I'm a 55 year old man taking care of my 80 year old mother who raised me on country music. For some reason this song has been on my mind lately and to stumble upon this masterpiece was Heaven sent. It brought tears to me my eyes thinking about my Dad and younger sister who have gone to be with the Lord.
Sorry for your losses. Bless you for taking care of your mom.
You are loved sir❤
Yes, played this at my Dad's funeral.
I am 68 old man from Croatia, Europe and whole my life listen all kinds of country music!
This is why I can read through comments all night long - because every so often one runs into beautiful people sharing glimpses of their life experience.
If ever you read this, I wish you a blessed day, Sir.
Definitely lost it when Randy Travis made an appearance. Kudos to whoever decided that, even though unable to sing, that he be included. Absolute perfection this video is.
absolutely. he's been my all-time favorite behind George Strait. country music wouldn't be the same without him.
that's when I lost it too.
I was dissapointed. I wanted to hear his amazing voice
I feel you Matt, but he hasn't been able to sing since his stroke in 2013:(
Randy was shown@0.51
Who else is listening to this is 2021. Still an amazing piece of art!
Yessss. Kenny Rogers should have been in it too. Randy couldn't sing so if kenny couldn't then make a cameo
So underrated
Once a day for me! Just to wake myself up with positivity!!

Today is April 17, 2024 and I cannot belive this is the first time I have seen and heard this. Amazing medley with astounding talent. Country royalty throughout. Thanks to all these amazing artists for so many years of great music
It’s fantastic!
I was just thinking we should send this to one of those bits react people and say this is the south's royalty, even has our version of a queen at the end.

You people should stop saying who should be showed more and some people that shouldn't be in it and all that stuff. Just enjoy it! It's a great song and I think we can all agree.
I think there's a question that needs to be asked: Who did they ask that said no to being in this? Why did they have to have 30 artists for their 50th anniversary celebration?
Matthew Lang I disagree.

If Denver never had gotten on that plane in '97, he just might have lived long enough to see the impact his music has made on the Country & Folk Music community, and everyone in general. However, Denver is gone, and we must recognize that as a truth, which we will deal with for the rest of our lives. Don't take this comment as a sad note, but as one of celebration. Though, Denver suffered a tragic fate, without him, people would have never been brought together using his music.
We thank you, John Denver.
I hope you made it to (almost) heaven:
West Virginia.
I agree. Though his death was tragic, I hope he’s able to see, from heaven, what has flourished in this genre which he helped shape.
Very nice of you

I think just like Elvis and john lenon. The death helped hype up their actual talent.
Not taking away from the greatness of this song but I wouldn't put him in a league with the like of cash or Dylan.

hello
Hi
bessssttttt song evvvver
At 0:51 they gave Randy Travis an appearance, how touching! He was one of the greats during the “golden age” of country in the 80s and 90s, until a hospital stay and a stroke in the 2010s or so left him so badly hurt he had to relearn to walk and left him with aphasia, so it’s difficult for him to speak full sentences. He’s relearning how to play guitar, and he goes to country concerts with his wife so he can at least hear the music he loved to once play, and he’s using his fame to raise money and awareness for stroke research. I’m very proud that they showed him this gesture of respect by including him ❤️
Is that him again at 3:34 in the field? It's so quick and at a distance that I'm not certain, but fairly positive.
i'm glad that they honored him in that way too... i grew up on him, George Strait, Reba, Alan Jackson, Alabama, Brooks and Dunn, Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride and a few others so seeing them was refreshing and it was a joy to have this cross my feed on Facebook and it's been two years on the video itself

That's why he didn't sing at all during the song? Oh gosh I had no idea! The moment is even sweeter now! I remember when this song first came out, I was so happy to see him but didn't know why such a great man wasn't singing at least one line in the song. Oh gosh..

Did anyone else cry when Dolly ended it? So many beautiful memories, thank you❣
I cried when I saw Randy Travis. Cried when I saw Jason Aldean for other reasons. But now I cry every time I watch this.
Cry? Why... I laughed at her stupid plastic surgery. What a fake. You country fans are so cheesy
@@brooklynboy1000 I cried about Randy Travis because he is such a legendary icon in country music and he is gravely ill. As for Jason Aldean I cried because he was the performer at the Route 91 Harvest festival on October 1st in Las Vegas. Which is where I reside. So please forgive me for having my city terrorised and being emotional about it. I was in the midst of the situation and its hard to deal with. So if that makes me cheesy then so be it.
Lé Polisher it’s ironic actually. Dolly knows fully well that she looks fake. She just loves the look of it. The ironic part is that despite all the fakeness of her looks, her personality and soul and incredibly genuine. Read one of her books. She’s a treasure.

But I’m in love, does that count? ❤️
This is just one of those songs where it'll always be a good song 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 years so on and so forth down the road. Been like 2 or 3 years since I first got introduced to this version of country roads and I have to admit that it still makes the hair on my arms stand up. Song gives me the chills/goosebumps. My mom's favorite song was Take me Home, Country Roads. But she loved On rhe Road Again and I Will Always Love You as well. My mom passed away just a couple of months before this beautiful tribute came out. I will never forget the first time i heard it, with my mom's passing still so freah. I was driving home from work, and this song came on the radio. It felt as if it were mu mother telling me goodbye. I lost it crying, and had to pull over on the side of the road. Now here we are, 8 years later, and it still has that same effect on me. I absolutely love this tribute, even though it makes me cry like a baby.

Don william 😞❤️
Wow looking at the comments. 5 years ago I commented in this. Did we forget where we came from? Did we forget our roots? Or our we to wrapped up in everything else? I'm not. God bless you Dolly. We Country folk know our roots and we know where we came from. I came from the coal fields of West Virginia born and raised. Some of my family still works the mines. Country Roads.. Please take me home. Thankful im in the blue ridge mountains close to home.
Anyone else cry from the beauty of this song? I did lol love the fact Alan, George, Reba, Dolly and Brooks an Dunn were in it!
Brooks and Dunn, followed by Alabama.....that did it. My heart broke!!
Actually, that was Tracy Lawrence with Ronnie Dunn. Kix Brooks wasn't there
Don't forget Willie!
Actually I am pretty sure it was both Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, not Tracy Lawrence.
a really good piece of music....
I love the fact that they included Randy Travis in this! Especially since he cannot sing anymore since his stroke. One of the reasons why I love country music. They still have respect and have each other's backs.
Give it a few years and the public will forget him like almost every country singer that gets old.
@@tyronekracht461 we have and will never forget him. Maybe kids and people who don't know good music and are dumb will forget him but as country music fans we will never forget
@@tyronekracht461 We true country people will never forget the legend that is Randy Travis. Stroke or no stroke, he's still the man we love and adore. Who cares about "The public" they don't matter to us country singing lovers!
@@tyronekracht461I'm a hispanic woman living in Guatemala and guess what? My daughters know who Randy Travis is and have listened to his music because of me but they like him too. So, I don't think he'll be forgotten any time soon.
Left WV after graduating from college there. Made my home in TX. Never forgot my roots. Visited often. This song brings the best of both of my worlds together. Love Willie but headed back home.
That one song that for just a few fleeting minutes makes you wish you were from WV and at the same time understand that every state in this great country, is something you love and appreciate!
This gives me chills down my spine. It's the most beautiful thing I've heard in a while.
Georgena Curtis Eric Church's voice was my most noticeable
I So agree
It brought a tear to my eye.
When Carrie sings her part it hits you like a train ride
Ratchet1245 yuss!!
Kenneth Winters it does it made me sob
Ratchet1245 it's awesome they had Charlie, willie, Ronnie, Reba, Dolly, Alabama, An Randy. all the good country back in the good old days. an yes it does, between Carrie an Dolly.
Amen! She really is breathtaking!
Agreed!! I was wondering when she would came in and bam! Hits us with her beautiful voice. :)
I am today years old - February 8th, 2023 - just hearing this song for the first time! I've had it on repeat for about the 10th time already. FANTASTIC collaboration!! I would have loved to see two more artists from my younger years (25-30 years ago) .... Garth and Shania. Seeing Randy Travis put a lump in my throat,. I would have loved to hear his voice on this recording. LOVE LOVE LOVE
Garth is in here : )
@@jennawaddington8313 I just watched again - I didn't see Garth. What time does he appear? How am I missing him? :)
Garth isn’t in there.
This song was good when it posted. Very cool to see everyone over the years. Seeing this today this is greater on so many levels. The singers, the medley of different songs. It's so good
love it .. a true country music masterpiece
me to
Yeah ok baby
NO Toby KEITH? FOK OFF
@@rustyshackleford7282 How could you do this without Hank Jr. , Dwight Yoakam, Garth Brooks, Bill Anderson, Gene Watson, John Anderson, John Conlee, Lorrie Morgan, Sammy Kershaw and the list goes on.
When I put this song on everyone in my family sings it lol
this is like the perfect song, ya know? rainy day, driving home after some sort of incident, and you just need to be home, and home lies on those country roads.. it truly is where home is..
I have played this video so many times. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT PARTISIPATED IN MAKING IT. It is so doggone cottin' pickin' AWESOME.
From West Virginia to all the great men & women who gave us so much good music that got us to where we are now god bless you all 🙏
Country music will never lose its traditional sound which is why they mix it into what’s popular today so that way it still sounds country for their young audience. like country pop, country rock, country hip-hop, country rap, country RnB, contemporary country and more for example.
An Indian here. No other music moves me as much as country does. I feel an instant connection. From John Denver, George strait all the way to Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan. I love and listen to them all.
Nothing else has the soul, simplicity, natural and beautiful picturization that most of the country songs have. You listen to some and it feels like you have left the concrete jungles of the urban world and took a stroll down the river in a lovely little remote village far away from it all.
Thank you America country music fraternity for this wonderful gift to the world ❤️. We are indebted forever.
Long live farmers, god's country, countries' gods, nature and music with such soul and simplicity.
We love the Indians!
I loved your comment. How heart felt and true.
I feel like no other genre of music could pull something like this off. Their egos would get in the way.
“We are the world” pulled it off and it’s a mixed variety of artists
Yea country seems to be the genre that keeps tying itself back to its roots while evolving and incorporating new styles as well. I'm not a huge country fan, but by no means a hater.
They have made some thing similar we are the world with the orgainal cast mj ect .
I completely agree! Never could agree to something more! Country music will never die! At all!
True, but without the "crisis/charity" driving the moment, would they gather together? Or would as many gather together just for a genre of music?
I always felt like they were saying goodbye
John Denver - missed so, so much. What a beautiful tribute, Country Roads..
I love they put Charlie Pride into this incredible work of musical artistry! Take Me Home Country Roads is by far one of the most beautiful and amazing songs to ever be written. And I will stand by that no matter what anyone says!
Agreed! I’m so impressed with the older generation; they still sound amazing.
RIP John Denver!
His part is honestly my favorite part.
@Cody Olson me too!
@@montanaskies2702 INDEED! R.I.P. JOHN DENVER & CHARLIE PRIDE!
I love when Dolly comes on at the end the other singers are like the queen has arrived we must all be quiet and let her sing.
Like that to would have loved to see Loretta lynn
Wish john denver was alive to see this
@GAVIN F F
@@Wyatt-kj7ou same. To be a part of it!
I was waiting for her throughout and they really save her for the last
I don’t even listen to country, but I know some of these artists and this song. What a phenomenal tribute. This gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it.
No matter how many times I've seen this incredible video since it was created, it always makes me think of being a kid going with my mama to see the country music concerts at the Taft Theater in Cincinnati back in the late 60s and 70s. I wish she would have still been alive to see this when it first aired. She would have loved it. I remember seeing Ronnie Milsap, Charlie Pride, Charlie Rich, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Billy Crash Craddock, Crystal Gayle, and so many more. I also got to see John Denver at Riverfront Colosseum on my 14th birthday.
