You’ve blessed my evening so richly. I hope that God opens many doors for you both. Unreal harmony. I know it’s tremendous effort invoked, but the sheer talent and beauty that you both display is remarkable.
Also 69 here. When we were coming up, music was controlled by record labels, radio, TV, etc. A lot of extraordinary musical talent got passed over by the mainstream industry. While the internet has had some negative impact on society, we now get to see and hear unfiltered talent like these two who haven't had to jump through hoops to get their music heard and appreciated.
Some of us are old enough to remember this song from the Peter Paul and Mary album "In the Wind" from 1963 (I think '63). You two nailed the harmonies. An excellent version of an oldie but a goodie. Thanks!
This is actually more of a rendition of Nick Drake and his sister's cover of the song. Search Nick Drake. You won't regret it, although you might be disappointed you didn't hear of him sooner before he killed himself (maybe) back in '74.
The earliest known recording of this song was on Bob Gibson's debut album in 1956. Everyone I know who plays it on the guitar learned the chords from the Joan Baez Songbook.
I grew up hearing Peter, Paul & Mary singing this. Thanks for going back to the richest songwriting well ever. Folk music. Proven by generation after generation of real people singing in their living rooms...
I'll weigh in at age 72. It amazes me how you draw such a strong audience from us old timers as well as younger generations. I guess good music and good musicianship is timeless. Your harmonies with Mary are beautiful as always. Thanks for sharing.
72 here. He’s hit upon the formula where covering quality oldies, great musicianship, and looking like many of us did in high school, takes us all back to a younger, better time, and just for a moment, gives us the illusion that we’re not alone.
What a beautiful sound to wake up to this morning. This was so smooth and perfect. I know I will always hear something fantastic when I come to Josh's page.
This song is part of my youth (I am almost 80 now), how can I thank you for this beautiful interpretation ! You were absolutely awesome on this one!🙏🙏🙏🍀🍀🍀🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️👍👌✌️
I've seen several of Mary's videos about the reality grind of being a professional musician. I hope this is the thing that makes it all worth while. If religion were a thing that money could buy, then the rich would live and to poor would die.
I know... two wonderful and accomplished music artists in their own right... BUT DAMN, Please don''t stop doing these extraordinary duets... together, these two, they're like... butter!
I first heard this on a Peter, Paul and Mary album as a kid. I stacked about 6 records every night and went to sleep as they played. This version almost made me cry. Thank you, Josh.
This is quite possibly my new all-time favorite from either of you. You two OWNED this song. Peter and Paul have to be proud and Mary is smiling somewhere above.
Saw Josh and friends in Leeds, UK recently. Amazing night that provided all I hoped for [and more] having watched many of the online songs they have done. This song, so gentle and yet ... well lost for words.
"I feel like we're very close.. to something great here" Truer words were seldomly spoke. You dear madame and sir are pure joy to listen to. Thank you very much for your gift to all of us, your listeners
Mary's voice is like that one bottle of whiskey that proves difficult to find, but that I'd buy regardless of the price because its smoothness is worth sharing with the people you love most. Delightful 😌
The soft focus of the camera lends itself to the gentle, dreamy perfection of your interpretation of this classic old spiritual! Thank you Josh and Mary, for the exquisite harmonies!
Great job. I never heard this one before. The composer was obviously inspired by the bible. on earth we are here for a short while then die. all our trials, failures and successes will be no more. Jesus promises eternity with him. our souls live forever and in heaven there will be no more tears.
I know this song for a very long time. My late parents had this record 'Harry Belafonte at Carnegie Hall' with this song appearing on it. It still is one of my favorite records. Great performance, guys!
Since there are no records of where, when, and by whom, this song was first composed (Wikipedia) every version that has been recorded, since Bob Gibson released the first commercial version in 1956 as “Bahamian Lullaby”, each artist’s interpretation must stand on it’s own merits. Each listener can then, according to their musical tastes, like the artist’s effort or not. For me, a very old folkie, this Josh and Mary interpretation is right up there with PP&M, Harry Belafonte, The Kingston Trio and Joan Baez! You two must do an album of classic folk tunes, I’ll buy it!!! I’m also not forgetting the excellent staging and video work by Kelly Oden!
Deep cut.. I've always loved this song from Nick Drake and his sister. I had no clue Peter, Paul, and Mary did it though. You guys sound amazing. Seriously, super good.
Prismo - Yes, PP&M did this song in the 60's... It was so beautiful to hear this as a middle schooler... :) Listen to their original version sometime...They were also sublime !
This is amazing Josh and Mary! Really love how you can nail covers but also write some of my favorite songs ever. Thank you for all the music over the years and hope there are many more years to come.
Growing up in Middle School with Peter, Paul, and Mary singing so beautifully, it is so wonderful to hear you two sing this so, beautifully... Thank you so much for this, and all that you do for us!!! Thank you so much again !!!
We’ll done. Really captures the folk vibe of that time. I expect great renditions from Josh Turner, but special kudos to Mary Spender. She is right in the pocket
Thank you for having me Josh! This was a dream. x
You’ve blessed my evening so richly. I hope that God opens many doors for you both. Unreal harmony. I know it’s tremendous effort invoked, but the sheer talent and beauty that you both display is remarkable.
Even more of a dream to hear...thanks...
WONDERFUL, MARY! BRILLIANT EVEN...! 😉
very nicely-sung, from the heart, with great sincerity and no affectation - a rare thing and it really grabbed me
мэри...в вас нельзя не влюбиться..... 🙂
As a 69 year old curmudgeon who grew up in the sixties I just got chills running down my spine listening to this beautiful version of this song!!!
Me three!!
Im right behind you Im 73. Yes I remember this song as well. Civil Rights era.
Didn’t the Kingston Trio do a similar song Called “All My Sorrows” ? You did a good job on this song 🎶
They say nothing is perfect...they were wrong!
You were on to something...keep rolling.
"All my trials, Lord, soon be over". Amen to that.
Give your HEART TO JESUS THE CHRIST!! READ BOOK OF JOHN ..ROMANS EPHESIANS.
Some of us are old enough to remember this song from the Peter Paul and Mary album "In the Wind" from 1963 (I think '63). You two nailed the harmonies. An excellent version of an oldie but a goodie. Thanks!

Always a PPM song for me too, but this version is worthy having a look at! Thanks for sharing!
I grew up living On Peter Paul and Mary music. Love this.
The earliest known recording of this song was on Bob Gibson's debut album in 1956. Everyone I know who plays it on the guitar learned the chords from the Joan Baez Songbook.
Please listen to the nick drake version this cover is based on!!
I grew up hearing Peter, Paul & Mary singing this. Thanks for going back to the richest songwriting well ever. Folk music. Proven by generation after generation of real people singing in their living rooms...
ABSOLUTELY!!!
I remember their version of it, but grew up on the Joan Baez version - also stunningly beautiful.
Dave Van Ronk recorded an excellent version also.
My favourite is the Nick & Gabrielle Drake version :)
I'll weigh in at age 72. It amazes me how you draw such a strong audience from us old timers as well as younger generations. I guess good music and good musicianship is timeless. Your harmonies with Mary are beautiful as always. Thanks for sharing.
Me too at 71
You were probably in first grade when Bob Gibson made the first known recording of this song.
72 here. He’s hit upon the formula where covering quality oldies, great musicianship, and looking like many of us did in high school, takes us all back to a younger, better time, and just for a moment, gives us the illusion that we’re not alone.
The two voices together are incredible! Josh please do more with Mary.
This is one of the very best songs ever recorded by Peter Paul & Mary. But Josh and Mary just nailed it. Absolutely beautifully done.
All the times that I've listened to this song, and every time, it's over too soon!
It just keeps getting better, I am so amazed by this young man's talent and he always has the perfect accompaniment. (Mary). 74 here .. Thank You
I haven't heard that song for 50 years...and I've never heard it done that well. Two of my favorites performing it just made my day.
The sweet voice with he sings the last "All my trials, Lord, soon be over" 🥹🥹🙏🏻
youtube's best artists..
Spender killing those harmonies!
Josh’s voice is so pure… sound great together.
The best vocal harmony blend uploaded to RUclips to date. Some things are better together than by themselves. This is a superstar blend of sound.
Wrong! Listen to the Unthanks and you will see and hear.
The unisons … gotta be fake (they sounded so good!)
Very reminiscent of Nick and Gabrielle's rendition on the Tamworth tapes....just as beautiful
Mary's harmonies and Josh"s finger picking put new life in this almost forgotten tune. Very Sweet. Bravo, Brava.
Her harmonies would make angels cry. I should know. I’m 70. 😬
But probably no angel.
You’re not just close to something great you’re in the middle of the greatness. Loved harmony. I grew up with this kind of music in the 60s
What a beautiful sound to wake up to this morning. This was so smooth and perfect. I know I will always hear something fantastic when I come to Josh's page.
This song is part of my youth (I am almost 80 now), how can I thank you for this beautiful interpretation !
You were absolutely awesome on this one!🙏🙏🙏🍀🍀🍀🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️👍👌✌️
the best version of the song, ever
I remember my mom playing the Peter Paul and Mary version of this. Thank you.
I've seen several of Mary's videos about the reality grind of being a professional musician. I hope this is the thing that makes it all worth while. If religion were a thing that money could buy, then the rich would live and to poor would die.
Beautiful. Do more with Mary. Your voices together are heaven in this classic song.
Great one- Peter, Paul and Mary made that famous in 1963- Excellent song
I know... two wonderful and accomplished music artists in their own right... BUT DAMN, Please don''t stop doing these extraordinary duets... together, these two, they're like... butter!
This is fantastic, early 1960's .. we need more of this...
Seriously. Call the Grammys. They can take everything off the ballot. This is the record of the year.
Lol
I have watched this numerous times in the past few weeks. I'm trying not to fall in love with Mary. I love your sultry voice Mary.
Always something fantastic when you two get together
The collaboration we needed, so good , really nice to listen to , I also do music to but not with this much Subscribers ,if you have time check it out

@@kathidori8504 thanks a lot, you made my day,I appreciate 🙏
I would love an album like this just beautiful acoustic guitar and great vocals / harmonies … this is perfection
I couldn't agree with you more. What these two create is pure gold.
Flexin the tape machine! 💪
Beautiful arrangement!
Love the way this is shot with the tape machine in the background and the slight haziness
I first heard this on a Peter, Paul and Mary album as a kid. I stacked about 6 records every night and went to sleep as they played. This version almost made me cry. Thank you, Josh.
Stacking six records! 80% of those reading probably have no clue what you are talking about! Haha!
This is quite possibly my new all-time favorite from either of you. You two OWNED this song. Peter and Paul have to be proud and Mary is smiling somewhere above.
I have never been disappointed when clicking on a video of Josh or the many people he makes music with.
Super tight harmony, really lovely. And the reel-to-reel tops it all off!
sto620 -- Yes ! The reel-to-reel recording at 7-1/2 !!!! Had one of those for decades....
Mary: Thanks for not gunking up with makeup! Nice rendition guys!
One of the three pillars of American Trilogy. I’ve never heard it as a stand alone. Bravo
Saw Josh and friends in Leeds, UK recently. Amazing night that provided all I hoped for [and more] having watched many of the online songs they have done. This song, so gentle and yet ... well lost for words.
Harmonies as smooth as warm almond oil. Thanks a lot for brightening up my day.
Owns me. You keep the fires burning. May they never die out.
"I feel like we're very close.. to something great here"
Truer words were seldomly spoke. You dear madame and sir are pure joy to listen to.
Thank you very much for your gift to all of us, your listeners

The harmonization and the talent is perfection. 🎶 thanks for making my Friday morning joyful.
Honey to my ears
Great job. I never heard this one before. The composer was obviously inspired by the bible. on earth we are here for a short while then die. all our trials, failures and successes will be no more. Jesus promises eternity with him. our souls live forever and in heaven there will be no more tears.
I've run out of superlatives for these two people; they could sing anything and make it magic.....
Oh, this is a combination made in Heaven (and I'm not religious). Sometimes, a lone guitar and two voices are all you need.
WoW, that brought tears to my eyes.........gorgeous
Beautiful. You two should record more together!
Great rendition of a class PP&M song. Mary, what a pretty sweater!
I remember the original from maybe 63 or 64 and this is just as good. Well done
That made my Saturday morning. As a kid of the early 60s, grew up with PPM. The beauty of your voices together brought of joy tears to my eyes.
62 year old curmudgeon. Loved it! Thanks
I know this song for a very long time. My late parents had this record 'Harry Belafonte at Carnegie Hall' with this song appearing on it. It still is one of my favorite records. Great performance, guys!
Beautiful harmonies, like buttah!
Turns out you _were_ close to something great. That was beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with the world.
Special, harmony, the sixties gave us real reflection.

Simplicity, honesty and a memorable match of two voices.
Was Mary Spender sent to earth as part of some divine musical plan? That's my question.
... and you were correct Josh. You really were on the verge of something great!
Waves of nostaglia... buried deep in the memories of my youth, preserved in the songbook recorded there.
Love this soo much. That dreamy smooth sound... amazing. Thank you, the three of you (Josh, Mary, camera lady Kelly), for this video.
That’s even older than retro, brilliant!
I learned guitar in the 60's to Peter, Paul and Mary...great memories!
Y'all captured a beautiful moment........Greetings from Memphis, Tennessee.
mary is everywhere..like the wind
This is amazing Josh and Mary! Really love how you can nail covers but also write some of my favorite songs ever. Thank you for all the music over the years and hope there are many more years to come.
Growing up in Middle School with Peter, Paul, and Mary singing so beautifully, it is so wonderful to hear you two sing this so, beautifully... Thank you so much for this, and all that you do for us!!! Thank you so much again !!!
There are magical things in the world. This is one of them. This will be my opener music for my fifth graders on Monday.
We’ll done. Really captures the folk vibe of that time. I expect great renditions from Josh Turner, but special kudos to Mary Spender. She is right in the pocket
That was just lovely Josh and Mary. I hope you can pay bills this month.
Thank you, Mr. Turner. I so enjoy following your journey. #vicariously
My two favorite RUclips Musicians together what a treat! More please.
This is my favourite cover in a long time. I’ve listened to it 100 times now.💯
well, I could listen to this more than a few times.
Great hearing and seeing young people singing these almost forgotten songs, the first version I heard was by Ray Stevens on an old LP from 72.
Beautiful rendition Josh. Born in the sixties. Found you close to ten years ago. Keep making awesome music 👍❤️
You two are really great together.
Just beautiful, reminds me of very early Peter, Paul and Mary ...
Some of the most beautiful harmonies I've ever heard
Would love to hear more unison melodies with you two, the way your timbres complement each other on the same note is like honey
OMG Kiddos! That was so beautiful. Moreso than the original.
This is the best rendition of this song I have ever heard. Thanks so much
One of my favourites, introduced to me by 'Family Tree'. Beautifully done both.
definitely the nick and gabrielle version
That certainly took me back a few (cough!) years. Thanks.
It's a moving song. Played and sung well. It's my first time hearing that song. Thanks for sharing.🥀
OMG. I can't stop listening to this!
Mary sounds Great. Awesome song
Mary is making the rounds to all my favorite channels. Great singing.
Wow , the two of you singing together is just 👌
Their voices are great together.
