Very validating to see Ian getting the super tight deviation in spin here too. The consistency of spin with strikes all over the face is what surprised me most with TSR4. I’m not a bomber by any means but it fit my spin window best of the whole TSR line and I was absolutely blown away with how consistent it was all over the face. I could hit the same ball speed with other drivers like Stealth but there was never the ball that spun up into the low 3000s on a mishit like I saw on those other drivers.
Thanks for this series of videos and look forward to the next one. While I am nowhere close to the player who can game a TSR4, I did test it for fun and I was surprised that I could actually hit decent shots with this model whereas I could barely get the Tsi4 off the ground. One of my longer hitting friends had a similar reaction where he would comment that the longest drives of his life came off a Tsi4 in the bay, but he could not game it since those drives were maybe one out of 7 shots. He's excited to give this new model a try as his strong preference is for the smaller head.
Love my TSr4. As a higher spin player, pairing it with the left dash has kept my misses in play, and allows me to work the ball both ways when need be. I thought the sound was a little odd, but nothing that has turned me off to the club. I can see the launch improvements and distance gains in my own game vs the TSi4.
I used a og sim 8* @ 6.5* with a smoke green 60 tx and loved it for the last two years, but in ordered a tsr4 just to see the hype and it’s ridiculously long on good swings and still long on my low heel miss. Never liked stock shafts but the tensei 1k black 65 tx is surprisingly good feeling.
Completely agree with the stock 1K black 65TX. Very stable shaft, feels fantastic. Moved into 8* TsR4 w/ 1K black 65TX from 8* TSi3 with Ventus Black 7X. Loving the results- does what it says on the tin, and surprisingly forgiving…it’s very workable too. Terrible shots obviously punished, but I can live with that- that’s down to me!
I went to a Titleist fitting day and landed in between TsR3/4 but in the end it was the sound that turned me off on the 4. That and my swing changes and I like having the movable weight on the 3.
Wow. Thanks - just what I hoped to see from you. Actually a bit surprised that it was such noticable difference. I'm at 190-195 mph with my TSI4, would be amazed if I actually gained even 1-2 % in distance with the TSR, by lower spin or whatever. Will definitely try it soon, thanks for the video.
Nice test, the TSR range looks very good across the board, so well done to Titleist 👏 Would’ve been good to flip the weights around on TSR and compare them. Or are you saving that for another video?
@@LeprechaunGinger but in the studio it is a lower more muted sound with the TSI4 which I personally prefer. To me the best sounding driver ever is the original Sim driver
Anyone coming from TSI4 & experiencing high spin trying TSR4? Tried flipping the weights too, even used my own shaft. Not talking 100-300 rpm, but 1000+. Around 185-195 ball speed. Could have had a bad day, but a bit surprised and confused how it could be so different for me. Good ball speed & such! Felt powerful with many 1.50 smashes and more forgiving. Just couldn't get it working for me the first time the way tsi did. Will try it more for sure, hopefully can hit it better next time.
@@garyverth4887 I hit up 5-10 degrees :) After second try I realized though the loft settings (fade/draw) impacted my shots more than I expected. Also my TSI is 8, the TSR 9. But finally managed to get some shots around 2000 rpm spin
I've watched it a few times and can't work it out, what is Mikey saying at the beginning when he keeps saying TSI4 being a big advancement from TSI4 and the amount of TSI4's we sold very little but TSI4's we sold quite a few. Is he comparing TS with TSI or what cause I'm confused as hell.
My son, a college golfer, plays the TSi3, recognize this is the 4 review, and he lost ball speed and spin increased with same loft head and exact same shaft on Trackman. Spin went from 2000 with TSi3 to 2500 with TSR4 and ball speed dropped from 181 to 176 with TSR3. Seems like TSR isn’t an improvement at least in my son’s case.
High spin player. Playing sim 2 my low strike miss was 3800-4000 rpm. Tsr4 I lost no ball speed but the highest spin misses I had were under 3000 rpm. Good strikes were 2000 rpm. On trackman was getting 170 ball speed from 113 mph club. Carrying 300. Misses left to right we’re nearly nothing since spin was down so much. Tsr3 was similar. But higher spin than the tsr4. Similar ball speeds and carry on the good ones. Shorter on the spinners.
Love my old TS4 with evenflow white shaft. Tried lots of upgrade shafts but the evenflow white was right for me. I really wanted to get into the TSR4 but wasn’t seeing as good performance with it combined with evenflow or tensei 1k black. I dream of getting into TXG for a driver fitting. I’m sure you could find some gains from my TS4
I'm not a high spin player with my driver but I seem to struggle with getting a 460cc driver closed at impact. I have always found more confidence in a smaller head for a driver. Would a TSr4 be something you would recommend with the thought being a smaller head may help close that face at impact?
I have been playing a TSI3 for about a year and previously played Ping drivers . The G425 Max was just a fail for me and the TSI3 has been fantastic. I don't feel the need to go get a TSR3 but we shall see.
Exactly the same as you I played G425 max for a season and a half then middle of this season got a TSI3 and hit it so much further and straight than I hit my Ping and the sound is miles better I have absolutely loved the TSI3! I went and looked and hit a TSR3 at Dick’s wasn’t really in my usual specs so not the best way to judge but didn’t seem to me it was really any better than the TSI3 I’m currently gaming. I did hit TSR4 and actually really liked the performance I was seeing from that driver
interesting, it tested the TSR4. I found spin control to be all over the place. I would have very low spin on some strikes - below 1800 and some low strikes spiking to over 3000. This has always been the case for me and Titleist drivers. TSR3 was much better. Surprisingly Cobra Ltd LS was the best for me. Ended up buying the Cobra.
Its fascinating to me, that every video i see comparing the “i” series to the “r” series attack angle seems to be greater in the r series drivers. Does this have to do with cg placement?
Question: I noticed a smash factor on the second strike of 1.47 - I didn’t think that was possible on Foresight due to the way it measures club head speed vs Trackman. Did they release a software update to adjust so it reads CHS same as TM?
I currently have a Tsi3 and swing averaging 129mph but struggle with turning over the Tsi3 head would the smaller head make much difference?? Ball impact position isn’t an issue just need some info.
I'm similar swing speed and similar issue. Recently tried all the TSR drivers. Didn't feel like TSR4 was easier to turn over than the TSR3. Smaller yes, lower yes, less forgiving yes. But similar curve. All tested with same shafts. TSR3 8 at -1 upright and slightly shorter shaft was the best option.
Even with the weight in the heel yes, I do play a cut but when I travel and play courses need a draw and not my normal cut and I just struggle so I end up hitting 3 iron off the tee.
This one looked like an ad for the R4. There almost no difference in these drivers, numbers are almost exact. Save 600 bucks and play with your loft setting a little if dynamic loft is that big of problem. If you have an I4 keep it in your bag.
Beginning of the video was hilarious, dude said TSi4 every time

Sounds so different to me compared to the Si4. I like the sound of my Si4, but the sound of the R4 is fantastic.
I liked the sound of the TSi4 better, but can't compare to the performance of the TSr4!
Did you really have to drop the T 😂
I like the sound of the previous model better. But performance is definitely improved
Great video, If you already have the tsi4 Save the $600 You're still gonna hit the same iron into the green. Just a thought. !!!

Exactly the same for me. This combo took me from 3600 spin with my old Cobra F9 to 2400 spin and netted me 25 yards!!
Ian swung that TSi4 like a boss, middled it every time.
Very surprised they didnt talk about how different sounding they are. TSr4 reminds me of a G425 in regards to sound...

Definetely interesed in seeing the difference between TSR4 and TSi4 with the heavier weight in the front in the former
TSi4 seems to sound a lot better than the new one
I was thinking the same thing. That TSr4 sounded terrible!
The sound changes based on where you put the weights in their new woods. Ping G400 LST is still the best sounding driver.
@@LeprechaunGinger lmao you can’t be serious. G400 sounds terrible.
@@Shipwreck15151 no, I love the muted sound of G400 LST. It is known throughout the industry to be the best sounding driver.

TSR4 looks to be so much more stable & faster than the TSi4.

Could just be not hitting up as much. I've thought that before then moved ball forward in stance

That tsr4 sound 🙉
Outdoors it sounds awesome!!
TSR4 more ultmate low spin bomber than the Mizuno STG?
Same test with heavier weights forward? Would be the best comparison since TSI4 cant move weight to the back.
Yes, I want to see this too!
TSi4 was a big advantage over TSi4, around the 50 second mark am I misunderstanding him?
Thanks for the video guys! Wouldn't the comparable test been with weight in front?

I’m a 10 hcp but average 112-115 club speed with driver. Is the TSr4 a good option to help me get rid of some of the spinners that tail off the tee?
Depends on strike tendency I would have thought.. smaller head/face less room for error strike wise
You might want to improve your contact first and go from there.

How is 163 ball speed producing the same carry numbers as me at 173 ball speed lmao, monitors are still unable to mimic real course conditions IMO

TLDR: basically no need 2 upgrade.
Tsr4 sounds like garbage compared to TSI 4
Not worth 700$
tsi face is not hot!
