What happened?
I was on house arrest 17 years ago. Luckily for me I was able to hire the right lawyer, knew the right people and had my curfew extended till 10 pm because of my job. Not to mention I had a friend who had her friend and his same similar situation and because of that he knew how to get the ankle monitor off without setting off alarms. I still did whatever i wanted and went wherever i wanted.

I'm glad you explained what a landline is. I've only seen them at schools, hospitals, police stations, bars, bowling alleys, reception desks, delis, airports, restaurants and houses.

I have a landline and i was born when cell phones and the internet was a thing so ik what they are
I teach 7th and 9th grade and had to explain it to my students. When I explained dial-up to them I don't even think they comprehended it lol.
My mom was working for the school, and one of the kids asked her why we call it "Hanging up the phone" when finished with the call. She had to explain it, since the kid never saw a landline phone.
Most homes in the area I live in use ip phones, pretty much like a cell phone call but connected to your router

I’d rather choose house arrest. Reason being is I never leave my house anyways other than to work. I always stay home and play video games and watch RUclips. If I’m not working there has been times I haven’t left the house for 2 weeks straight. So it’s not like anything would really change much for me lol 😂

Basically when I was on house arrest I didn't have to wear an anklet. It just meant that if I was caught out of my house when I'm not supposed to I'd be arrested. No questions asked.

I've been on house arrest a couple times. If you are on the up and up it's not bad at all. You go to work and have an excuse not to leave home after that. Somebody wants something, sorry I can't leave. However if you are still using drugs or drinking, even if you only get the urge to do it once - if probation shows up for a home visit you can't just hide and not answer the door or go out the back. You have a bracelet and they know you are there.
Honestly if I was rich I would just immediately sell my home and buy a giant resort with all the luxuries, a bar, a spa, a bowling alley.... Everything. Then when I'm out I'd rent it out as a house arrest option for the rich.

Yeah one of my Dad’s friends lived with us on house arrest. They make you blow into a tube and take picture of you while you do it. He actually got smart and used a vacuum cleaner and a straw to make it look like he was blowing in but not.

Some people wear two ankle bracelets--one for house arrest and another one from getting a DUI. There are ankle bracelets that can detect alcohol use, and if the sensor detects any alcohol, even from perfume or cooking, it sets off the monitor.

House arrestees often qualify for “homemaker” duties and are allowed a few hours a week to grocery shop, go to the bank, DMV ETC

I learn more from this than almost my entire life in school
I live alone and had house arrest. Also you can go out by default. But only during hours decided by the Sheriff. Usually curfew is 7 to 7 also you had a black box with a phone installed that needs constant power. It monitors if your home or not and means you can call your tracking agents, police or medical . They can also tell that your call from a black box or tag .so you get pushed to the top of the question. First offenders can easily get house arrest after a remand.

This is bs. I caught a felony gun charge (discharge in dwelling) and I was able to do 6 months house arrest. This was in California. I had to pay $600 for my device and $750 a month for the service. I also got 40 hours of community service and I had to go to some classes for a year.

Teleco installer here. When ever we did house arrest phone installs we were always told to deny the customee if they tried to get call forwarding.
In WA state they encourage people convicted of DUI to do Electronic Home Monitoring (EHM) however they the ratio is 15 days of EHM to 1 day of jail. It makes no sense to me because instead of paying (it was 160.00/ week when I dealt with it) for EHM for half a month+ as opposed to taking a short staycation in jail and getting it all out of the way up front. I know not all cases are 15:1 but I always chose jail time as opposed to any form of time that required monetary exchange. The legal system is a huge cash grab and money seems to make problems disappear but growing up it was the 1 thing I never had.

This is not very accurate. After 2 weeks in State Prison, I'm currently on house arrest two states away from the state I was arrested. I'm being charged with 16 felonies and 3 misdemeanors. Drug related, gun related, and an assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon. All alleged of course. I have a hefty bail & no ankle bracelet. Not very accurate information given here.
