I can already see fun depth in the game in that they don't tell you explicitly how the practice shots interact with the idols. That's the type of thing that feels like it'll make you a master by learning on your own. So cool!
This game is so cute! One Shot Wednesdays have introduced me to so many great and interesting indie games I might never have encountered otherwise. Thanks Dan. As for the accent, being a Scot myself I fer one would simply love tae here Dan attempt my mother tongue, och aye! (And fear not, the Scottish accent is already a parody of itself, even we send ourselves up, aberdonians especially so)
I've never heard of this game and I normally wouldn't have watched this video, but RUclips was on autoplay while I was doing chores at home. ... Wow, this music SLAPS! And the game looks like tons of fun! Thank you PlayFrame for doing a video on this game! Sometimes it turns out very well to just let RUclips play in the background. This is not the first awesome game I've discovered this way :D Edit: This soundtrack rocks so hard that I went to Bandcamp to buy it, so I can listen to it in loseless quality. The last time this happened was with the soundtrack of River City Girls, which I highly recommend to everyone who likes this style of music.
The existence of golf god and golf purgatory raises many metaphysical questions. Are there other sports gods? Where do non-athletes go? Is there a golf heaven, accessible only by the GOAT? Or perhaps Golf God is the one true god, and all non-golfers simply go directly to golf hell for defying his one commandment, Go Forth And Golf? Where does What The Golf fit in? Mysteries for the ages.
Maybe golf God is the only god, but what the golf demonstrates that all human behavior, natural phenomena, computing, etc are just very strange golf variants. There are no non-golfers because there is no non-golf.
Oh, how interesting! The cuts during the tutorial reposition your ball to put it in the optimal spot for making it to the next segment without hitting a trap
Playing golf with a side-scrolling view reminds me of a level in Tiny Toon Adventures for SNES, where you randomly play American football in side-scrolling view. Also similar in that you have a limited number of attempts to make enough progress to gain more attempts. Believe it or not, playing that level is how I learned the rules of American football.
If I had a penny for each rougelite golf game I'd seen, I'd have two pennies. It's not a lot, but it feels strange that there are two. (Other one is called Golfie)
"may golf god bless you" is an odd thing to say to someone who ended up in golf purgatory after getting smote by golf god (at least, I assume that's who zapped you. might have been zeus or thor, but I'm going to say it was golf god)
@@timothymclean I've never played VS, but in Holocure I have Fubuki, Ame, and Gura at gachikoi rank. Almost got Korone, too but the pre-final-boss danger puddle-line-pinwheel-thing got me. Here's my understanding of "Roguelite criteria": Procedurally-generated levels (HC doesn't have) Progression outside a given run (HC has) Random options on level up (HC has) Death ends a run (HC has) So, as far as I'm concerned, VS-likes are Roguelites.

I believe the 60 seconds is the 60 seconds curse not being cursed in 60 seconds lol What a fun game it's really stretching a roguelike run if you're supposed to go for multiple hours in one sitting
I am not one for rogue likes, but the mechanica here look like a lot of fun. A party game like this, where instead of trying to survive you can mess with each other, that sounds like a lot of fun.
Would love to see what the between-run part of the game was. Are you able to power up with your money between runs? Unlock new ace cards? Or is it more a slay-the-spire type rogue-lite where there is no between-run progression?
There isn’t any meta currency to spend, but you do get a new ability the first time you fail and each time you beat a boss for the first time, like what happened after Dan beat The Scotsman (or at least I think it’s only the first time, I beat the whole game on the run where I beat the first boss the first time so I only went up against each of them once)
@@goombaspike4903 Only Super Mario is part of the Christmas play-through. The Paper Mario one is an extra Let's Play chosen by the Patrons, it's a lucky coincidence that both playthroughs are Mario games.
a) very fun looking game and fun showcase of it b) it looks like dan is always picking the first card from a selection while talking like he got the whole list, oops (it's poking my ocd, lol)
0:48 that smooth change to the golf announcer voice is incredible!
I've never watched golf, so I dodn't know what to expect with the announcer... and I felt the change in my bones.
Dan doing the announcer voice is the best thing I've heard today

There is a golf heaven, that much at least is confirmed
This is amazing, I’m so tempted to ask for a full playthrough. Next time, patreon pollers…
"That's going to cost us" that's deep into the rough. And a really excellent intro to future levels I think too! So cute
The style reminds me a lot of those old Nitrome games! It's very lovely
Oh, how interesting! The cuts during the tutorial reposition your ball to put it in the optimal spot for making it to the next segment without hitting a trap
This is great! Just been playing Golf Story, which I love, so this is an extra treat!

Isn't there a third one that the farlands or bust guy played too, 4,000 holes of rougelike golf?

I kinda love that Dan's Scotsman is a ringer for late BBC presenter Terry Wogan. Irish instead of Scottish, but I love it nonetheless 😀
The cart animation reminds me of arcade cabinets or MegaMan X enemies, very well done.
49:40 HoloCure.
Are Vampire-Survivor-likes really roguelites? And have you ever played stage 2 hard mode?

ASCEND! ASCEND ASCEND WITH GOLF!
The Scotsman sure has a... Heart of golf.
Less than a minute in and I love this game already!!!
The Scotsmen's theme reminds me of a sped up chiptune version of Aviators Traveler's Song
Your golf announcer voice was perfect!
37:26 wouldn't it make more sense to save the extra shots cards until you are down to 1? make sure you're not wasting them?
Fire? I feel you may be off by one letter there..
This game is definitely not my speed, but I love the music so hard
Aw, I understand where you're coming from, but I definitely wanted to hear your best Scotsman!
I am not one for rogue likes, but the mechanica here look like a lot of fun. A party game like this, where instead of trying to survive you can mess with each other, that sounds like a lot of fun.
We will need more of this.
The Scotsman's sense of humor makes me want to nibble on sharks.
Nicely played. Just wait until you play on the REMIX course!
The announcer voice is perfect. That's how they sound no matter what.

Looks like we have a Ducktales and Doctor Who marathon in the future.
10:18 Cursed To Golf - The Scottish Cut!
Damn, the music is such a banger
Please please please do a live stream of accent practice. It would be so fun to join
There's something VERY Shovel Knight about some parts of this music...
The time stop has a JoJo reference.

a) very fun looking game and fun showcase of it
b) it looks like dan is always picking the first card from a selection while talking like he got the whole list, oops (it's poking my ocd, lol)
I don't believe this is the case. The game lets you highlight cards, but you get all the cards in a pack.
Golf God is the one true God
I like the Jojo posing going on at the end.
18:42 JoJo reference. Sold.
So there's no putter?
51:55 who else checked the remaining time on the video to get a taste of how wrong Dan was?
