  • The Rogue (formerly known as Roam) Sling by WANDRD is the most versatile sling camera bag I've ever used. It can fit majority of my most used gear AND it can also fit/carry a laptop, which - for a sling bag - is absolutely INSANE and never heard of.

    It is very hard to judge with any bag or sling how it will feel when you pack just the minimum or over load it with gear. The Roam Sling has an interesting approach. The laptop compartment can attach a tech bag and used with a shoulder strap means you can grab just what you need and they join them up.
    I think a 9 litre size with heavy camera gear, battery charge, phone, water bottle and tripod and a 11-13 inch laptop (or tablet, convertible + keyboard) needs two backpack straps and a good waist belt support. The laptop pouch also has a stand for a hinged laptop - not useful for convertible tablets with detachable keyboards that do not lock hinge open and have their own support arms.

    Funded the 9 litre sling as soon as it started. Can't wait to get it to carry my minimal setup instead of using the prvke all the time

    I’ve backed the 6L for when I want to take a minimal kit. The laptop pocket doesn’t do it for me - if I need a laptop I’ll take one of my larger bags - but I can see a use for the tripod tube, which looks good to fit the PD tripod

    The 9l actually fits a ton of stuff, I have a setup of a sony a7iv with 85mm 1.8 attached then a a7iii with battery grip and 24mm 1.4 attached, plus the small sony 55mm 1.8
    additonally i carry 3 batteries, 2 nd filters, my phone, keys and lens caps inside.
    and i just love how it feels on the back, really snug and secure. over all my favorite bag from wandrd (and i have a lot of them prvke, duo, fernweh and the inflatable one)
    it is totally thought threw, every little detail is just awesome

    All I want to carry is my: A6500 with a 16mm lens, my switch, power bank, tab s6 and a5 notebook🤔. A fanny pack that can use as a sling is key! As a commuter as well as a cyclist.

    Dear CJ, great video. I am looking to purchase this bag, but is debating whether to get the 9L or the 6L. I have a Fuji X-T4/16-80 kit lens and usually carries an extra prime lens (currently favoring the 30mm F2.8 or the 56mm F1.2). I am looking for a "urban street photography" type of bag where I can also have compartments that can fit my mobile phone, wallet, and occasionally a filter lens. I am not quite sure if the 9L is a bit "too big" for such purpose. For my day out shooting landscape, I have a bigger Shimoda for such purpose. Essentially, I am looking for a lighter/versatile bag. Any tips or advise will be highly appreciated. Cheers.

      The 9L can comfortably fit what you’re planning AND remains compact enough to be light and versatile. That’s what I’d go for 👍

    Nice video CJ even if that case isn't for me. Anything else aside, I can't figure out why Wandrd didn't make the interior a contrasting / light color to make it easier to find things inside. Unless there are patent issue with that, it's just a really odd / uninformed design choice that I wish they could show they are getting better with. But, good video and I hope they are successful.

    Would a Canon 5d Mark IV with a relatively large sigma lens attached and then an extra lens ( a 50mm, 1.4 and 85mm, 1.4) - would that all fit in the 6L Roam Sling or would you recommend the 9L?

    • @CJYing
      @CJYing  2 года назад +1

      I wouldn't count on 6L being able to comfortably fit that... Even with the 9L, an APS-C mirrorless setup was in the tighter side!

  • @GeminiteDesign

    Is it possible to fit in a full frame with battery grip?
    My biggest gripe with the Wandrd Duo was that I could not fit a D850 with grip in the quick access compartment.
    Thanks.

    • @CJYing
      @CJYing  3 года назад +2

      With a battery grip, I doubt it. It was a snug fit to get my fujifilm xt3 with an L-plate on. Let alone a full-frame DSLR with battery grip

      @@CJYing Thanks for the response.
      I discovered the campaign very late into its final days and backed the 9L.
      When I queried on the fitting of a D850 with a grip I was told to review the exterior measurements of the bag. Against my own measurements of the D850 setup, they checked out.
      it was not until I saw the youtube reviews did I realize those provided dimensions did not accurately reflect the interior storage.
      Hopefully, I'll manage fit it in and if not, hope that Wandrd will honour a refund request.

    How does the shoulder strap feel carrying this weight for a full day? It's a similar setup I plan, but feels the strap isn't very padded. Thank you.

    • @CJYing
      @CJYing  8 месяцев назад +1

      Strap isn’t quite as well padded as say a backpack but it doesn’t have to be since it doesn’t carry quite as much weight. Plus there’s an additional strap that redistributes the weight across the whole torso

    Hi CJ! I wanted to ask, how do you think it'll carry if you have your prvke on the back then the 9L sling on your chest? Does the sling feel to big as a front carry?

  • @PeterBuban

    Did you get to try the 3L and 6L? How comfortable was the strap on this thing? I have a peak design sling and it feels awful after a while. I've used the PRVKE for a few years and while I love it, it's a really heavy bag. Just wondering if this is at least more manageable the the PD sling

    • @CJYing
      @CJYing  3 года назад +1

      I haven’t tried the smaller slings but the strap feels good so long as you’ve set it properly. As I mentioned in the video, if you haven’t set it up properly, there’s a clip that can dig into your chest which can be uncomfortable. If you liked the straps on the prvke, you’ll probably like these ones too

    I notice that the laptop case in using the ergonomic mode, that it bends a bit... I was wondering about the durability and long-term use of it cause I don't want to invest in the case if it will overtime bend upon continuous usage considering your hands will rest a lot on the laptop.
    Could you share your experience with it?
    Do you think its worth it?
    Im considering the 6L atm...
    Also silly question, does the MacBook 13" fit inside the 9L if there's nothing in it? (I checked the dimensions but I was just curious in case I don't want to fit it on the outside original slots)?

    • @CJYing
      @CJYing  3 года назад

      It only bends when it’s empty! With a laptop inside, it’s rigid and safe. Some of these shots were done without the laptop inside so it balanced better for shots 😅
