I was on house arrest 17 years ago. Luckily for me I was able to hire the right lawyer, knew the right people and had my curfew extended till 10 pm because of my job. Not to mention I had a friend who had her friend and his same similar situation and because of that he knew how to get the ankle monitor off without setting off alarms. I still did whatever i wanted and went wherever i wanted.

My mom was working for the school, and one of the kids asked her why we call it "Hanging up the phone" when finished with the call. She had to explain it, since the kid never saw a landline phone.
My brother was on house arrest and he said many times he would of rather did the time, it was very mentally challenging being locked up in a house for a year missing out on everything, but now he is glad he stuck with it after he got off

I've been on house arrest a couple times. If you are on the up and up it's not bad at all. You go to work and have an excuse not to leave home after that. Somebody wants something, sorry I can't leave. However if you are still using drugs or drinking, even if you only get the urge to do it once - if probation shows up for a home visit you can't just hide and not answer the door or go out the back. You have a bracelet and they know you are there.
Honestly if I was rich I would just immediately sell my home and buy a giant resort with all the luxuries, a bar, a spa, a bowling alley.... Everything. Then when I'm out I'd rent it out as a house arrest option for the rich.
Yeah one of my Dad’s friends lived with us on house arrest. They make you blow into a tube and take picture of you while you do it. He actually got smart and used a vacuum cleaner and a straw to make it look like he was blowing in but not.
