TCS has announced that it is going to train hundreds of IT employees working at TCS on generative AI skills. If you are wondering how to learn AI while working in TCS, Infosys, Wipro, or any other IT services company then you are at the right place at the right time. Since generative AI has a huge potential not only for businesses but also for tech employees, the number of AI engineers needed today against the actual number of engineers available is pretty low. This is why these corproate upskilling programs are being initiated. However, here’s a catch, these programs will not benefit everyone, because of how these programs are implemented.
If you are thinking how to upskill yourself in AI while working in IT industry then relying on these courses alone might not be a great strategy for you. The process of how to upskill in AI is similar to how to upskill in IT industry or how to upskill in technology. It revolves around the fact that you have your basics clear and have a deep understanding of the fundamentals of any skill. How to learn AI? First of all, you need to know the fundamentals of generative AI and you should know how to learn AI tools faster by understanding how these tools work. How to learn AI course cannot be a one shot solution to learning AI. If you are thinking how to upskill yourself in AI while you still have a job then I believe you should focus on integrating multiple courses along with learning where your interest lies. Your interest is of utmost importance because many of us buy a course and never use it. How to learn AI for beginners? There are many beginner-friendly AI courses out there that will give you the gist of how AI and ML work without being overwhelming. If you want to know how to learn AI ML from scratch, then these beginner friendly courses are a good place to start.
If you want to understand how to learn AI ML for free then one of the best ways is to audit the Coursera courses on AI and ML. Upskilling yourself in AI or learning from AI courses can help you a lot in getting a higher salary or moving to another AI company. Moving from service company to a product company from your IT job in TCS WIpro Infosys can happen at a faster face if you master AI skills. You can follow the AI upskilling roadmap shared in a few older videos to learn AI in 2024.

Even in my organisation I have completed my GenAI training in 1 day by just taking online course and answering 20-25 mcq questions.
As you said right " Mandate training" complete quickly to meet numbers, to display to customers to say we are AI enabled. Very good thought " Create a group for AI" This is need for hour to move jointly rather competing each other.
The article says that TCS has trained its employees on Generative AI .
Generative AI is more about prompt engineering ( creative stuff of AI) and does not include all the complex stuff ( Model building, Building application using AI, fine tuning the models ) etc. Google / Nvidia/ Microsoft have a 1-2 hours course on Introduction to Generative AI. My guess is TCS has trained its employees on this.

This is marketing gimmick this bodyshoppers r master in that client also knows they know nothing about core AI skills but project will go to them because of cheap labour ,I personally know they trained resources with some AI jargons to fool the client our resources are trained with AI :)
