My grandparents moved to Mountain Home back in mid 1952. I was 11 years old when we as a family of 7 made that trip in a classic old car, a 2x4 stretched across the back seat so the five of us kids could see outside. My oh my what memories come to mind.👍❤️
Wish you had had a chance to see the Crescent Hotel and where the Passion Play is held. First went to Eureka Springs in the 70s and it still has the same charm today in the downtown area.
Cotter Arkansas, trout capital of the World..Beautiful stop. Big Springs Park..fresh water springs a Beautiful bridge R.M Ruthven Bridge that crosses the White River from Cotter to Flippin..my families neck of the woods, flippin is the home of Ranger Boats
I've been living here in Eureka Springs for the better part of 40 years. I really got a kick out of your navigating the narrow streets here Russ, lol. Great stuff. Riding the Trolleys is my favorite means of transportation here. Parking is scarce. Loved your walk up behind downtown Basic Park. If I had my druthers, I'd rather be living in an RV somewhere around Quartzsite AZ, but I definitely can't complain about living here. Excellent video, best I've ever seen of Eureka Springs, by far. 👍
Thanks Russ! My wife's Grandparents were born in Eureka Springs around 1890 and lived there until they married and moved to Western Oklahoma for his work in the oil fields. We have visited there on a few occasions. Stay safe and enjoy your trips!
If you ever return to Eureka Springs, try to visit the (supposedly haunted) historical Crescent Hotel & see the Christ of the Ozarks statue. The residential streets are packed with 100-year-old elegant "Painted Lady" Victorian homes.
The place does not feel right at all. Been there several times. When they found jars with human remains in them buried on the grounds at the Crescent Hotel, you know something is not right about the place. Not to mention it being used a place to cure cancer but no one was ever cured. People suffered, died and were being used as test subjects by a psycho doctor and his staff. All truth.
It is not supposedly haunted it is absolutely haunted. Fact. My mother helped reopen the crescent hotel in 1972 when I was 12. I saw the nurse downstairs and no one believed me for 10 years. Now they’re all about it with their ghost tours. $$$$$$$$
Hey Russ, got some AR info for you about this trip. Piggott, AR was the home of Ernest Hemingway & his 2nd wife, Pauline. Ernest wrote a part of "Farewell to Arms" while living there. There is the Hemingway-Pfeiffer House museum in Piggott. Also, in Eureka Springs, you missed going to the "haunted" Crescent Hotel. My wife & I went to Eureka Springs every Thanksgiving weekend for several years with our close friends. The funnel cake store you pointed out was our favorite place to rest & have a tasty funnel cake. This trip brought back memories of our time in AR. We retired 8 years ago & transplanted to Spokane, WA to be near our daughter & family. Thanks for sharing this trip!
I'm so glad you traveled thru my home state. You missed alot of Eureka Springs by not staying on 62 business and went up to the The big historic Hotel at the top. Please come back and stay longer and explore more of the town. Also drive across our Version of the Golden Gate Bridge at the little town of Beaver really close to Eureka. My home town is Huntsville about 45 minutes south of Eureka Springs. Northwest Ark is truly God's Country!
The Crescent Hotel is awesome and there's a Catholic Church where you enter at the top of the steeple and walk down several stories to the ground floor with a beautiful gift shop in the church. You really missed out on several sites..maybe another time. Enjoy your videos! 💗
If you had went to the right of the building instead of the left in town, there is a paying parking lot. I am from Arkansas. You consider to travel highway 7 from Harrison to Hot Springs, if you have not done it yet. That is a nice ride. Maybe, also, slide over to Petit Jean State Park. We enjoy your videos! Thank you for sharing your adventures! Safe Travels!
Eureka Springs is one of my favorite places in the Ozarks. You saw about half of the town. When you decided to make a loop, you could have continued going up to the top of the hill to the Crescent Hotel. The whole town is gorgeous. It is best to park and take the trolly all around town. Best way to see everything. Love your videos!
Hey, RVerTV, we just discovered your channel and really enjoy riding along with you. Most recently we have been inspired to visit Eureka Springs, so thank for that one. Last year we visited Iceland and rented a camper van to travel around the country in. We were curious about your van and if you have a kitchen or toilet…. Thank you!
Pocahontas native, born and raised here, moved away in the military and had to come back after being outta state for over a decade. Glad to see I'm not the only person who appreciates the laid back, take care of your neighbors kind of community we have here.
Enjoyed your video, especially Eureka Springs. My wife & I were married there back in ‘91. We had a vacation home in Holiday Island & have many great memories. Next time you’re in that area, take 187 from 62 over to 23 & travel across the Beaver suspension bridge. It’s a great drive!
Some of this reminds me of when I was a little girl and my daddy;s best friend had a house boat on a lake in SC. I remember spending weekends there...me, my Ma and Pa, and Lane and Betty, my Godparents...I slept on a pull out sofa, and I remember the gentle rocking ofthe houseboat ...there was a window next to my sofa where I could see the stars...to this day, as a 59 year old woman, my dream is to experience that again...doesn't have to be a houseboat...but just camping😍
The hot springs, in Eureka Springs and the Ozark Mountains are Beautiful, so many quaint college towns. RIVERS, White river, the Ozark mountains. Read up on the rich and famous going to Arkansas to soak in the hot springs.. its just lovely there.
RUclips suggested ur video, and let me tell u, I grew up on these roads learning to drive on them. My grandmother lived in Agnos AR, which is 4 miles west of Ash Flat on 62/412.. this brought back memories and tears for me as I cherish those memories. Thank you for showing the beauties of Arkansas , unlike so many that nit pic an try to find any place that is run down just to trash talk this wonderful state
What a beautiful place Arkansas and Eureka Springs is! The same kind of crazy development took place at spa towns / health resorts in the UK and Europe back in the day, they built everything so tight together and never would have imagined the kind of traffic we have today.
Thanks for sharing! Eureka Springs was the best! I would love to drive all through that downtown area at night! I imagine the lighting is great there after dark! Let the journey continue!
I'm seriously looking to move out of Florida to Arkansas. Your videos are making me go now! Years ago was visiting there and fell in love. Beautiful yet still rugged. Thank you😊
The Crescent Hotel is the best! Hopefully you made it west of town to the KOA Kampground. Just beyond that is a wonderful walking nature trail and waterfall at Blue Spring on Hwy 62.
Buffalo River is the best water in Arkansas. There is a steep old mine road they preserved in the State Park. In eureka springs we used to stay at the Old Schoolhouse, and it was large and airy and the magical but it got struck by lightning back in the 90s I think it was and burned down.
@@rbjones72703 it's been decades since we drove up there and we asked the residence at the little house up there on the hill about it. My family loved that place.

Just found your channel a few days ago when your travel show about Arkansas popped up on RUclips feeds. I grew up in Southwest AR but my husband and I, along with our two children, lived near Pocahontas for 5 yrs in the early 90’s. We saw all the sites up that way. Eureka Springs and Hot Spring are popular places for Arkansans to visit. Eureka is famous for several of its haunted hotels and all the old buildings, including gorgeous old homes and all of its shops. Often Eureka Springs visits entail a trip up to Branson MO to go to the amusement park Silver Dollar City. You mentioned the houses on stilts. Good to see Pocahontas has made a come back. They had a terrible flood this n 2017. There are often earthquake tremors over that way due to the New Madrid fault line. There was a 7.5 in the early 1800’s. Look forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks for posting them.
Great video really enjoyed the ride along. When you made your right turn in Ash Flat where Mark Martin Chevrolet is on that corner if you would have went straight heading towards Evening Shade AR. You were within 6 miles of my house which made your video much more fun for me. I enjoyed your view of Eureka Springs I took my mother to see the Christ of the Ozarks but my RV is to big to drive through that town and mother could not walk that good so I never got to see it. Now I can't walk so good so I haven't been back go back and forth to M-Home a lot still. Again great video.
Being a former truck driver, I have driven this road many times. Is a wonderful drive to make in a car so you can stop and look around when you feel the urge.
Hi Russ: The Note about the only US Highway connecting Canada to Mexico. US 62 is not the ONLY highway, it's the only US highway. There are still a couple of interstates (I-5 and I-35, for example), but those are Interstates, not US Highways. Of course, those interstates replaced other US Highways that originally connected Canada to Mexico. Interstate 5, for example, wiped out US 99, which connected Canada to Mexico back before 1964. Great video!
Glad you liked the trip through northern Arkansas. I've gone to Eureka Springs many times going to & from Branson, MO. The last time I went through Eureka Springs I came close to getting my car smashed up by a heard of deer frantically running down the hill on Douglas St. Luckily only some young fawns actually hit my car so no major damage to the car nor the deer. If you go through Arkansas again go across US-64 especially in July See historic Van Buren, Ozark, The Arkansas Wine Country (Altus, AR) were they hold a grape festival during the last part of July, and a lot more.
Wow!! Eureka Springs was AMAZING!! I only live 6 1/2 hours from there. When I head south again, I will definitely stop there and walk around. So cool!!
Truly enjoy your video. I live in Arkansas and nice to see places I don’t visit. You do a good job of telling us what are doing and what’s up next. Thanks much appreciated 🙏🏻safe travels….
Eureka Springs is one of the most interesting towns in our region. Hardy was nice, never been that far East on 62. Berryville was cool too. Thanks Russ! Surprised you hadn't been there before if you grew up in Oklahoma.
If that big tree was an Oak I found out at a Ladies Retreat this weekend that an aOaks root system is 3 times the height of the tree! That’s why it’s called The Mighty Oak! So interesting! Thank you for showing Arkansas!❤️😀🇺🇸🚙🙏

I live in hardy and love it. It is a way of life. Easy going
