the real "trust the process" team. didn't fire their coach even after some tough loses. kept patient with MPJ and Murray's injury. it all paid off in the end with the championship.

To add to that, the pickups of AG, KCP, Jeff G, and Brucey B over the past few years on top of drafting Braun helped bolster the talent they already had in their roster as opposed to paying a boatload for a single superstar. It helped to broaden rotations, produce different schemes based on the given lineup, and vastly improve their defense. They all brought something to both sides of the floor including various forms of energy, intensity, strength and intelligence throughout the reg season and playoffs.

Idk, having Mitchell might have actually been a problem. I’d take Murray over Mitchell. Mitchell is super high usage and is kind of a ball hog tbh. I don’t think that fits with Jokic nearly as well as Murray. I know Murray isn’t an elite defender but Mitchell is a cone

At the end of the day, super teams will always have their their time in the sun, sometimes having overwhelming talent IS enough to win a chip. But the Nuggets win is a nice symbol for those teams that have a hard time attracting big names, and have to hope on drafting well, getting good people in the organization, player development and so on. Congrats, Denver!

Aaron Gordons growth on defense was the cornerstone to this champiobship run. He locked up dudes who were supposed to be impossible to lock up.
Whether ANT, KAT, Book, KD, Lebron, Butler - an absolutely killers row of offensive talent - AG locked them up. I know people love excuses like injuries or fit or whatever but their stats while defended by AG are night and day compared to anyone else.
AG was arguably the second or third most important piece on this championship run, just depends on how much you value defense.

Millsap seems a "meet salary floor/give a vet a payday".
They just dumped Gallinari... so that leaves Jokic on a second round contract and Murray on a rookie contract - similar to Lou Dortz's deal in OKC (except "loyalty" instead of "experience").
Millsap was "prototype AG" - especially if you saw him in Utah...
You see his contract and kinda expect "20/10 team leader" - but his experience and "stretch big" game with solid NBA PF body made him really valuable to them.
Replace him with a prime version and you have more of the "lob/dunk" threat AG is now

To say Jokic didn’t deserve that first MVP is stupid. It’s even more impressive than Russ’s MVP. Yes i said that.
The hate for KD defos propelled Russ’s Narrative - P.S I’m happy for Russ -
But if Russ wins that MVP in 017 if I remember correctly then Jokic more than definitely deserved his.
That Denver team was a G League team with him off. And now he’s won a chip people will change the fact they were hating on his MVP.
But Perkins stupid narrative of “Race” being a factor should forever be scorned. I’m a black dude from the UK and even stevie wonder could see that’s so so low to stoop to get Embiid that MVP
Anyways im happy for Jokic.I wish he got that 3 peat MVP.😊

I have to think the Nuggets are favorites to repeat. Our core (Jokic, Murray, Porter Jr, AG) will remain intact, and KCP will be back. Those guys are all young and can improve. Braun will only get better. Maybe Peyton Watson starts getting minutes, he’s got potential. Biggest question mark is Bruce Brown, if he returns then we are definitely favorites to win another championship. It’s hard to imagine what could happen this off-season that makes any team a serious threat to the Nuggets. After the 23-24 season it becomes more murky but we’ll still have the core.

I hate the “he was a 6 seed” argument. Joel and Giannis only had 3 more wins and were the 4th and 3rd seeds respectively so that’s such an arbitrary and misleading statement. Jokic did an amazing job of getting his teammates involved and doing as much as possible to get them prepared to play playoff basketball. That team should never have come that close to winning 50 games and the only other person who really had an argument was Giannis and the defensive gap from the year prior between the two was closed down significantly and Jokic stepped up hugely in that area while being much more effective on the other end and doing a lot to make the game easier for his teammates.

4:39 Yes, it was. I didn’t even like it at the time. This is why you don’t gut your entire team for ONE PLAYER, even if he is a star.
The Knicks shouldn't have re-signed him. SMH. Idiots.

Jokic didn’t deserve MVP as the 6th seed. This year was a much better argument

So sad the heat lost, but at least it was to a great team with respectful fans. The only people I’ve seen talk shit is mike Malone and fans of other teams. Congrats to the Denver nuggets on an AMAZING run ❤

Malone talks enough shit for the rest of us lol. Love that dude. Did you see him at the parade drunk as hell looking like he was about to release a diss track on all the haters? Hilarious stuff.
Heat were phenomenal this year though, got a lot to build from and be proud of. AG was just a defensive monster on KD, LeBron and Butler this year. His growth on D during the playoffs was absolutely key to their victory.
I know people like to say Butler and Lebron were both injured and KD didn't understand his fit yet but the stats with AG on them vs anyone else is night and day.
A couple key moves though and Heat are gonna be beasts in the east next year.

Ill be honest, i thought 2021 was gonna be denvers year, but murray got injured. 2022 mpj and murray never came back, althought theyd of beat the waariors had they were healthy. This year i thought it was possible to win a championship, but i thought mpj and murray could need 1 more season. But there is 0 chance (unless injuries, they dont win the championship next year)

Seeing Blazers fans forced to acknowledge the greatness of the Nuggets might be one of the sweetest parts of this title as a Colorado native living in the PNW
