This Microfreak oscillators update has taken the instrument into the stratosphere - it's headed towards legendary synth status. It was already the most "organic" and expressive synth in my setup. Thanks Oscillator Sink for explaining the new features.

I got Microfreak few months ago. The positive impressions I have for this synthesizer are just rising with time. I am truly impressed. There is a smile on my face every time I try to create something with it. I am using it mainly with my DAW and trying to record some musical sequences with it.
Thats the best way to use it: using the hardware to create sounds, then use modern production technologies to actually turn it into something cool and musical. :)
@@SleutelbosMusic Yeah, I see that often people are talking about going dawless, but I found that I really like the simplicity of recording synths output in a DAW and then apply effects to it. With the sound versatility of Microfreak it is easy to create a whole track while using just that one synthesiser.
@@Brandwebgo Yes, dawless means at least 5-6 power or audio cables if you use one synth, one audio interface and one effect pedal. That is great for a professional musician, but for us, mere mortals, one hardware synth and a DAW is enough. Ok, a midi controller is always great for controlling software instruments. Still, one great groovebox like Digitakt maybe, Circuit Tracks, Deluge or Roland MC-707, while using it with some additional hardware synth or not, could be an example for some minimalistic dawless setup, if you truly want to get away from the computer, but hey then get ready for the possibility of more cables floating around your room with time :)

I am new to the world of synths. But I have a MicroFreak and almost bought another one a few weeks ago just to thank them for creating such a bizarre, wonderful instrument.
@@PunguinYoga And now you know why you still should! Arturia can then send the sales fee to me! :-)
@@marcbrasse747 I am seriously thinking about it. When I saw the MF box with "Mom, the synth is being weird again" on it, I was pretty sure Arturia is my kind of company.
Much better!!
Waiting for mine to turn up 😎
Keep refreshing that tracking page!
The more this thing updates, the more I want one. My most powerful sequencer is a keystep and the one in the deepmind, so we’ll see if (how) I’m able to justify buying one!
Just get one already 😂
@@JonathanRCross I know I need to, but I want a drum machine first dangit and I wanted the behringer rd6 and I’m trying to be patient hahaha
@@graxjpg Decisions.... but really why wait just think of all the mad patches you could create whilst you're waiting for the RD6 :-D
@@JonathanRCross I still have patches to make on my deepmind!!! As much as I need a vocoder to satiate my gear addled mind, I know the agony of not having one will make me a better person, and once I get one I’ll know exactly what to do with it!
I wish they gave us something like the Basimilus Iteritas Alter, or added more parameter locking capabilities but that's just greedy.
That SawX sound has a bit of Manis Iteritas in its DNA. And with Unison on it's a bit like dialling up the Profundity.
"Because some times you don't want it too thick...." Seriously though: THANKS ARTURIA! The last time I saw this much care going into continued product development was the Novation Bass Station II with it's feature-packed refreshes over and over. I love this trend and I applaud every company that invests in their users this way.
Hear hear! I couldn't agree more.
@@OscillatorSink I should mention the Synthstrom Deluge too - years old and still receiving big, meaningful, updates. So many great products are released a little under-cooked and end up dying on the vine.
thanks for the updates! great channel btw! keep going with #jamuary ;)
Awesome Arturia!
Awesome 😍
It really is.
Super synth:)
What a synth 🔥
@ 17:33 m.....that's the one!
I do feel the overall sound is sort of 'flat'...
I believe I saw that you can also use the mod matrix to modulate the unison spread - haven’t had the chance to update and mess with it yet but should be crazy cool.
Yes! You can assign it in the matrix by holding one of the matrix assign buttons and tapping the "paraphonic" button.
