All I can think is that River really is Rory's daughter, "More then every living thing in the universe," "Yes." "Your girlfriend doesn't matter more then the entire universe." "She does to me!"
That's good writing
I mean Rory was a Spartan and time lord lore is very Spartan-roman esk so it's fitting
Rory is the last centurion and Amy is the girl who waited
@@miletilblight2181 Roman, not spartan - there's a few hundred years between the Spartan Phalanx & the Roman Legion
I thought about that too, it's pretty cute xD
@@miletilblight2181 : Yes, but the girl waited for The Doctor, not Rory. Rory certainly waited for her, though. And in a way, one version of herself spends eternity waiting, so that another version of herself gets to be with Rory. It wouldn't do to ever make Rory out to be TOO smart and competent, and they went out of their way to display his ignorance, but he was steadfast and all-sacrificing.
He was also just a more competent character, more athletic, after all that time as the Last Legionnaire. At least that's my impression as a viewer. That was some good story telling, for a fan who doesn't mind if it takes a long time for the payoff, if the payoff's worth it. I think they hit the mark until the Jody Whittaker tenure. You see this happen to entertainment franchises, nowadays. People always want to inject their religion into it, and it wrecks the storytelling. One of the sub-plots is the long and fruitful relationship between Amy and Rory.
That awkvard moment when your imaginery friend who is kinda your crush marries your daughter who is older than you. Relatable.
thatonecoolpirate
That awkward moment when you get killed by your wife in front of your wife and your best friend who is pregnant with your wife...
Relatable??
Not her crush.
@@hellopeoplez8636 ikr happens all he time to me
Agghh it happens soo many timessss
I love how Rory just accepts that River is their daughter so easily. Like I've seen so many weird things today and this is by far the weirdest, but I'm going to accept it anyway.
you can just feel and tell its your daughter, Its a Father and Daughter gift "Family gift" like if you were adopted and you go to idk Marks & Spencer's and you walk past a man who you felt like you met him before. its just one of those things like telepafic thingy
ThisIsHow WeParty Irl people who are related who didn't know one another growing up tend to be sexually attracted to each other.
To be fair, there's a Hell of a lot going on at this moment, learning he's got a daughter is comparatively normal.
Rory tends to take everything in stride. Once he's had a bit of time to adjust to the idea of the Doctor being real and coming back into their lives, he's basically good to go. Just watch the first time he was in the Tardis - he really just rolled with it, didn't he?
In all fairness after dying so many times you probably become quite accustomed to strange stuff.
"There's only one reason I'd tell anyone my name. There's only one time I could."-10th Doctor in The Library. When River sacrifices herself.
Spud620 spoiler alert to anyone who didnt see past this point. but he lied about it being his name. that wasnt what he really told her. i like to think that he told her his name during one of their nights out when she was locked up. prolly like a bedroom thing if you catch my drift

Rory is the mainfestations of Whovians within the show
So my daughter is my best friend's wife. Cool
So my wife is a ganger and pregnant. Sure, let's save her
So I'm plastic and a Roman. What else is new?
So there are dinosaurs on a spaceship. Anything else?

George Weasley Seriously Rory lost his ability to be surprised a loooong time ago
Probably after death 3? Or what ever number there is

The fact that he uses his bow tie makes it very special because that is his thing
I don't think that's a thing in normal weddings witch is why I'm pretty sure this is a timelord wedding witch is really neat
It's got the feel of an IRL cultural tradition, but I think it's clearly supposed to be the short version of a Time Lord wedding.
After all, bow ties are cool.
I agree about it being particular to him and special in that way.

ikr that was one of my favourite things about Rory, no matter how weird everything is he just picks up the ball and runs with it
I think he just reached that point where he would believe anything
I think my favourite thing about River's arc is that, from her perspective, at least, she grows so much. She starts out as such a psychopath thanks to the Silence, to the point where she puts the whole of time and space at risk due to her love of the Doctor, but over time, her love grows to be a lot more healthy. To the point where she's ready to sacrifice herself to save everyone. It's also the exact opposite of Rose, who started out as a wonderful three-dimensional character, but over time, grew so obsessed with the Doctor, that she was willing to put not one but two whole universes at risk to get back to him.
+James Aggas Indeedy.

I thought it was "Please", because when the Doctor shouted that on trenzalore, the Tardis openef it's doors (I know it was actually River who said his name)
"I can't let you die, without knowing you are loved! by so many and so much and by NO ONE more than ME!!"
You know what, the hell with everything, that line. that one line made this entire relationship for me.
Takes so much courage and feeling to say something like that.

I love how Rory says it like he has no idea what hes consenting to but when Amy realizes what the doctor is doing she says it strongly, like theres no one else she'd rather her daughter marry than her best friend in the whole universe.
Exactly!
You guys. When they kissed, time moved, it MOVED. I just can't even...
Miss Myoozikal Other times, time just stops.

THE DOCTOR LOVES RIVER THATS WHAT YOUR SAYING
Miss Myoozikal Time moves all the time. It usually never stops.
This was broken and non-functional in every possible way here, @@seandabest6353. Nothing ever happened. Everything always happens, forever. Stuck at 5:02 PM for all eternity. That sort of thing.
It didn't move, _except_ when they kissed.
When he regenerates: "The writers have decided that the universe is better off without you, but the fans don't agree"
It just occured to me now.. the Doctor didn’t know how much River loved him. Going there, he knew he was safe and was planning to save the universe same as he’d always have, alone, keeping his secrets close to his sleeves. But learning how much River loved him, he realized he couldn’t do it alone, and that he can trust her completely. ❤️
Man, Matt Smith is such a good actor. I loved him as the doctor, but also seeing him now in House of Dragons. He is able to be so many things, sad, scary, charming, funny, goofy, angry, caring, loving, all in a matter of minutes.
I watched morbius as a joke and whilst it's not a good movie by any means Matt Smith brings so much to his character, to the point where I'd actually say his character was interesting. The writing isn't great but Matt really works with it to make the character his own and I genuinely enjoyed the scenes with him in it.
Matt Smith is so underrated. Why can’t more people see that.
Yeah, for sure. I remember not being sure about him at first when he replaced David, but after a bit I was definitely into him, he was probably my second favorite to play the role so far. I stopped watching just after the next guy took over, but am considering continuing on where I left off; I'm sure the older guy did a good job also.... Admittedly I might skip the 13th if it's woke, but I guess I'll see.
Definitely going to watch the 14th though, David was my absolute favorite. I think I started watching when David was just at the start of his part, but I absolutely loved him. I rewatched the premier to see the 9th, and he was ok, but I wasn't super into him.
I must say I love River Song and Eleven so much together.
"There's only one reason one reason only I would ever tell someone my name."
"I'm filling out an application!"
Except this wasn't that moment. Later in the same episode, in the proper timeline and universe, Amy and River discussed the events of this aborted universe and River admitted that the Doctor didn't tell her his name (Rule number 1, the Doctor lies) but instead revealed to her that he was piloting the Teselecta justice vehicle which was in the form of his own body. He bent the rules around fixed points in time by allowing himself to be seen dying at that spot.
To the best of my knowledge, we don't know when exactly the Doctor told River his name, but I would guess it to be sometime during their night on Darillium together.
Series 6 was pretty interesting how it completely revolved around the doctors supposed death. But like always, the doctor found another way to escape death, and he did it in a cleaver and brilliant fashion.
Jack McCullough yeah, i wasn't really to fond of series 6, at the time I was missing the 10th Doctor
still
All this talk about Doctor Who is putting me in the mood to do a reaction video to the 50th anniversary. I mean, I've already done a video in celebration of the 50th, so, who knows, i might do a reaction video.
AH, FRESH MEAT
Series 6 was not that bad. Series 7 after "The angels take manhattan" went downhill (Except "Day of the Doctor")
God, that line "You've touched so many lives, saved so many people, did you think when your time came you'd really have to do more than just ask?" will forever remain one of my favourite quotes from all of Doctor Who and I will keep coming back here forevermore to here it. If you're someone who puts the well being of your friends and family above your own on a constant basis, but are going through a serious struggle yourself, that message hits like a train. In the good way, I just didn't have a non-violent way to put it. I just love this bit so much
River: "What am I doing?"
Doctor: "As you're told."

Moffat Who is just light years ahead of the Cibnall era. The romance, the cleverness, the wit. The acting, the one time Doctor Who was the best show in the world.
Indeed
if the doctor married river song in this, that means he's cheating on queen Elizabeth the first
adam seiter yeah the thought ran through my mind when the 10th doctor married Queen Elizabeth in the 50th anniversary
Greliak And the Doctor never looked back at Queen Elizabeth and that's why in the episode The Shakespeare Code, Queen Elizabeth wants to kill the doctor
Greliak Well, 10th doctor to 11th... Different people yet not :)
To be fair, Elizabeth had been dead for a few hundred years before River showed up.

@@W0X42A 1000%!!! LoL
Thats nuts, when she whispered in 10's ear it was the equivalent to showing a marriage license.
Here's something to consider: River was right about the Doctor only needing to ask for help to receive it. The crew of the Teselecta helped him when he asked and kept his secret despite previously being his enemy and the Time Lords helped him when Clara asked. Both did it because of all the good the Doctor has done for the universe.
WarGrowlmon18 The crew of the Teselecta may have been at odds with the Doctor, they definitely disagreed on some things, but they were never enemies.
1:18 that was the moment Amy and Rory *truly* realized how much River/Melody loves The Doctor, and how much he loves her
He has so many wives. Why does he pretend she's the only one he married.
@@nadenhwa513 cuz Moffat probably idk
Tbf she also seems to be the one he refers to as his wife, for example with 12 it’s her photo he keeps on her desk and refers to as “his wife” with bill. I think although he’s been “married” several times River is the one he actually officially sees as his wife too
Anyone: “River, kiss, marry, kill: The Doctor, Rory, Amy”
River be like: “Doctor Doctor Doctor”
I, personally, think that River and the Doctor DO love each other and this wedding was a mutual decision. I mean, it isn't just like she's a normal human. They are like, this really great match. And she certainly loves him as she sacrifices herself for him in the library.

I love how when river said she would suffer more than every living thing in the universe if she had to kill the doctor and rory looks at amy like he knows exactly what she is talking about
That "ok" from Rory : priceless
My favourite episode! I loved River Song from the first episode she was in and I love what they did with her character.
I just wished we have more mini episodes about their dates. They seem like such a fun thing.
There was one mini episode with them on a date, or a least trying to go on a date. It's titled "Rain Gods"
+EpicGravity908 yeah. I've seen that one. :)
Do you folks not realize that The Doctor will out live Rose and everyone else. He has seen everyone he knows and loves die. River is a chance for him to find some joy again and i say good for him. (esp if shes part timelord)
Denise Rosenthal but she isn't when she saves him when for her they first meet
+Denise Rosenthal yea....river died.
+Denise Rosenthal But River can't regenerate anymore.
Well rose is like 30 something now and it's a different world so MaNY THINGS!
Except he has already seen River die.
What's with all of the hate going on here? I've been watching Dr Who since I was 7 years old and River and 11 are just my most favourite couple by far! I loved the whole storyline and all of the little twists and clever links Moffat made in the devising of the episodes. This and 'The Angels Take Manhattan' are two of my most favourite episodes to ever air!
I just found River Song's character and especially her story to be poorly written and annoying. I don't really watch Doctor Who for long story arcs. But hey, that's your opinion. I guess it depends on whether you like River Song or not.
The Wedding of River Song is one of the most terrible abysmal piece of garbage I've seen in my opinion.
I think the story was well written, but I watched the story of rose and the doctor first (when I was really little), so they'll probably always be my favourite. I also am not too fond of river herself. just every episode she showed up I got annoyed with it. but I will agree the story itself is cool(:
Erin Matthew Rose and 10 used to be my favourite, but I just adore and idolise Alex Kingston anyway and I think River was one of the best Dr Who characters, but I totally get why people dislike her, she was either a love her or hate her character, it causes total division :)
Rebecca Argent yea I totally get that! the love/hate her part. I mean hates a strong word lol, but I really didn't like her much:/ the story of her was cool and the story of her and the doctor was amazing. but as many times as I tried to make myself like her and like them together BECAUSE the story was great, I couldn't.
they've moved on from the whole rose era and rose and the doctor were supposed to work, but I still continue to think of them and they'll always be my favourite. maybe because I started watching it when I was 7 too, so I always think back to that. I think the doctor/rose was the first love story I really felt. I ofcourse watched disney princess movies when I was younger but none of those love stories really got to me the way doctor and rose did. so I guess I'll always go back to that time and they will always be my favourite. but I *totally* get why people prefer the doctor + river story :)
"There's only one reason I would ever tell anyone my name. There's only one time I could..."

P.S Thank god River has a guest appearance in the christmas special , although I do not know my reaction when it will be Capaldi instead of Smith as the Doctor...I can not disagree that he is a great doctor , but my feelings for the 11th are very powerful , and him and River will always be my favourite otp couple ♥......
+MerWhoLock i soo feel you
***** Well I definitely was . It was a fun episode but in the end when River recognised him ...:'))
My favorite scene in the history Doctor Who. It's so dramatic. "Shut up! I can't let you die. Without knowing you are loved by so many and so much. And by no one more than me." Has got to be my favorite line in the show.
For all of those who haven't seen this episode yet:

I really miss River Song scenes they were so good and powerful... I feel this is missing in the last couple of seasons/doctors
The Doctor actually becomes somebody's equal! I can't believe it! He here has done more emotional growth than he has since the Time War! And I am bawling my eyes out.
I always felt that a good line for right after the Doctor says, "I hope you're proud," was for Amy to say something like "Yes! I'm very proud!"
"We got married and had a kid. Thats her" Rory "Ok."
The way he says "I just told you my name" is kind of passionate, charming and sexy at the same time.
You've decided the universe is better off without you, but the universe doesn't agree. This saved me from suicidal thoughts so many times.
This will always be my favorite episode from this season.
I believe that the Doctor did end up telling River his true name because in the Name of the Doctor episode the password to open the doors of the TARDIS/ the Doctors tomb, was his name and River knew it.
+Dynastie Santos i think he told her in 'let's kill hitler'. when he's on the point of death and young river wants to help him, he tells her to take a message to river song for him (before young river knows that's her). he whispers something in her ear and we never find out what it is. it's implied that he says he loves river because young river says 'im sure she knows' but that reaction would work just as well if the doctor whispered 'my name is ----' ... he's demonstrated that he cares deeply about river song so young river would assume that she knows his name.
In the library he states there's only one time he could tell her his name. Moffat himself said he could only tell her his name when they married so they obviously did at some point they just never showed it.
She said how she got to know the name in the episode "Name of the Doctor" when she's with Madame Vastra, Clara, and some other people doing a "spiritual meeting" kkkkkk
probably told her the the 24 yr night on derillium in their final meeting in the christmas episode after giving her a sonic screwdriver as a gift on their dinner date
VERNONTHECRAFTER yeah that is now also seeming like a likely option XD
Matt's acting is freaking brilliant!!!
"I can't let you die, without knowing you are loved. By so many, and so much. And by no one more than me." Steven's words + Alex's brilliance = 😭💔😭💔😭💔😭💔
You know how people say time stops or whatever when they look that the one they love but for them(the doctor x river) times begin again and I just omg feels. The way they got married is just way to perfect for them it omg feels.
I've watched it for like million times and still cry as if for the first time.😭😭😭😭
I miss him so much , he was the best doctor for me ! Amy Rory and River the perfect team
I agree
Now imagine the 12th Doctor re-uniting with River Song (Peter Capaldi acting along side with Alex Kingston).
That'd be nice, though I think we've seen the last of River Song, with the Doctor finally accepting her death 300 years later (10 was around 904, Eleven said he was 1207 in Day of the Doctor) in "Name of the Doctor".
***** Yeah, I think that too, but I cross my fingers so Capaldi might think that 11th was a pussy and live some adventures with her (previous to the library). Maybe 11th's time with River is over. No one said anything about 12th's ^^
Daniel Parejo That's stretching it. We've seen River's timeline. It starts at "A Good Man goes to War" and ends at "Forest of the Dead". Eleven and River's journals are of the time they spent together. There's nothing about Twelve. Eleven has been holding in his pain over River's loss since Ten. That's two completely different personalities and incarnations. Twelve will move on
***** Just like 11 had no lingering thoughts on Rose.
Liz Graham Key word "Had". He's had lingering thoughts since he met her, and those culminated in "The Name of the Doctor" where he finally accepts her death. River's character arc is complete.
I love how clear he makes it that she can tell no one his name. When he already knows that she's eventually going to tell someone
I just love how River loves him, thats just a better lovestory than twilight, every lovestory is better than twillight
This should be in the Guiness book of world records (or something like that) marked as: THE BEST MOMENT IN THE HISTORY OF TIME AND SPACE!!!!
This show already has one which is successful longest running sci-fi tv show.
+Abhinav Chandra yeah and Matt Smith is in it because he is the youngest Doctor if I remember correctly
_Bella.1640 _ it has a number of world record’s that I don’t think will ever be broken. The day of the Doctor movie/50th anniversary special that record will never be broken being broadcasted live in nearly every single country and city on television and in movie theatres at the same time all over the world. Something that’s never been done before and I don’t think it will ever happen again. The 8th Doctor’s online mini episode when he regenerates into the War Doctor broke the online record for the fastest and most watched mini episode ever. And Paul McGann holds both records for being the shortest and longest serving Doctor (by default because of the movie and nothing of Doctor Who being made for television until the revival!) But he still holds the both records the shortest Doctor to play on television but also the longest because he still played/plays the Doctor on the Big Finish story’s!
_Bella.1640 _ totally agree 💖
this moment can't be " The best moment in the history of time and space" because they were out of time. u.u
24 years...
I can't seem to stop watching this. Even though it makes me cry every time. Alex and Matt are such a great pairing.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate all the hard work the crew of the Tesalecta was doing to make sure that they put up an unquestionably real Doctor stand-in? I mean, usually the Tesalecta is really stiff and robotic but WOW check out all the emotion it puts on display, just to pull off the Doctor's latest trick of escaping death. Bravo Tesalecta!!! 👏👏👏
I get a feeling that the Doctor might have been piloting it at that point
This resolution didn't bother me so much. A lot of people seem to think the Doctor's relationship with River makes no sense, but to me, it makes perfect sense. She's probably the only being left alive in the universe that can match his intelligence and doesn't want him killed, and deeply cares about him. The real problem with the episode is in the Silence's initial plan to kill him. We never get a good, sensable explanation as to why they need River specifically in the suit, nor do they explain how she was able to drain her weapons system.
Also, it's really sad they never bothered to give us clips from Series 7B outside of The Name of the Doctor, because Series 7, in my opinion, was pretty good, and there were also many incredible moments, especially the famous 'Final Speech' to the planet Akhaten/Old God/Grandfather.
River drains the suit by shooting the weapon and missing until it's drained. The Silence's plan is a pre-destination paradox. They need River there in the suit, because River was there in the suit.
You know The Doctor has a plan when he goes from "A fixed point in time has been rewritten." to "I'm gonna need a strip of cloth about a foot long."
I finally got it! When Matt says he will make it a good one
that means he would try to make the machine/clone to do it...
"Shut up! I can't let you die, without knowing you are loved by so many and so much...and by no one more than me!" My favorite Dr. Who moment!!
I love how the marriage ceremony isn't a typical wedding ceremony like on earth. It is a little different and with no real religious tones making it a Gallifreyan wedding service!
Superb acting - they even have tears in their eyes!
River : I'll suffer if i have to kill you.
The Doctor : More than every living thing in the universe?
River : Yes.
And you tell me they don't love each other. Yes sure.
My husband and I do this exactly and we both cry every time because that's the kind of love we have for each other
I think this may have been the only time in canon that River actually said that she loved him directly to him. Usually it's "I hate you" as a substitute, and in the 12th Doctor's special with River when she spoke of loving him it wasn't to him, it was to the others in the room (and she didn't realize yet that he was there). 0:42
"What am I doing?" "As you're told." Thanks, that explains everything.
I love how Rory just doesn't even question it 😍😍
WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT 2:05
"what am i doing?"
"as you're told"
SIR- [spoilers below --> ]
also the fact that from the moment the doctor met river he knew he was going to marry her because she'd said his name to him in the library, and it was implied that he could only ever say that if he married her... so he knew this was inevitable
There was a different doctor?
Isn't the fabric he uses for the wedding vows (the bowtie) part of the Teselecta, or is the Teselecta wearing a bowtie?
In my opinion, Teselecta is wearing a bowtie in this particular moment. It got new clothes on the ship where "Doctor" that was held as a prisoner was taken from Pantheon(or whatever) by Amy Pond.
1:30
Amy: "We got married and had a kid a that's her"
Rory: "Okay"
lol XD
The only reason why most of you don't like their relationship is because of the age difference between Matt and Alex. If the roles were reversed then I'm sure you all would like their relationship. I know something about chemistry and River and the Doctor had it.
Those people are crazy. Alex and Tennant didn't really have any chemistry. Matt and Alex had this amazing chemistry, they seemed to be very much attracted to one another andyou can tell.
Megan Everson 100% agreed here. I love this scene and think that the flirtatious movements between both characters is amazing
I 100% agree and even though tennant and alex didnt have chemistry it doesnt matter because they just introduced her then and wgen she came along in the eleven seasons it was just perfect! I absolutely adored them together!
I love the diferent age its so cute 😍
So do I, just I feel like that's why all these people hate them as a couple.
the way she says "By no one more than me" is kinda heart breaking
Good news
River is returning with peter capaldi in the Christmas episode
+Crying Dove No...
+SunnieUrieCarlile yep. But she won't recognise him. Also, there is going to be some romance with river and the doctor in the Christmas special
Mark Dorsi ?
+Mark Dorsi She will recognise, its confirmed that it will be Alex Kingston, The "Old" River knows him.
+Crying Dove That's so exciting! I think the chemistry between River and the twelfth doctor will be really interesting. I hope she continues to drop by from time to time even after the Christmas special.
IM STILL NOT OVER THIS
this is like one of the best scenes of doctor who
“You’ve decided that the universe is better off without you, but the universe doesn’t agree” ❤️❤️❤️
i love how the doctor trys to talk a few seconds into the video and just gets interupted by river.
I just don’t get how the Doctor looks down on himself, just look at him and what he’s done. How the heck can he of all people believe we isn’t loved by several worlds?
elisabeth Haraldsson I know :( The poor man thinks he's a failure because he 'killied' his entire race
elisabeth Haraldsson there were quite a few people who died because of him. and lives that were ruined. at one point river says to never let him see the damage. he might do tons of good but he never ever forgets the bad. im even fairly certain in the 50th that he really remembered and just lied cause he was trying to move on even though he couldnt
elisabeth Haraldsson As the Moment said, he's the Man Who Forgets. He doesn't like to think of his past and doesn't believe he's worth saving. And also remember Rule 1: the Doctor lies. He knew that even if he fixed the timeline he'd survive because of the Teselecta so he was probably just annoyed by River's efforts to save him against his wishes and didn't want to reveal the truth.
He was attacked personally pretty brutally by characters in season 5 and 6 (including Rory even). In fact I think this started with Davros "exposing" his nature to Rose in Journey's End.
I love how nothing surprises Rory anymore
The actress portraying Amy is incredibly beautiful. She also did a great job in Guardians of the Galaxy
Karen Gillan
This time he actually found where to put his hands
Couldn't it be possible for the doctor to upload the conciousnes of his 11th self in the library to be with River?
I really like the clock effect. Really adds to the 'Universe: Reload from last good save ' vibe.
River: What am I doing?
Doctor: As your told
Me: Yes Zaddy
00:51 Aww, the deliverance of that line just kills me so much! Tortured love.
Anyone else tear up when River tells him that the entire universe is willing to help the Doctor?
We Whovians would do anything in our power to help him if we could
The Doctor might not be real, but there are so many times that I feel he has saved me. I've lost so many things: most of my beloved family members; my confidence in my health; and what remains of my faith to carry on - yet there are so many times that the thought of this noble ideal of a man has pulled me back from the edge of the abyss and convinced me to keep fighting the good fight. He might not be real, but he has done as much to inspire me as any person of flesh and blood.
Woah just noticed that line - River = What am I doing Doctor- As you're told (series 8 Do as you are told with Twelfth doctor and Clara. Ooooo!!)
"What am I doing?"
"As you're told."
First and last time for everything, I guess.
