    I met George at a clinic once in Sacramento. Most humble rock star ever. Spent more time wanting to know about others styles, approaches, influences and wanted to learn from them. For a guitar god this guy is as humble as they come.

      Its honestly alot more common that you would think. Ive found alot of shredders do this kind of thing one example being Satriani or Micheal Romeo

    Definitely a natural educator. Cool how he explains different approaches other than his... Unusual for most artists. Usually they’re all condescending about other musicians not playing it “correctly”. Good man.

      When Randy Rhoads died, George took the students from Randy's academy and continued to teach them himself.

    George, you're a great teacher! I like how you are patient, and play through the parts slowwwlyyy, unlike many other guitarist who just seem more interested in showing off their own chops. You should do more lesson videos. Thanks!

      Interestingly enough, George took over teaching Randy Rhoads’ students at Randy’s mother’s music school, Musonia, for a while when Randy went on tour with Ozzy Osbourne. So, teaching guitar is already in his history.

    My older brother claimed this to be the best instrumental rock song ever when i was a kid. It is still magical for me. The feeling george puts into his playing makes him sound so individual. I can identify when its him with all the harmonics, vibratos, flattenouts etc its like a beautifully crafted signature.

    Thanks, George, for such a fantastic lesson! I'm 62, so I've been a fan of your for quite a long time. The first time I heard Mr. Scary I was blown away!!! I just want to tell you it is my all-time favorite song! Thank you for such an incredible piece of art, you are truly a legend.

    George that song is one of the best guitar songs ever. I still get chills when I hear it on my gym play list. As a fellow player all I can say is thank you for posting this video. I’ve always wanted to see you go in depth with this song!!! Your going to make guitarist around the world happy, and now I’m off to learn the proper way to play the beast that is Mr Scary.

    I could tell this was a struggle for George, as he just plays but can't really break it down in pieces. I was never really into Dokken at the time, but it's clear he's a great guitarist. I would never attempt to play him, but I like to admire his playing from time to time on RUclips just to see and hear what greatness sounds and looks like.

    This is amazing
    So many "shredders" from that era but George was the best by far and to hear him break down probably the best song from Dokkens back catalogue. It's a classic metal instrumental guys. Is just wonderful.

    George is such an awesome guitar player and easily my favorite! Sure, he is not the most technical player or the most experimental, but his tone, style, and choice of voicings are amazing in my opinion! I rank him right up there with Vai, Satch, Malmsteen, Van Halen, etc. as some of the best ever!

    The memories. Love George. He’s the reason I’ve been playing for 23 years. I saw George in Dallas at a club called City Limits. Me and my wife were in the front row right in front of George. He likes to put his foot on the stage monitors. He was so close my wife took a pick that was taped to the body of his guitar. He didn’t even bat an eye he was so into his playing. Legendary player. Been a major influence on my playing for years. Thanks George.

    this is some of the best recorded guitar playing I've seen from this guy, I know the rig and the sound sucks but you can see the fingers fucking move and you can put a safe bet on him hitting the notes he's playing. We wouldn't be watching this 30 years after his career started if he didnt.
    I just witnessed 12 dimensions of this song. I didn't just witness it, I experienced it. And now I'm a better person.

    When I first began playing the main riff, I used all downstrokes. Years later I began doing everything alternately picked. Going back to that riff it’s really hard for me now to try downpicking it all lol. There seems to be more aggression in downpicking it all at least for me. Great song George!

    I watched this years ago when he first put this out. I've not played this song in years.. I may need to get back into a Dokken swing again.. This was a great video when George did it.

    One of my favourite guitarist and instrumentals "Mr Scary". I missed an opportunity to meet George Lynch when I was in Scottsdale Phoenix Arizona in 1990 while I on holiday driving around the US.

    I do this much differently. Learned it in 87, now I'm stuck doing it my way. Song has a lot of electric energy, and that's what I strive to convey. Thanks Tony!!

    I fkn love this instrumental... learning it made me better . It also made me admire George lynch even more. ....You just never know a piece of music until you can play it. Also, it's always reminded me a bit of Henry Mancini's, "Peter Gun" theme.. it's those flattened 5ths! 💀💀💀💀🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸

    Lynch!!! He’s such a beast!! Such a down to earth guy too. I guess Mr Dokken used to call him Mr Scary back in the day cause he was so unpredictable. That’s supposedly where the name came from. I read that years ago. Not sure how true it is but I believe it

      From what I know the band used to rehearse at Dokken's house and it was Don Dokken's kids who nicknamed George Lynch Mr Scary because of his guitar sounds

    @15:19 - I always thought a double stop was playing two strings on the same fret? Kinda like Smoke on the Water, where you play it on the D & G strings at the same fret.
    It sounds like what he's describing is a unison bend where you anchor on one string with your index finger and on the next lowest string bend that one up to match the pitch.
    I ain't going to question the master George Lynch, believe me, I just wanted to clarify this.
