even with the more flat crown area has changed my life and my confidence, so, thank you for this and all your other videos.

      Jill Lynn Beauty Therapy Hello Jill. I do have a topper I wear regularly. It's the easy part XL human hair topper. I have really enjoyed it but I am so over human hair toppers/wigs. They are very natural looking but take way too much work also I find that it's not as comfortable to wear as I would like. I ordered the top notch after watching your video. Thank you again for the great info Jill.

      Hi Silver Tinsel! There are some nice, lightweight wigs out there that hopefully will be a pretty comfortable option for you. Definitely pay attention to the 'ounces' that is always listed in their listings! Also, pay attention to cap construction over the length of the hair. ..Open wefts are definitely cooler than a closed cap/ and even cooler than the 100% hand-tied ones too. I have had very short closed cap wigs that were VERY warm. I hope you find a couple wigs you are comfortable in! Thanks so much for watching!

    Hi Jill. I just found you a couple of hours ago. Oh my gosh, I've been researching wigs so much, I didn't even know about toppers! I am having weight loss surgery and will likely be losing a fair amount of hair. Not to mention, I'm 66 yo and already kinda thin!! This is exciting as I have bio hair. Have been wearing my hair quite short for some years. But I look forward to adding a new dimension to my research. My hair is quite silvery, probably close to "silvery moon", not to much medium gray in it at all. So am going to take a trip up to Portland to find a few wig shops. I'm so glad I found you and your channel!! Look forward to exploring it thoroughly.

    I’m so happy to have found this video. I was actually considering this topper but dismissed it thinking I need a full wig because of not being able to use the clips. I’m losing my hairline from temple to temple. (Very scary) otherwise I have plenty of healthy hair everywhere else. I bought the JR Top Wave 12” back in January but felt that it looked too wiggy. also I was afraid of traction alopecia from the clips and I never used it, until two days ago. I was desperate as my thinning has progressed. So I put it on a little further back in order to clip into healthy hair and I did not use the front center clip. It felt very secure and was virtually unnoticeable but again too wiggy. So I clipped it half up half down and also clipped up into a messy doo. I wore it to church and felt perfectly normal. A salesperson at my local wig store told me just last week that an option would be to move the clips to a safer place and use glue at the front hairline. So now I’m rethinking toppers and this one in particular thanks to you. My question is this. You say in this video that there is a topper for everyone . Given my details, do you think I can work with this topper? If not, why, and is there another piece that might work better? Also, would I be able to cut the bangs to a full fringe if I decided I wanted to do so?
    Thank you so very much, I for one value your efforts in doing these reviews as you come across as honest, sincere, and trustworthy and just oh so natural :)

    Thanks for your video. I have been wearing wigs for a few years, first because I just didn't want to deal with spending so much time on my hair, only to have to muck up if the weather was not favorable. Now, I have started loosing my hair (along with 70% of the female population), and as much as I don't particularly like it, I am not stressed about it b/c I have hair options (wigs). However, recently I discovered toppers. I really like them and just ordered by fourth one. I think you look great with your topper btw and that color is so you...not that other colors would not look gorgeous on you.

    I also want to let gals know that Raquel Welsh top billing is a lace front topper. So the front blending into my bangs is so easy and I'm also able to do it with no bangs moving the lace front forward. With that one you don't have to worry about blending the edge of topper it you scalp as much.

    I'm trying toppers b/c medical issues is making my hair fall out . waaaaaaaa. May I politely point out youmay want to try shampooing w/o parabens or sulfates. Then rinse your hair with cold rice water. (I just make my own with rice & water but put in spray bottle & keep in fridge) I use conditioner b/c my hair is fine and tangles easy. The rice water acts as a detangler as well. But once you blow dry it makes your hair poofy. Don't ask me how or why but I think u will like it! I got this topper as my 1st but the 12FS12. (I also got the easipart HD Xl in same color but there must have been a quality control issue b/c the color was not only much darker but almost more ashy. I returned. I HAD to keep this one b/c when I just put on to see how it worked with my color, the net got caught in my glasses! I had to shake the topper a hundred ways to get it off. So I figured they would think I wore it so here I am. Yours looks lighter and thicker. I love your honesty about how the wigs feel and what works for you. OMG u have a video w glasses as I wear them too.! Thank you for your instructions. VERY helpful!!
    p.s. Do you have a whole wig closet like some of the others here? I can't afford all of them!

    So I found this video just a couple of weeks ago in my never-ending search for hair and wig solutions. And based on this video alone I bought the Top Notch in Shaded Praline. I almost don't know what to say. It's been a revelation. I was lucky enough to get it delivered just before we went into the horrible Coronavirus lockdown here in the UK, so I've been able to 'practice' wearing it in the safety of my own home. I followed your tutorials on how to apply and disguise the topper (and bought some fill-in powder).
    I really have almost exactly the same hair as you and the same problems as you. Wigs lying weirdly over my ears, wigs being hot and uncomfortable, wigs not staying put and slipping backwards. Wigs just not looking real. I've tried extensions but like you say, my hair on top 'looked like crud' lol. I have such fine hair on top, at my hairline and the crown (PCOS of course) but it's quite 'normal' around the nape and sides.
    I also love wearing sunglasses in the summer and yes, you can't wear them with wigs! It's a nightmare! So here I am ... waiting for the moment I'll be able to go back to work with this topper on. I feel that since no-one will have seen me for ages I won't be suddenly appearing with this amazing hair. I know people often see what they expect to see. I've cut my biohair to match the topper and OMG you really just can't see it. My husband loves it. When I go to put my topper on he calls it 'doing your hair'. He forgets I'm wearing it - and what's even more amazing - I forget I'm wearing it! I don't get headachy and my scalp isn't itchy. I could go on and on and on but honestly for the first time in years I look in the mirror and I look like me. And I look about 10 years younger, lol. I have dyed my hair to a medium brown to match the roots of the topper. Originally I thought I'd have to get some blonde highlights but looking at the topper on me, and looking at you I realise that's not the case and I can give my hair a break from the bleach.
    So very, very, very happy. Thankyou so much for helping me get on this journey. I can't wait to get another topper!!! xxxx

    Hello, Jill. I'm new to wigs (and still trying to adjust to the fact that my hair is leaving me and will probably never come back...:-(...) so this video was very helpful for me. My bio hair looks very much like yours as far as texture goes. My one concern is that the topper clips might, eventually, start to pull out my bio hair where the clips are. You look lovely in this topper and I thank you so much for sharing this with us. I look forward to your review of how the topper affects your bio after repeated use. Thank you. Rhonda

      Hi Rhonda! I do straighten my hair before I put the topper on, and I use a smoothing spray as well or/ other like product. My fine hair can get that cotton candy frizz thang. I will be talking about the clip thing in a new video...how important it is to make sure they are comfortable, and secured into strong hair. I will be keeping everyone updated on continued comfort and how the clips are effecting my own hair and scalp for that matter. ;) Thanks for watching! hugs~

      I notice a little thinning where clips are but have been wearing toppers for 2 yrs, very happy and trying not to be concerned if I lose a little hair from clips as I will never go back to just bio hair , ever! So happy to have hair that looks nice!

      You are further ahead of the game than I am, Jane....I'm still mourning about my thin, shedding hair. I've been on a wig buying frenzy but have yet to have the confidence to wear one away from my home. I think the topper looks like a great idea. What brand do you use? I'd love to try the JR than Jill has but it's too expensive for me at this point. I've purchased 16 wigs in the last three weeks!!! It's already an addiction I have to stop!!

      I know, wig buying is expensive when you 1st start. I have a Box full of about 18 wigs I do not wear. Then you get the hang of what you like and get used to the colors, and also get used to wearing it, and not being in secure. Well kind of not being in secure. I am a Nurse,I work in really bright lights,
      I have learned how to trim mine up and thin them out, I have never been asked, Other than by a couple of girls that asked if I had some extensions. When they ask me I just say yes , I let them believe I have a couple of extensions. Kind of the same thing. I don't think I need to go into further detail. I actually think it's kind of rude when they ask. My own kids do not know that I wear toppers that's how well they blend. Call and ask for help When you want to order something. I use Cryster wigs they are excellent helping you with color,cost, and style. And they always have coupons!
      I wear top notch by J.R. And always wait to get them until they have 30% off, than I Get my extra so when I wear this one out I have it.
      I have also worn JR, Top secret, I think it is called. It is only about a $123. In fact I just ordered one when they had a sale. It's a lot thinner in hair, but it's plenty for me. It is so nice to not have to worry about my hair in the mornings! I have to be at work between 615 and 630 so I don't have time to fret over it. And it never looked good 30 minutes after I worked on it anyways! I have gone through menopause in my hair is baby fine, worse than it ever was before! Hope this helps you, ask me any questions any time I can be of help.
