- We decided to take the Agumbe Ghat route while returning from Udupi to Bangalore during the long weekend trip! The route was very scenic but the drive was scary and thrilling due to heavy rains! There is one hill near Agumbe Just 5 Km, Kundadri Betta. Their you can step on the clouds. Its a very beautiful place covered with rare ayurveda herbs.
Agumbe is considered the Chirapunji of Karnataka. During the monsoon's it rains really heavy. Because you drove in that Agumbe ghat stretch for the first time, that too in rains, its obvious that you and your family might have felt terrified, otherwise this is a beautiful scenic road and I always loved my drive through this ghat section/curves. You actually took a bad stretch towards Balehonoor after Agumbe, instead you should have taken Shivamogga and then joined Tumkur road towards Bangalore. The road conditions are good this way and this route would have taken you bit of less driving time to Bangalore.
I am going back to Udupi for sure and going to take Agumbe again! Thanks for the suggestions, I will take the route you mentioned!

So this location is from Kota Padukere

haha! Not very much fond of Rosogolla! There are 200+ types of Bengali Mistis and Rosogolla would be at the bottom of my top 10 list! LOL!

When you are going to Padukere beach, just after taking the right turn from the highway to the village road, there will be a temple and this hotel is a few metres away from there!

Didnt your in-laws and wife curse you for taking the Agumber route, keeping them unnerved due to the rain? And man you took almost 12 hours to reach home? You are lucky as your co-passengers are very patient.
They were worried for sure but enjoyed the drive! My wife and daughter are real sport and they have no complains ☺Did 16/17 hours drive number of times! In fact we are starting Bangalore to Rajasthan road trip next week! Do follow us if you are interested on watching Road Trip videos!
