They look superb & the tread alone is impressive.
Thanks for bringing them to my attention

Very interesting to hear these comments about these Mutant tyres from Dunlop. It's encouraging to hear such things about Dunlop motorcycle tyres! I've never got on with them. I might very well give them another try with these mutant tyres. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the review Mark. I’ve been trying to decide what my next set of tires would be. I’m definitely going to check these out. 👍🏻

Just had some fitted to my FJR1300 and WOW!.... Instantly changed how it handles, unbelievable.

Great review and perfect timing, ordered a set before you finished your ride.
I spend my time split between Cornwall and Kent, so have been looking for that Unicorn tyre that is grippy on tarmac and can also deal with "dirty" roads. I love the tiny backlanes but that gritty/slimy/muddy strip up the middle makes for many squeaky moments.
Well done Dunlop and I hope they send the blood-bikes a few more sets.

Great review on this vital piece of kit and all sounds really positive. Would love to hear what sort of mileage people are getting out of the in the long term but realising that grippy tyres usually come at the cost of longevity 👍👍

Love the review. Riding a pair of Pirelli GT's at the moment but I was in a low speed low side because at a stop light the front hit some loose, fine, road pavement type gravel at the apex of the turn and the front just slid right out from under me. No chance at all to counter. Tires like the Mutant give you grip in those circumstances.
The Mutant looks to me to be an evolution of the Dunlop 401-404 series tires... Available to way more riders is a GOOD thing.
    They also look retro
Dunlop knows it's a winner because they ain't cheap. Middle of the road in price for a do-it-all street tire is fine by me.
This is my next set. By the way daily commuter here . I haven't owned a car in 7 years now.
They'll be going on my 2020 Ninja 650 KRT ABS, and I'm sure I'll get stares from other crotch rocket riders.
I have to check but I think I can put them on my 1986 SRX600 as well.

I have them on my bike for 3000 km now and can confirm your impressions. Makes my GS more agile than the A41s I had earlier. They are less noisy, too. I feel much safer on them in the wet. Can't say anything yet about mileage but would be interested to know from riders who have clocked down more kms/miles on them

Very tempted for these for next winter, i usually run Heidenau k73 winter tyres and ahcnage to summer tyres when its time. These might do for all season rather then keep swapping. I do love the k73 si02's though you wont find a better winter bike tyre imo

Glad you like them 😉, expect around 5500 miles from them, front more so than the rear. They are designed for the colder weather and not for longevity. Big 👍👍👍 Dunlop.

My Ducati Scrambler has 5050 miles on the stock Pirellis and the rear tire is close but not yet done. I'm gonna replace it in the next month. The only reason I would change to the Mutant is for a mileage increase.

Are there any bad modern motorcycle tyres? Can we say that pretty much any modern (sport touring) tyres will work fine on our bikes?

I use the Bridgestone A41, which are comparable when it comes to technology and stickiness in wet, ice and snow conditions that I've ridden with them in those conditions. I have those A41's on my DRZ400. But I think that I would get the Dunlop Mutant's on my sports bike, so that I don't have a normal oh shit moment when going over mud or horse poo on the roads...

Dunlop Mutants are difficult to mount by hand. It's low profile car tire challenging. You should plan on having help and three 20 inch tire spoons. Its going to take you almost twice as long as normal. Especially the front if its narrow. Great tire though. 9/10

Hi Mark, the response from Dunlop: Your e-mail was forwarded to our marketing team who have details on future plans. I have been advised the current Mutant with a width lower than 110 is not in the making.

Would love to see a typical blood bike ride. Are you allowed to break the speed limit in emergencies?

    • @markholroyd5365
      @markholroyd5365 3 года назад

Hiya, No we are not allowed to break the speed limit... You would be surprised how few ‘emergency services’ are. In Cornwall we took the decision that we don’t need them so we don’t use them. Other groups do however. Ride safe, we do.

Could we get an update on the durability of these tyres please.
I'm thinking they'd make excellent autumn /winter/spring tyres. Summer riding conditions, would it shred these tyres.
I'm only asking as I'm having these fitted to my bike in a couple of days time. Riding mostly on similar Devon lanes.
Cheers 👊😎 I enjoyed the video.
