"Time can be rewritten." "Don't you Dare" Is the same thing that she tells the doctor in the library.
+Dan Smart Yeah she got it from him at this point, and told it to him in the library. So basically she learned it from him and then he learned it from her only to tell it to her later for her to tell it to him in the library and so on and so on....

"A record? Good lord, man, have you ever heard of downloads?" - Winston Churchill
That is SUCH an underappreciated line, so fricken funny.
A typical game of civilization 4. Only with more nukes.
"said Winston Churchill" ~The Doctor, as a follow-up to the previous quote
Honestly loved that little line
I don't get it 😭

How i hate these nausea-causing levels of Plot Holes and Nonsense.
There is literally no 'normal' series of events how this Fix Point can/should happen.
There is literaly no reason why the Doctor should let him self get shoot by the Astronaut.
Also, putting much effort into creating survival-expert River Song and then putting her into an Astronaut Suit that negates all her abilitys is
laughable and nonsensical. Stupid Silence.
I like this Fix-Point Buisness, but it's virtually impossible to execute it worse than here. Wow, impressively bad writing.
The Doctor has no reason to die but he for no reason wants to die. It's nonsensical.
And the Silence is just incompetent as heck anyways. Well, everyone is.

I don't know what it is, but as soon as River says 'Hello Sweetie' after draining the suit just makes me laugh. The actor who plays her just does the personality so well.
Yeah, Alex Kingston does an incredible job

The reason the doctor had to let this happen is that his journey to that point had been already caused by that point (his death caused his companions to act in such a way that caused him to set up the setting for his death, thus avoiding his death would have created a paradox, tearing time apart, which is what happened (and to be fair the only time doctor who has had an episode dedicated to fixing a paradox))
The reason they put her in a suit is because she rebelled/failed even after all the hard work they put into her, so they had no choice but to seal her up and use her as a hostage to prevent the doctor from trying anything.
And of course, the doctor can sense fixed points in time.

+overthemoonwithme Thats actually quiet right. I would have expected these wide time vampire bird things to show up. But probably this is a much more important point in time than the death of roses Dad. Because the doctor has such an enormous influence to the universe as a whole.

My only problem with this season is how complex it got. I imagine David Tennant from Doomsday saying "what?!"

Eleven was seriously underrated. I find that when I rewatch his era, it was even more epic than I last remembered.
Underrated? Him, Tennant, and Baker are the most popular doctors lol
Underrated?
You can say that about Ecclestone while I think Eleven is very overrated.
I mean, he is not a bad doctor, really, he is very good, but after Tennant and Ecclestone...
Also what mostly saves him is the story he plays in actually, Season 5 and 6 are the best of Doctor Who.
RIP "History can't be rewritten! Not one line!"
I've been rewatching episodes and I realise that they all share little bits of dialogue. Like how this one shares, "Time can be rewritten" , "Don't you dare" with River's death.

+Jordacar In one of the episodes of the last season they even talked about it. Its probably one of the more overseen paradoxes because it dosen´t spell certain doom over people like the Grandfather paradox. I only makes your head hurt because it makes no sense.
But fixed time can't. Well, can now. Well, depends on who's point of view you're taking.
They can't be changed -- but we can be wrong about what happens in them.
I just noticed for the first time that the Doctor winked after "Goodbye, River." My headcanon now is that he tried to tell her he was going to be fine ❤

I don't like this season that much but I like this part. "You are always and completely forgiven". I like that line, it brings a tear to my eye.
For the last time it's series in classic doctor who it was season but now in modern doctor who it's called series 6

When I watch this scene I just always remember how completely clever this scene is written. Does anyone actually know that the Doctor repeats Rivers exact line when she died in Forest of the Dead? River: "Time can be rewritten" The Doctor: "Don't you dare" here, as supposed to The Doctor: "Time can be rewritten" River: "Don't you dare" in Forest of the Dead

+Danny Eerens Even more funny, but partly speculation: in Forest of the Dead, River remembered the Doctor's response back when she said it, and here, the Doctor remembered River's response back when he said it. Season 6 was my favorite one so far. How about that for an unconventional opinion?
season 4 for me i guess.. though it depends on my mood. you cannot compare 10 to 11
Hardly unconventional. Season 6 easily has the best plot twists in the entire show, and is by far the most engrossing.
+Louis-Philippe Harnois-Arel No, I agree. It'd be between Season 4 and 6 for me. I don't know. Rose coming back was pretty bloody epic.
Chris Mardiryan More like blondy epic
Chris Mardiryan The show was at its peak Seasons 4-6. Slight dip towards the end of Season 7. Season 8 was better, but not as good as 4-6. Season 9 is definitely at the same level as 6. Holy crap that was the most amazing season opening ever!
'And you are forgiven. Always and completely forgiven.'

LOL at Churchill becoming the Holy Roman Emperor in the alternate timeline. The writer must be conjuring some British nationalistic pride when writing this script.
Excellent thumbnail choice.
This story arc was the best for me - it was interesting, confusing, complicated, spaghetti, feels, timey-wimey... and in the end everything unravels with a bang!
I paused the video and needed 20 min to calm my excitement down and rearrange everything from the season in chronological order.
no one will be the Doctor like Matt Smith Doctor
Fourth
No one will be like the 11 doctor because theres only one matt smith. Tom Baker was great too but in an other way than Matt.
+''Con'': I think the OP meant future doctors...
Another question: how did River manage to not shoot the Doctor? And if she never did, how did the events of The Impossible Astronaut even happen? It's a paradox that should cancel itself out.
She drained the suit's power systems, so the shots were not powerful.
And wibbly wobbly timey wimey. Or, the fixed point not happening froze time at that point, so, from an out side perspective, there was no change. The alternate reality of time going wrong was apart form said events, until they were corrected and the timeline re-righted itself.
David Symonds How did she drain the suit? She was in it and not in control of it.

I don't understand all the people who don't like the 6th season because it's 'confusing'. Last time I checked I was not a genius and yet all the events that have occurred in the 6th season have pretty much aliened in my brain. How slow do you have to be to not understand a timeline. It's simple.
I don´t like series 6 for being confusing. but for being unnecessarily complicated. The hole plot of the season doesn´t make any sense and the "let´s kill hilter" episode is one of the worst of Doctor Who
But, the first two episodes were very very good!! And the Silent are very good and smart villans
Just remember, this is Doctor Who, not Sherlock... Its a family show, not an adult programme! You may be able to follow the story, however a young boy or girl may not follow as easily... The plot doesn't have to be over complicated and tricky for it to be a good story!
***** but again young boy and girl will have to grow up one day instead of being spoon-feed everything.
It's more than brilliant for a children's show such as Doctor who to be this involved rather than some of the utterly boring show you get in other countries
