I purchased a 2023 Colorado ZR2 --a joy to drive & highly capable. Regarding the 2.7L I4T, I've had several GM V8s and this engine is impressive. It has nearly the hp as my Suburban 5.3L & more torque; passing is NO problem. Avg >20mpg combined w/ Bridgestone Blizzaks.
5:38 Canyon owner here; I have the same issue, but it's not what you think. It's actually the phone's fault. I see you have the same iPhone as me. Unfortunately, the camera bump is too big for the phone to lay flat, and as a result (and due to the direct-contact-based Qi standard), it won't charge. My wife's older, non-Pro iPhone (with a thin case) charges every time.
I recently had the dealer flash my infotainment system to version #170 and now wireless charging works on my iPhone 15 pro. It also fixed my ACC issues.

Bought a z71 in 2022 because of the v 6 no need for premium gas and gets mid 20,s mpg depending on speed. Super happy with truck and goes great in snow.
The 22s are my pick, due to the 6cilender engine, not too fun of turbo on trucks, long term keeping it is not too promising. Let's see when it gets over 80k, then we will see how it holds.
These 4 cylinders run on unleaded fuel. And good luck having your v6 that is backed behind a car transmission. The 4 cylinder has a 8l80 and your v6 has a 8l60, so good luck with that
I just picked up a blue, loaded w/moonroof ZR2 3 weeks ago. I've driven it on a variety of different surfaces, from local streets to long highway jaunts to 3 days of wheeling in Moab 2 weekends ago. I seem to be averaging about 18.5mpg in everything from offroad to 85 on the highway (with PLENTY of passing power). LOVE it!
@@j.martin4476 My opinion? Pay the extra for the ZR2. You will NOT regret it. If you have it, and never use it, that's ok, you still get the HO engine and a nice interior. If you get the Z71 and go, man, I wish it had a front locker and the better shocks/suspension...you're f@cked, because you CANNOT do a factory upgrade, the frame is different. If you want to be more Z71 like, you can always buy a second set of wheels and more "street" tires for just running around town or highway trips and you should get a little better MPG with those as well. then when you want to get dirty, put the other tires on.
The trail-boss and the ZR2 are the offroad focused ones. The Z71 isn't the more off road one compared to the boss and the ZR2. and GM needs to give the Colorado and Canyon a selectable rear locker instead of the mechanical one they been using since the 60s
Almost exactly the way I would spec mine. Same trim, color, and options. Just add the spray in bedliner and it would be identical. Looking forward to the comparisons.
The front air dam is easy to remove; would do that on day one. The price is fair for what you get & considering this is near fully loaded. I’m seeing well optioned Z71 locally for $43K to $45K & that’s competitive w/ Ford & Toyota.
The front air-dam probably is removable. In the prior generation, that lip got progressively easier to pop off. I think it was down to 4 fasteners by the end of that model run.
I'm hoping that your long term test results include things the majority of us would be concerned with, such as: How reliable is the infotainment system? My son in law says his 2023 ZR71 Colorado's infotainment is so glitchy it sucks. My experiences with infotainment systems is that their reliability and performance is best rated only after long term use. How reliable are the safety features like the blind spot indicators? Is the transmission more reliable than what Ford has been installing in their Ranger mid size truck? I'm torn on the Z71 trim. Love the interior / exterior upgrades over the way too plain trailboss, but loath the lack of selectable locker and and the lift of the trailboss. The Z71 should have been a "Trail Boss Premium"
I think that's kind of what the ZR2 is. It looks like you can still get all of the "luxuries" as on the Z71 except for the tow package. With roughly the same options he mentioned it's about $3k more than this one, though towing drops down to 6000 lbs.
OMG you guys installed the mud flaps IN FRONT of the rear tires? Or someone at the dealership did? What was someone thinking? If that's where they're designed to go, just take them off, please.
My 1st pic was the new Ranger because of the V6 option but in Canada it is only available on the Raptor starting at over $80k which is a big no-no.
