My mom's side of the family comes from West Virginia.
Every year for mine and my siblings birthdays our family members would come all the way to Tennessee.
Last time we went was for the funeral of my great great grandma.

The reason this song hits so hard on a feeling you cant quite explain is because its describing a world you'll never see. Even I who was born in 1982 when i stop and look am constantly baffled by the amount of noise and traffic even in small towns, just a pervasive buzz and sound you cannot escape. When i was a child after 8pm you didnt see cars in the streets really, the entire town went to sleep, a quietness came over everything that no longer exists except in the extreme remote areas where people just do not live. The "country roads" are fast disappearing and even those of my youth are gone, paved over, removed and replaced with shopping centers and parking lots... its like your memories are being torn from you for the sake of a few dollars more. Anyway enough rambling, back to work i guess.

possibly the best version of this song i have found thus far. the original is always king, and the fallout 76 version is amazing, but this feels more passionate, it feels like there is deliberate emotion put behind it. and i think that makes this the best cover currently online.
