BAILEY!!! Oh my gosh. GAH. My heart ripped open with you at the end 😔. I’ve been there! Behavior can be SO tough, and it’s especially discouraging when you don’t feel like you have support in those moments/hearing someone essentially talk down to you. You’re doing great and you’re there for the kids. That’s what matters. Keep shining your light! It all gets better!
I love how realistic your vlogs are!! You’re showing the good and the challenges. It’s so amazing that you’ll get to look back on these and watch your progression onto a veteran teacher. 💛
I am currently student teaching and I get so nervous and anxious depending on the day..it's really nice to know I'm not alone 💟with that being said, we can get through this!!
I'm so sorry that happened to you. You are doing an amazing job, no one knows what happens in the classroom and what works best for student behavior except you. Sometimes people are extra hard on young teachers because they think they can basically treat us like children. However, you EARNED your spot there, we are in the middle of a pandemic, you are a first-year teacher and you have SO much on your plate. You should be proud of yourself!
Hey girl! I'm a 3rd year teacher and I'm telling you my first year was so tough!! I had 26 kids and 3 with MAJOR behavior issues. I had a meeting with the mom and she blamed me and my principal also wasn't supportive. I'm in a new school now and doing so much better. I have anxiety too and I would cry EVERY DAY. It gets better, trust me! You learn from these experiences and now I have a class of angels and I'm so grateful. It will only make you stronger. You can tell from your videos you are an amazing teacher. I just noticed your story is similar to mine and I want you to know YOU CAN DO THIS!! 💕💕
i’m only in 7th grade but i feel you when it comes to your anxiety!! i’ve struggled with severe anxiety ever since i went to school for some reason and nothing seems to help. i’m now homeschooling because i decided it would be best for my anxiety and it has definitely helped! i’m sure you are an amazing teacher and remember self care is a must. some time for your self always seems to help ❤️
Don’t let the mom push all the responsibility of her child’s behavior into you!! So many comments lol but get organized make checks lists and try to spread out the tests!
Hi Bailey, I stumbled across your youtube channel a few months ago, and after listening to your experiences as a first year teacher, I understand so much of what you are going through. Obviously, everyone's experiences are different, but your anxiety, deep frustration about behavior issues, realization of time constraints, and sadness about your student's assessment performances mirror my own. After teaching on and off for 8 years now (and becoming a parent), I can promise it does get better. Obviously, each year (especially this one!) brings its own crazy challenges just due to COVID, but the struggles with first year teaching slowly get smoother with time. I vividly remember such anxiety driving to school in the mornings, hoping that my behavior management system would work for that one particular child who I couldn't seem to get through. I remember the parents' expectations for me that seemed at times unrealistic or unaware of how deeply I cared for their child. I remember the exams my students took, and looking at their grades made me so upset because it didn't reflect the hours we spent re-teaching and reviewing. Something my boyfriend (now husband) would tell me daily still sticks with me today: he said, all you can do is show up. Showing up is 90% of the work. Showing up for your kids, being as prepared as you can, being open to suggestions/advice from other teachers/admin/parents, trying your best each day, that's all you can do. And each day, you'll get better. You'll learn new strategies, develop wisdom to know what's realistic or not for each parent, and develop more engaging lessons as the year progresses. All of this will work itself out in the remaining 10% of working. But if you can just show up, you've done 90% of the work- which clearly in your videos, you are doing. You have such courage and determination to learn how to become an amazing teacher as well as earn a grad degree. Your students and parents are so blessed to have someone as dedicated, positive, and caring as you. Even when you can't please every parent (it's impossible), as long as they see you showing up to work everyday with their child's best interest at heart, they will support you. As the weeks continue, some days may seem like things aren't improving. But, as you start looking back at longer chunks of the year, you'll start to see yourself becoming more accomplished, and your kids succeeding . You CAN do this, and I can't wait to see how the rest of the year unfolds as you become the teacher you were created to be. Seriously, if you ever need someone to just listen, please reach out. Truly, I know how you are feeling and know I'm in your corner. Laura Brown
I can totally relate to how you felt after the tests. As a former teacher of many years, I can remember those defeating days of knowing that we really got through the material well and the kids were showing me progress.... and then a lot of them didn't perform on the test. I felt like I hit a brick wall. I noticed that third grade was that pivotal year when they really had to grow into themselves. The beginning of the year was not pretty for a LOT of third graders (Even the ones who made A's and B's in second grade), but hang in there because they will start to show amazing growth as the year goes on.... There is such a jump between second and third grade. So all this to be said, hang in there because by the end of the year you will look back and think wow! Look how far they've come!
You are doing such a good job. Positive vibes being sent your way. I love your videos. I am a business student at Auburn, but I am OBSESSED with your teaching videos!
Parents love to blame the teacher for their children's behaviour instead of addressing it. If you have to be mean in order for a student to listen, the problem lies with the student not with you. It's possible to be kind and sweet and still firm/strict, so don't feel guilty for being nice.
Oh Bailey, you are my #1 teacher vlog. You work so hard on all the very many things you are doing, and give it your very best! You are sooo very impressive! I believe it’s that very caring sweet nature which is so special about you, is what ends up bringing you sadness (or anxiety). You don’t want to disappoint. I really have no advice except - please try to not beat yourself up. I don’t know another person your age doing as much as you’re doing and doing it as impressively. You can never please everyone! You’ve been at this such a short time and I’m sure you’re learning something every day. Your students and school are blessed to have you. Please take time to do loving, caring & nurturing things for you as often as you can.
It takes time to figure out what your anxiety triggers are. Once you can, it's slightly easier to avoid them and create routines (and exit plans) for when you panic. For me, I have to have routines for students to do something independently because I've had anxiety attacks in class, and when that happens, i just need them to go do something where I'm not the center of attention. my mentor teacher when i was student teaching had the same issue, and she taught that to me. because you can't leave the room, you're stuck so there needs to be something in place. In life, like not teaching, There are just things that I do to calm me down. Sometimes I just need a break.
Thank you! One of the other teachers in my grade told me the same thing! I’m thankful for kiddos that are pretty independent and I have the ability to do that!
Hi Bailey! I’m actually glad to see you sharing your work anxiety and school struggles. It makes me feel like I’m not the only one especially after a crappy day. I have found talking about it really helps (whether to yourself, RUclips or someone else!). I hope things gets better as the year goes on. As a second year teacher, let me just say it gets better with time! Keep up the good work, we’ll be down here in the comments rooting for you :)
You make my heart happy when you upload! 😊 I’m always super exited to see your vlogs! I just wanted to say thank you! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to vlog, even on your worst days! It really shows that being a teacher isn’t all rainbows and sunshine, you truly inspire me to become a great teacher someday! So thank you girl!🧡
I've been teaching 28 years and my anxiety is crazy right now. First year teaching is really hard when it's not Covid. They don't teach us nearly enough about classroom management in college. It really comes with time. Hang in there!
Not sure how I ended up here but highly enjoyed your vlog! It shows it’s not just a job for you. Thank you for caring for the kiddos. Teachers like you are such a huge blessing! Keep up the good work 👩🏫
Everything about your classroom is goals! Everything is so well thought out! My classroom is getting there, in times of covid its defiantly a struggle to work on decor when there is so many regulations!!! I cant wait to finish filming my classroom set up videos when my district allows!
I recently started getting really bad anxiety at the beginning of my senior year and I just started college and honestly I feel like I could definitely give some helpful advice. When you’re starting to feel the anxiety hitting I would definitely recommend doing something to ground you weather it’s biting into a lemon or putting your head in the fridge😂😂 Ik it sounds weird but it really helps. Water is definitely a huge aspect of helping your anxiety so that’s good you’re doing that. Oil diffusers also help a lot and if you’re not allowed to put that in your class definitely think about putting one in your house. Whenever i start to feel myself getting really anxious I take a shower or do something to distract myself if I’m not at a place where I can shower. I feel like coffee is definitely one of my biggest triggers and a lot of people have told me to get decaf which is a good idea I just don’t have that accessible in my house and I don’t really get it at Starbucks or Dunkin so I haven’t tried. One thing I noticed that helps is if I eat something that’s not sugary for breakfast before or after my coffee I won’t get anxious. I haven’t tried this but you could get one of those fidget toys to distract you while you feel your anxiety getting bad. There’s definitely a lot more things I do but this is all I can think of right now. Don’t stress yourself out too bad I’m new to this also and I was lucky enough to have other friends with bad anxiety to help me through it so I’m here for you:) remember you’re allowed to give yourself a break it’s important that you’re not constantly stressing yourself out. I hope this helpef
I’m glad I found your channel. It is very Inspirational ✨, especially for me who is looking into grad school for education!! Love the videos keep up the good work☺️
I’m feeling the same about students not doing so well with testing this year. Good thing is, everyone is feeling it so you’re not alone! As for behavior, consistency is so good for them. Most times, they don’t have consistency at home and kids need it. What you’ve mentioned that you’ve tried with him are great ideas! It takes a while to see progress, but stay with it. Giving him a job and having talks with him are wonderful ideas! You might not see it, but I bet he loves and respects you. Those harder to reach kids don’t like showing their feelings, but they sometimes slip and show you they actually do care. Lol Keep loving on him and don’t give up!! You have this veteran teacher behind you sending positive thoughts and prayers your way! You’ve got this girl!! ❤️

Hi Bailey! I am starting a RUclips channel, and I was just wanting to know what editing thing you use for your videos? I am want to be a teacher when I get older and your videos are making me want to become one more and more!! Keep up the good, and remember that mental health is important. Take time for your self each night!! I love your kindness!! -Birdie Hall
It will take you awhile not to take things that parents say to heart too much. I’m sorry you felt that way after the meeting. We always want to place blame on someone else for our own child’s behavior.
I work with kids with behaviors an I definitely understand how frustrating it is love ur trick on essential oils in a mask never thought about it but great idea
I really love your vlogs. I have the same problems, so makes me feel not alone. Its sad give all of you teaching and feel less when they dont undrestand or the parents judge you. You are not alone. We are here for you. You are a great teacher. Hugs from Guatemala.
Have you ever considered recording your spelling tests and then uploading them to Google Classroom for kids to listen to? It makes my life SO much easier because my 3rd graders can pause or rewind if they need more time to hear a word/hear me repeat a word. Self-paced spelling tests are the best because you don't have to repeat yourself. I just record myself writing the number on a whiteboard to indicate the number we are on.
Omg. I can't count the times I have forgot utensils to eat lunch at school. Ur so lucky that your school has silver ware provided at school. Also, were not allowed to throw our garbage in the schools trash. Can u believe that!?!?
I’m also in an alternative education program that’s in combination with a Masters in Education! Out of curiosity, what was your undergraduate degree in? You said it wasn’t in education? Love your videos!
Girl it’s always the teachers fault and never the parents don’t be hard on yourself your doing a great job continue doing a great job. Don’t change for no one and let everyone’s comments be like water off of a ducks back.
I really want to get on meds for my anxiety, but I have anxiety about being seen for my anxiety, and I have no idea what dr to go to! Like do I go to a primary care? Or a specialist? I have no clue!! Any tips??
I would be sure to tell that student (the one who can draw when he finishes his work) that he has to do all of his work AND do it well. I have a similar student, and he will sometimes rush through his work so that he can get to that reward. Just something to think about.
What part of the panhandle do you live in? I live in a small town called altha about 14 miles from marrianna and we didnt get that bad stuff from sally
I'm watching this video and I feel so bad for you. I don't eve know what to suggest. Im only half way through the video. I just hope you are feeling better now as this was a few months ago. Maybe don't be so hard on yourself and make sure you are looking after yourself.
Hey Bailey I pray that God will help you with your anxiety. 1 peter 5:7, cast all your anxieties on Him for He cares for you. give it all to God. i love you!
Hey Girl!!!! I LOVE your videos!! I wanted to recommend mud wtr (mudwtr.com/?rfsn=3951965.932413) as an alternative to coffee! I haven't tried it myself but its a natural form of energy and it lowers anxiety as well! Again I love your videos so so much and it's honestly the best part of my week/day to watch them. I want to be an elementary education major and I'm looking forward to seeing how everything works out!

I love you so much! I really wish you were my teacher!❤️
Family and child sciences! ☺️

Any tips??
Hey Bailey! Love your videos!! I’m curious. What is your degree in?
Family and child sciences!
I love the glasses ❤.
I would be sure to tell that student (the one who can draw when he finishes his work) that he has to do all of his work AND do it well. I have a similar student, and he will sometimes rush through his work so that he can get to that reward. Just something to think about.
Just subbed 💁🏽♀️💁🏽♀️ love your vibe !

Seems like that parent thinks that being mean is the only way to teach/ raise a child. Not your fault!! You are doing the best you can!
I'm watching this video and I feel so bad for you. I don't eve know what to suggest. Im only half way through the video. I just hope you are feeling better now as this was a few months ago. Maybe don't be so hard on yourself and make sure you are looking after yourself.
Your cardigan is so cute, where did you get it?!
What series of Apple Watch you have?
I am not a teacher but it sounds like that was a lot of testing for third graders, maybe they needed a brain break- to help you and them!
Like you new video today and you look really beautiful and cute today
What's a caboose?
