  • This is an unboxing video of my new 54 port (Lil sweety) hummingbird feeder. I purchased this feeder from the following site. I love talking to other birders so if you have any questions please post them below. More information about the feeder in the video see the following Amazon link: amzn.to/2Xi4Yzs

Thank you for this video. I just got one as a gift. No instructions though, so I didn't know what the little separations were. I definitely won't fill my feeders that way. I'm excitedly waiting for my little hummers here in Indiana. Can't wait to see them. 😊

Glad it helped. This one is great if you have lots of hummingbirds. I only pull it out once a year (when they are migrating and I get lots of them). For regular day to day use it might be too large for your needs. Just FYI, I have others I can recommend if you need something smaller.

I have to wait because I bought one made from China (unfortunately bad business). Hummingbirds wouldn't go NEAR it.

Yeah lots of Made in China knock offs that are not near as good.

Nice video, but you fail to indicate the price of these feeders. I'm guessing this is because they are way overpriced or you don't think price is relevant.
For other hummingbird lovers interested in different feeders, this is the large version. The smaller, 12 oz version is $22.95. Yes! 23 dollars for two pieces of food safe plastic.
A few things come to mind when watching the birds feed at this device. 1) They appear to have to insert their beaks very far into the port, some all the way to their faces. This seems like it could be dangerous. While it is true that birds feeding on some flowers go deep into the flower, those flowers are _not_ made of rigid plastic. 2) The many indentations of the feeder design don't appear to have taken into consideration ease of cleaning (but maybe there are no indentations on the under side - one can't be sure from this video alone).
Finally, the flat design suggests at least three issues: 1) Being a shallow feeder, the nectar will heat faster in the sun leading to spoiled nectar sooner (or freeze sooner) than the vertical column reservoir style designs; 2) The flat design spreads the weight of the nectar far from the center hook, if the shaft isn't perfectly at 90 degrees the feeder could tip to one side leading to possible leaks. With feeders that have a column of fluid in the center, the weight is centralized and the feeder is more stable; 3) Also regarding stability, the flat design is likely to see more movement in windy conditions (imagine a flat sail compared to vertical cylinder) so will be less stable than other, less expensive central column designs. This could explain why the feeding ports are so high causing the birds to insert their beaks so far into the device, i.e., more to do with leak prevention than flower mimicking.
These concerns are based only on visual analysis from watching the video. I do not own one of these feeders, so none of these concerns have been verified empirically. But they are worth considering before forking out the dollars.

I did not list a price, because the product link is in the description (thus viewers can see the real time price anytime they want). The feeder works great for me when it is migration season and I have over 50 visitors at a time. Most of the season I use one of my smaller feeders.

@@JUMBLE2015 Thanks. Listing a price would still give an indication without need to another link.
I just read another review of this feeder warning people not to buy. Their problems were cracking plastic at the hook attachment, thus tilting base, and creating noise; the perch is only good for the first row of ports; the translucent material made for many feeding misses due to difficulty in seeing the actual hole; and finally, the cleaning issue I mentioned above. Cleaning ease becomes more relevant when several feeders are being used. Good luck!

Wow , that was a mouth full.
Thank you ! I'm new to feeding hummingbirds but I'm learning everyday. I enjoy reading everyone's comments !
