LOOOOOOVE the measuring of the boot. Dimensions of boot and vehicle matter greatly to family buyers. That should be a standard review feature but no channel/site I've found does this as standard. Also would be even better to also check under the (often) fake boot floor and measure the loading height in the boot since manufacturers tend to measure only about seat height for stating their volume in L; and does the car have a frunk? Thanks for adding these more often in future!
I seem to recall Carwow used to (and might still) do boot size checks by how many medium suitcases you could load in. For my measure, if it can take our massive double buggy flat, then it's plenty big.
Good points. I also hate the false floor as “cable storage.” Impossible to get to when you have stuff in the boot. A frunk big enough to put the cable would be very welcome in cars.
Ive always found volume to be a complete nonsense metric. The only reason they use it is because it gives them one number to "compare" others to and decide who "wins". Its silliness compounded on top of useless information.

Don’t think so. The car is ugly, boring and the name a catastrophe. Dear Honda, your heritage of the better days were called ‚Accord‘ or ‚Civic‘ and people loved reliability. You definitely do not understand electric. No model is really what the market expects from a good EV. Prefer an MG or BYD for a young family 😂
Good job, Imogen. My Model 3 is 3 years old and I still get a little frustrated at the screen. If your finger found a real button, you'd know when it was pressed but its easy (for whatever reason) not to make things work when you really need to keep your eyes on the road. Not sure if the Honda might end up the same. The Model 3 comes with a lot of piano black surfaces which are easy to get finger prints and scratches on. Makes it look very "second hand" easily. The solution was to buy a custom stick on wood effect (other effects were available) cover for the big areas of piano black. Surfaces are protected. Maybe they will come up with the same for the Honda. Not sure about the front charge port. I can see there could be issues with that depending on where you are charging. (its less safe to reverse out of parking bays for example). Overall I'd say this was a better effort from Honda.
Great video! I would say the "hybrid versions" have been for sale for a few years now, it's the HR-V. Basically the same car but with a hybrid/ICE drivetrain, always thought it looks pretty cool so it's good to see an EV version and one with a decent range too after the somewhat limited E.
Great review Imogen. It's a Honda, it's going to be beautifully built and will last forever. But it's a bit bland looking, and while I appreciate a non-grey colour scheme, I'm not keen on the insipid pale blue/green. Depending on the cost, could be a real winner for Honda. Hope it does well :-)

I live in the US and I've had a Honda all my life (M31). I've always wanted an electric car and am looking to pull the trigger soon; however, it will pull me from the Honda brand that I loved since I was a kid. This looks amazing and just what I need. Please bring this to the US soon!!!!
Echoing other comments. Car: not competitive enough. Presenter: top class. Nice change in style and format. Liked the measurements, liked all the figures on one screen, and liked the overall approach.
I recently had the pleasure of driving an electric car, and I must say it exceeded all my expectations. The smooth acceleration, whisper-quiet engine, and zero emissions made for a truly delightful ride. Not to mention the convenience of never having to visit a gas station again. Highly recommended!
Man, Europe has so many awesome EVs available! The options in the US are so limited, especially since I don't want a massive, absurdly heavy luxury car.
It would be amazing to have Imogen test cars for shorter people. Battery Life sometimes gets his wife to test cars and Cindy offers a nice perspective on if it suits someone who would normally have to sit on a cushion. Speaking as someone with a 5’ tall wife.
Shock horror it has a rear wiper!!! Good looking car & a good review but once again, like all EV's, it's going to be too expensive. BYD Atto3 is under £40k & that's too much for a car that sells for £10k less in Australia. Can't help feeling us Brits are getting ripped off big time. Missing the fish tank though 🐟
It's why they refer to the UK as the "Treasure Island". 🙂 Does seem we're being ripped off (even the Chinese cars seem very expensive) sadly only way to get the prices cheaper is for everyone to not buy them. Guess it's pretty complicated
@@mrpugster Agreed. Problem is that the vast majority of EV drivers in the UK don't own their cars. They drive company lease cars or they are private PCP / HP. Anyone looking to actually spend their own cash & trade in an existing car is priced out of the market, at least for a new car. Which is why our first EV will be a used model later this year.
I own a Used 2015 Nissan Leaf Tekna that it’s just a couple of hundred miles off 60k miles. I live on the Isle Of Man and won’t take it off the island so even in the smallest battery it has enough range even in winter for my daily drive. It’s fully owned by myself with no finance etc on it .
Oh boy - this is the best presenter yet - well done. (her name is Imogen?) . I really like how she entered the car with her stuff in hand. And her view points are ... well .... very good.
Imogen says she grew up with a Honda Jazz. Great. Kids now grow up with a big SUV taking them to school, when a small hatchback would do the job much better. (Or maybe a bike or walking would do even better).
what, the early 2000's Jazzs were tiny, only 150 inches long. And children only a few years earlier were transported in massive station wagons 230in long making 15mpg highway.
@@jordan177606 Well, growing up in the 90s, there were lots of families in the UK and Europe going on vacation (I assume you’re American) in small cars. They did the job. Now, we’ve convinced ourselves that we need big SUVs to do the same job, which we don’t. It makes way more sense to have a small car that can be easy to park in daily driving, and then have the ability to go on long trips, than having a bigger car that is impractical in daily life in tight urban streets.
@@christill growing up in the 70s/80s, my parents would have laughed if I'd asked them to taxi me to school. Half the traffic on the road in the morning is comprised of parents ferrying their kids to school.
@@kesgreen4639 Yep. And it’s far more stupid in the UK than bigger countries. Almost everyone lives easy walking or cycling distance from school. And we still jam up the roads with cars.
Nice review of Honda's new EV. Looks similar to a lot of other SUV EV's on the market, but Honda do make reliable & well put together cars! Just one observation on the interior - what is it with manufactures using BLACK headlining these days, with alot more black on the dash/doors, it makes the interior very dark & a sombre place to be! Why the change after many, many years of them using "light" headlinnings?
Shame they couldn’t make an electric with the versatility and size of their Jazz and at sub £30k pricepoint - even with sub 200mile range Afraid the Chinese newcomers are going to wipe the floor with them ( and many others )
I'm 6'6 ... having Jack review cars is the closest I've ever been to being able to trust a review to see if I'd fit in the car, which is my biggest limiting factor.
lol, absolutely ... I'm 6'6 and 280lbs ... it's a genuine problem in lots of ways, being able to physically fit behind the wheel of a car in something even vaguely resembling comfort is just one of them.
It looks like every other SUV out there, so they'd better get the price right or have it labelled another Compliance car. Well done Imogen for trying to inject some hyperbole, and well done Jack for injecting a "close" to remember.
Excellent review! The car's pretty inoffensive, dare I say a little bland? That infotainment system is an interesting way of doing things though - quite impressed with it.
I love the UI everything on one screen displayed like that will make it super easy to manage without being distracted I think I love it Hondas software team really thought about that. Excellent job
Interesting efficiency - if I didn't miscalculate that's about 15 kwh per 100 km using the usable battery and the official range. That's pretty good. Kinda irked that efficiency is missing in the data sheet tbh, to me that's one of the most important selling points for an electric vehicle. Otherwise Meh, another SUV. I'll get interested if they bring out an electric Civic or Jazz. Or they electrify the Rebel Bike but maybe that's just me :p
Honda E gets it's range estimates the same way, 200kms range = 1 - > 30kwh battery at 15kwh per 100kms... Real figures go to 18kwh per 100kms and winter to 21- 22kwh.
Absolutely. Efficiency is key, for running costs reasons but also from an environmental point of view. With the 257 miles range presented, its efficiency is 14.96 kWh/100km or 4.15 miles/kWh. But as I mentioned in another message here, you can see at 07:58 that the actual range is 247 miles (extrapolation to 100% of battery). So the efficiency is probably closer to 4 miles/kWh or 15.6kWh/100km, which is still very good for an EV with such a big battery and particularly if you consider the efficiency of similar EV models.
@@Nikoo033 now remove from that range 20% for the bottom and 15 for the top end of the battery charging and you'll get you real average usable range. Or you can lower the bottom to 10% for those difficult journeys.
This car was introduced in China in 2021. It is a battery electric version of the third-generation Honda HR-V. It sells there as the Honda e:NS1 and e:NP1, which are manufactured by Dongfeng Honda and Guangqi Honda respectively. I guess it will just get a different badge for Y-urope. Rest of world only get ICE or Hybrids HR-V atm. The top spec model in China sells for 218,000 yuan which is 25,000 Pounds. There are 3 other cheaper versions. (Cheapest 20K GBP). So if you want to wait to 2024 you can get a 3 year old car for twice the price it sells for in its country of manufacture.
At last an effort from Honda that has usable range. Not convinced that £45,000 is a good starting price. Skoda Enyaq is better value and the VRS version is only just over £50k. Also the Tesla Model Y will out perform this in every single aspect. Still..... Well done Honda as it is miles better than Toyota's inefficient expensive disaster!
OEMs will put themselves out of business trying to compete with Tesla. Hyundai/Kia and VW look look more like the competitors they are gunning for to me.
This effort is better than nothing - which is what Honda offers in North America. Rumour has it that sales for Honda Canada are down 50% from 2002 - which was a rotten year for Honda sales too.
That was a fun watch indeed, as usual Imogen knocks the ball out of the park with her unique presenting style ... a few surprises though: - What, no mention of frunk/froot? Is this like a BMW? - Loved the gag at the end but shouldn't there be a way to open the boot from inside the car? Regarding naming, there must be a competition running among manufacturers (started by Audi a few years back) to make model numbers as difficult as possible. Especially with forced matches like "N for New" when was the last time a car was named "O for Old?" (Oldsmobile doesn't count)
All EVs? If we want to live in more sustainable cities we need to focus on public transport & alternative mobility (as per the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development - SDG 11, awa the New Urban Agenda). This will require a complete restructuring of transport infrastructure to accomodate pedestrians, e-scooters, bikes (cargo bikes, city bikes etc) microcars, public transport in all forms, and lastly EVs. The show has showcased alternative forms of mobility - it would be great to see more of these episodes. Also, some cities have bike buses (enabling kids to ride to school safely) and car free Sundays etc so residents can access street infrastructure minus cars - please highlight such activities too. Some cities & towns even paint their streets to make them more fun (especially developing countries where budgets are tight). Cities need to be child friendly, gender sensitive & accomodate vulnerable communities (mature persons, dosabled etc), not just wealthy men strutting their status in fancy cars going to & from work etc. Cities include rich & poor, young & old, genders of all kinds - our transport system needs to accomodate everyone, not just the privileged few.
@@toby9999 i never said we don't need cars, but not as the priority. Cars will always be a part of city life, but city life should not be dominated by them.
@@wschnitzler Actually many cities are doing just that - giving other mobility options access to road networks so that ALL residents (young, old, rich, poor, people, bikes, vehicles of all kinds from small to large). Not having a car shouldn't mean not being able to get around your city (to get to employment, healthcare, education, recreation, visit family or friends, run errands etc). Cities are for people. People should have access to forms of mobility that suits their budget & needs. City planners need to think beyond just cars when planning (or upgrading) mobility infrastructure. It's better for our physical & mental well-being, as well as the planet.

The side reminds me of my old yellow Honda CVCC. I like 😍 this too. I like her take on it too. Production is really great too on this video. Props to the set design ...like using the floor as a contrast
My revivifiers loved their CVCC, in (The Good Ole) days when Honda was still innovating.
I live in the US and I've had a Honda all my life (M31). I've always wanted an electric car and am looking to pull the trigger soon; however, it will pull me from the Honda brand that I loved since I was a kid. This looks amazing and just what I need. Please bring this to the US soon!!!!
Jack and Imogen should review cars meant for young families together to showcase the range of what, who fits best where.
Echoing other comments. Car: not competitive enough. Presenter: top class. Nice change in style and format. Liked the measurements, liked all the figures on one screen, and liked the overall approach.

Fully Charged: here's another expensive crossover suv
I recently had the pleasure of driving an electric car, and I must say it exceeded all my expectations. The smooth acceleration, whisper-quiet engine, and zero emissions made for a truly delightful ride. Not to mention the convenience of never having to visit a gas station again. Highly recommended!
Man, Europe has so many awesome EVs available! The options in the US are so limited, especially since I don't want a massive, absurdly heavy luxury car.
Nice. I love it! Normal doors, steering wheel, gauge cluster, and the presence of BUTTONS! Now it needs to come to the USA!
2024 Honda Pologue
Great video Imogen - I think "e:NY1" is meant to be pronounced as "Anyone!"
Does "Anyone" want this half-baked EV? nOh1
Imogen is fantastic.
let me guess - no or not much storage under the rear boot and no front storage.... Really great to have Imogen do a review.
That boot cover system is pure genius. I wonder why this is the first time i see something like this.
Another SUV. Smacks head.
It's like the things are popular or something 🤷🏿♂️
You don't have to buy one.
And a crappy looking one at that.
Great video production on this one 😊
Thanks Rog!
Looks good, really good. If only the price is competitive.
Loved the new host!
It would be amazing to have Imogen test cars for shorter people. Battery Life sometimes gets his wife to test cars and Cindy offers a nice perspective on if it suits someone who would normally have to sit on a cushion. Speaking as someone with a 5’ tall wife.
I agree, my Partner is just under 5ft
The electric Jazz is one I'd love. With the space under the back seats!
Exactly! We need an electric Jazz!
True.. MG 4 seems better value electric car overall
EVs are also a rip-off in Australia. The cheapest EV I've seen here is around $45000.
Is it a BYD underneath the Honda badge?
Oh boy - this is the best presenter yet - well done. (her name is Imogen?)
.
(......Shuffles off to find old monty python sketch)
Shame they couldn’t make an electric with the versatility and size of their Jazz and at sub £30k pricepoint - even with sub 200mile range
Afraid the Chinese newcomers are going to wipe the floor with them ( and many others )
Dear Fully Charged, there's more demograhics out there than just a young family....
Honda's new EV-model called "2 little 2 late"
Honda bankrupt before year 2028
Great review Imogen 👍 I like it well done Honda.
I'm 6'6 ... having Jack review cars is the closest I've ever been to being able to trust a review to see if I'd fit in the car, which is my biggest limiting factor.
Exactly!
So that is why they call you Big Logan.
lol, absolutely ...
Shhhh! This was meant to be when Jack was "away"! 😉
Same. An electric civic or jazz or any other smallish model would be perfect. I don't like SUVs anyway.
No ev has ever hit the claimed rage. it's usually 20 to 40% less. Go get a self charging hybrid
Nice ending 😀
At last an effort from Honda that has usable range. Not convinced that £45,000 is a good starting price. Skoda Enyaq is better value and the VRS version is only just over £50k. Also the Tesla Model Y will out perform this in every single aspect. Still..... Well done Honda as it is miles better than Toyota's inefficient expensive disaster!
OEMs will put themselves out of business trying to compete with Tesla. Hyundai/Kia and VW look look more like the competitors they are gunning for to me.
45 THOUSAND pounds? Ho-Lee Frunk!
More car review vids from Imogen, please. Teddy should join the presenter cohort too.
Good review. The car has no better range and charging speed than a 2018 th eNiro.
Honda must try harder on efficency.
This effort is better than nothing - which is what Honda offers in North America. Rumour has it that sales for Honda Canada are down 50% from 2002 - which was a rotten year for Honda sales too.
That was a fun watch indeed, as usual Imogen knocks the ball out of the park with her unique presenting style ... a few surprises though:
- What, no mention of frunk/froot?
Yes, you do that
Creating an efficient and convenient public transport is an impossibility in many cities. We'll always need cars.
The gender thing is superfluous unless you plan to interact sexually with infrastructure
I hope they let Imogen out of the trunk to make more presentations!
