To those unfamiliar with the video's location, most of the band's interior shots were filmed at Eastern State Penitentiary. It was the former home of Philadelphia's most hardened criminals... and even some not from Philly. Al Capone comes to mind when he was imprisoned for income tax evasion...go figure. And his cell is still intact. ESP has become a haven for photographers, video camera crews and the SyFy Channel's "Ghost Hunters". Every fall it host "Terror Behind The Walls" making the prison a haunted house. (And my old job.) And finally... yes... it IS haunted.
It has now become a tourist attraction, especially thanks to "TBTW" and walk thru tours are given during regular non-seasonal business hours. To learn more about ESP or TBTW, please check out the Eastern State Penitentiary website! ;)
So many concerts at the Bacchanal. I remember leaving a show one night, going to McDonald's and getting held up. Philly, a well rounded pit of despair and limelight.
@ Adrian Hernandez, The Beach Boys recorded two versions of "California Dreamin'". The second was recorded in 1986, and is pretty terrible, and that terrible version is what the dead milkmen are referencing. Yes, I am fun at parties.
It's our end of the year episode and what better way to say goodbye to 2015 than with the legendary Joe Genaro AKA Joe Jack Talcum from the iconic punk band The Dead Milkmen. I think you're right- I recognize it from having toured it in Philly a few years ago and it was just as run down then as it was in this video. They told us on the tour that "12 Monkeys" with Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis was filmed there.
I have always wondered if Joe Genaro ever did a version of the song live where he extends the chorus out to a ridiculous length. Maybe it would be something like this. We got into her car away, we started rollin' I said how much you pay for this Said "nothin' man it's stolen" you look so wild (Punk rock girl) let's have a child We'll name her Minnie Pearl Just you and me Eat fudge banana swirl Just you and me Let's watch films with Milton Burl Just you and me Or cartoons like Secret Squirrel Just you and me Let your team colors unfurl Just you and me Let's go ride the Tilt a Whirl Just you and me Watch My name is Cousin Earl Just you and me We'll travel round the world Just you and me Punk rock girl By the way anyone in here from Middletown PA? I was there a long time ago at my grandma's house. Wondering what it is like now some 30 odd later.

Ladies and Gentlemen from Warner Music and other publishers around the world, do you really think taht you help your artist with muting the audio or taking the vids out of youtube. NO, YOU DON`T! Most of you don`t have a fucking clue about how to build up images or to sell music. You are updated. GO!!!
@@OysterWard there's a lot of similarities in their sounds you must admit, and of course The Minutemen were a highly influential band in the LA punk scene where The Dead Milkmen came up.

Simple song, but a "classic", loved it since the late 80s!!
So many concerts at the Bacchanal. I remember leaving a show one night, going to McDonald's and getting held up. Philly, a well rounded pit of despair and limelight.

+Sammii Hawkins: I don't know, maybe he's a cheapskate. Rodney said the situation "makes no sense."
This looks like it was shot at Eastern State Penitentiary.. Anybody know if that's true or not?

Sounds like Weird Al covering a Weezer song.
+Mikey Millions: Nice Ted DiBiase avatar there.
Or Weezer covering a Weird Al song. Say it ain't so.
Take it back! Take it back! Weezer are not fit to lick DM's Chucks!
Or it sounds like the Dead Milkmen. I want to hate you for that comment but your choice of avatar won't allow it.

was this band an acknowledged Minutemen homage, or were they a ripoff of the Minutemen?

I love this band but California Dreaming is not a beach boys song ...just sayin' .....
Don R The Beach Boys recorded a second version of "California Dreamin'"
+Don R That's part of the joke. They're kids, they don't understand or care.
They covered it though
My ex Girlfriend hates this !!! ??
Good thing shes your ex
bussnese only
Poison kind of sucks
+TheSquaidsFoundation: The best use MTV ever made of their videos was when they became cannon fodder for Beavis and Butt-Head's insults.
Or died
