I must say that the Miller Digital Elite is easier on the eyes. I have a strong prescription and my eyes are overly sensitive to bright light. The Lincoln 3350 4c has a better view but I felt eye fatigue after just a few minutes of welding time. The Miller has a blue mirror coating and I think it does a better job of reflecting the bright violet and blue light that is hard on the eyes. I get eye fatigue with the Miller too but it takes a lot more welding time. That is just my non scientific observation. I will do a part two update to the video soon.

I just ordered a passive 2 Piece Glass Mellow-Weld Lens from www.opticoolweldinglens.com , I will see how it is on the eyes and will do a review on it. I will install it into a Jackson HSL- 100. I am on a quest to find a setup that is the easiest on my eyes. We will see how that goes.
That was also another idea I had as well. I use a "pipeliner" hood daily and a big thing for me is a hood that uses standard sized cover lenses. I'll keep an eye out for a review

IV also been looking into passive lenses to try, Iv been looking at Phillips safety lenses.i have purchased a gold coated glass passive lens from them before and was great for 36$ plus shipping, it was definitely more blue than standard green and has the gold coating on the outside which helps reflect heat and other harmful Ray's I believe. they also have the super magenta drop in lenses which are 169.00$ plus tax and shipping. Excited to try something different soon anyways
I've had my 3350 for about 5 years now. It still has the analog knobs on the inside. I prefer them over the digital bs. It also cost almost half the price of the Miller. Bigger viewing area. I wish it had the blue lens though. I really prefer it over the green. Which is better than orange. Good review though. Mostly ,in the field,we use the huntsman slider.
Just received my Miller T94 today from Cyberweld, $298.00 with a $50.00 rebate!! The new ClearLight lens tech is absolutely phenomenal. The ability to see my work and around the shop without raising my helmet is a huge convenience. I was not sure about the side view windows, they kick ass!! They increase your overall awareness of the working environment in way that you have to experience. The external grind mode button is another huge convenience as well; if I have a limited amount of grinding to do. However, if i have a substantial amount of grinding, I still prefer to remove my helmet. Now I have options though. Thanks again for a great review arthurandsons!! How about doing a side by side with the Optrell Vegaview 2.5 and the Miller T94.
B Jolly I too can't get over the T94 helmet... just last night I was TIG welding some aluminium and it made all the difference. The view was incredible. I had never before made such a nice weld... I am glad you like yours.
Did your Miller Elite have the "ClearLight" technology or was it the older model without it before it was updated? Supposedly the ClearLight equipped Miller's are very close to the optical quality of the 4c lens.
FisherFAST It was the older model. I have the clear light T94 and it kills the 3350 4c. Go with the Clearlight you will weld all day long without any eye fatigue. The Lincoln is good but not for prolonged welding, at least not for me. I get watery eyes when welding with the Lincoln for any longer stretch. Cheers!
The AO I use is Aqua and has a magenta drop in filter. I also ware amber safety glasses when welding. With this setup the weld appears soft orange in color and is very clear. Everything else I have tried prior gives me eye fatigue just after a minute of weld time. I would like to know more on your opinion and maybe someone can point to some data such as light spectrum graph, amount of UV IR light reflected blocked and the like. I can't seem to find anything bad on google about the safety of these lenses.
AO will not publish that kind of data for the public, actually, no company in their right mind would do such things unless falsified to make a sale like wens lens. Just search for blue light effects, I know of a simple experiment that is visible proof that blue wavelengths are short and packed with a lot of energy but your sensitivity to blue light might now allow you to see the proof. Blue filters allow more UV and other spectrums to pass through and that is why you get a clearer view, the proof can be seen in most blue transparent products like sunglasses for example. Blue filters can be beneficial to some application but not to your eye health, despite a UV filter behind a blue filter. You could put on 99.9 UV safety glasses and stare at the sun, you will still go blind from the other spectrums of light. Sorry that I can't provide hard evidence because in today's society it's almost impossible because everything is debunked or contradicted, even the effects of blue light but a simple visible light spectrum chart goes a long way as simple proof.
@@arthurad2007 It's zero for UV and IR. Even on the cheapest hoods. It's in the plastics/glass they use and has nothing to do with colors or the darkening. Even if they didn't darken they still block 100%. The colors and reflectives they use are just for clarity and color preference.
I will definitely chose the viking over the digital elite very clear on the clear state and nice color when welding. As for the headgear they both suck considering they copied it from speedglas
I like the Viking too but the blue light bothers my eyes when welding for longer periods of time. The optical clarity with the Viking is significant over the Digital Elite. I now use the Viking for tacking staff up. For longer welds I use the Jackson HSL 100 with a passive Aulektro Gold Magenta lens. With this setup I can weld all day... no issues.
The x mode is for the electromagnetic detection I believe. It is used in bright light applications and if there is more than one person welding say some distance away. I don't remember exactly. Best to see in the manual. Cheers!
I am not sure as to how good the Lincoln 3350 is outdoors. I read online a couple complaints about welding in direct sunlight. The miller may be better in direct sun light as it has that x mode feature that darkens the lens by sensing the electromagnetic field verses the light.

I hate the Miller Black Ops Digital Infinity Auto Darkening Welding Helmet With ClearLight Lens (280047)! It is SOOOO HEAVY! The weight gets very uncomfortable, especially when you have it over your head! It comes down on its own by it’s own weight. Miller really sucks when it comes to keeping the hood from coming down on its own! Worst money spent!!
Sorry... I finally got the Rode external mic I ordered online with the special 3.5 mm Gopro adapter that took forever to get. The Gopro 5 audio is disappointing to say the least. I regret buying this camera, but that will be a topic for another video. The update video (part two) is with the new Rode VideMicro mic. I think the audio is a lot better.

How does the blue arc strain your eyes? I'm considering purchasing a auto hood, but I greatly dislike the green shade which is the most common..

Blue light screws with the eyes and brain, AO stopped selling blue lenses long ago to save their skin.

That’s why phones and computers have blue light filters. It causes eye strain. That’s why I like green or amber autodark filters.

I'm considering buying the viking 3350... Now dose it hold up outdoors as good as indoors cause I weld 90% outside.

the new esab sentinel a50 is the best on the market imo, optrel though I think cant be beat
