I have no words to say how wonderful this review was, I really have no words. How beautiful and sad is when we think N° 19 was the perfume of Gabrielle Chanel's life, and also her farewell. How much it tells about her life, and how it represents her more than any other. Since it's so irisy and leathery and green, it makes me think when she was a lady boy and liked to ride horses at Etienne Balsan's country house, with the smell of the forests. Also, Boy Capel died in 1919, so here we have the numbers again; and for that and many reasons, it is so melancholic. That said, now I absolutely have to smell N° 19 in the pure perfume version.

Dacob! I have watched this review countless times. This perfume captivated my senses just by listening you talk about it. The mystery around it, the poetry, the depth of emotion. Simply unbelievable how you managed to capture its essence in pure words. You encouraged me to blind buy the vintage version of the pure parfum. And guess what? I'm loving every moment of it. Every whiff of its aura. So delicate, so green and distant and cold in a way. The iris in this one... oh my goodness. No words can describe it. It is indeed a masterpiece on its own. Hi Dacob!! I must say, what a captivating and indeed emotional review of No. 19. You have explained it so beautifully. I can see the emotions you feel, and I'm so happy to see someone else feels the same way I do about our dear Mademoiselle. I can't thank you enough for this review. I'll go to the city today and will definetely try out the scent. I did once smell it, but I can't remember what it is like. It's so dangerous watching your reviews about Chanel fragrances, because everytime I want it! So bad for my budget :). Today I'll be wearing the entire line (bath and body) from No.5.

I have both the EDT and parfum. I prefer the EDT for the fresh green top notes. The parfum I have is vintage, so it has lost the top notes. But when it comes to the dry down, I like the parfum better. Love them both! Thanks for a great review!

yes my favourite too! vintage only and parfum!!! I had only ever used more ordinary perfumes until I smelt this one. I can never go back to the ordinary after finding this baby.

Good evening. I listen to this uploader reviewer for info of Chanel fragrances in particular No. 19 scent because somehow to me he profiles as a Curator, and not just generally speaking..... a perfumer. I thanked him in one of the 'critical' videos but would like to say thanks many more mils × litres again.
I was 15 years old the first time I used Chanel No. 19. I absolutely loved it then. I will go get another one. I just didn't know it was still around. Thank You for a fantastic review!

This is a magical review, thank you so much! It’s lovely to see a young person enthuse about it! I was first bought a bottle for my 19th Birthday by my Mother (in 1985). I still wear it everyday and am now 53. I so get your “opposite of psychedelic 70s nylon vibe”. No 19 is freshly bathed, dressed in fine linen and cotton. Sleek hair, pearls and ballet pumps. Walking in dewy garden and wearing a minimal dab of face powder.
I must stop with this but we are all so over-joyed to listen to you and your connectión to fragrance.

I adore number 19, it’s been my favourite since I first began to wear perfume in 1986 (when I was 19!). You describe it perfectly, it is total sophistication and other worldly. It makes me feel confident, sassy and in control. I adore it.
I'm returning to this video because I just purchased a vintage parfum (from the lates 80s which I was hunting down for weeks!) version of No 19. Took the words right out of my mouth, Dacob!

AWESOME REVIEW! Am visiting family in Berlin. Just walked clear across city to get to Chanel Beaute’ to get some 19!! It’s been a long time coming. I wore this early 80s. First real job. First real perfume purchase. Mom and older sis always had 5- I knew it wasn’t for me. Def the outspoken Chanel was me. Forgot why I haven’t purchased in so long - am thinking the many things I’ve read about reformulation etc turned me off. Your review helped me choose the Eau de parfum over the EDT which is what I used to wear. Thanks so much 🙏🏽❤️

You mentioned it being the largest size, but there IS a MM size (Moyène Modéle) which is 56ml.. I don't know whether they ever made a GM (112 ML) but they did make a 56... Vintage, and EXPENSIVE if you can find one... ABSOLUTELY LOVE this extrait... Possibly my favorite Chanel of all time....
I love how you compare this scent to Scotland. I bought this scent a few months before I visited Scotland, and it is very very similar to the fresh green beautiful air in that country... and it always wears even better in cashmere or tweed. Love this fragrance.

In Edinburgh on Princes Street, you can even buy No. 19 at the Superdrug! The Scots apparently love their No. 19 as well. 🌿🌱🌼
I used to call this MY perfume haha but you can always find your people online. It works in every season, and I always feel a little more myself and sexy (maybe a very sophisticated restaurant or "club") like a smoky room without the smoke

You should really do sleep stories (total complement - you don’t put me to sleep). Anyway I bought an older tiny sealed bottle of Chanel 19. There is some evaporation. This is my favorite perfume. It is so beautiful it aches. The perfume is better than the eau de toilette in a spray bottle by far, however the spray is more accessible, it smells good right away but I don't feel it develops in the same way the pure perfume does. There is nothing like it. And I love your review of this. Take care Dacob.

Awesome review! I love perfumes and have a huge collection of high end perfumes. I have never had a HG fragrance until I tried this one in a sample I ordered. I never thought I would like this, I only ordered it just to see what no 19 smelled like. For years I assumed it would smell like an old lady. Upon first application on my wrist, oh my gosh!..I fell in love, head over heels in love with this. Literally goosebumpy, on cloud nine in love! This is it, it is now my signature fragrance, even though I will probably still wear the no 22, which I tried recently and absolutely love that one as well. Now I am thinking about what I am going to do with my million other bottles... Thank you for an amazing review. You should have your own TV show as a beauty advisor. Just fantastic!
The best review of No.19! I got interested with 19 because the year of its release is my birth year and I was also so intrigued with the story behind it! You have made this perfume review a journey for me.....thank you! I love both No. 19 & 19 poudre , because I also love Iris! Unfortunately, the n19 poudre is so hard to find in Germany, so i will be picking up a back up bottle when I travel ti Paris in January... thank you once again.....

They package it nicely and give you free CHANEL samples on top. I would say go for that if your local perfumery doesn't carry the N°19 poudre ;) xoxo

Thank you Anna dear :) The pure parfum was always ambery green. The bigger the amount of liquid in the bottle and the more you notice it. This is an almost 30ml bottle (28ml to be precise) so you can see the amber come through more but even on my newer pure parfum bottles (7,5 ml spray) the liquid is ambery green. Only the EDT is intense green while the EDP is slightly less green. xoxo
I LOVE your review! I hate all of the reviews out there saying it's a very cold, bitchy businesswoman scent -- I found it to be nothing of the sort! It is just pure emotion, pure genius to me. Chanel No 19 was my signature scent, it was just ME, started wearing it as a 13 year old (Can you imagine? Quite sophisticated for my age!) and wore it for 25 years. Nothing else I ever tried ever compared to me. I need to revisit it. I am worried that the reformulation won't seem the same.

I never in my life thought I would love it soo much. Though it's a vintage scent one need to be a classic to wear it you know all confident and bossy .. This scent takes me into some another universe some parallel universe I guess.

I have only tried the current formulations of no.19 and, with the exception of Poudre which is an easy wear, I struggle with the coldness. Bois des Iles, Coromandel, and Cuir de Russie were such easy loves for me. I need to go back and try it, or better, get a vintage.
Its a cold perfume, best worn on rainy spring mornings ;)

Hi Dacob just want to say Chanel no 19 smells exactly the same as Crown Perfumes STATION Concentrated Al-Rehab and I think it's 10 dollars. In South Africa it's less than 10 dollars. I first put on the STATION oil and over it Chanel no 19. Then my Chanel no 19 last the whole day. I can't even smell a different between them it's just the concentrated oil is stronger and last longer.
My favorite perfume of all time and my signature scent. No willy nilly whimsical stuff for me, I want my smell to tell who's boss. I am a big believer of the New York culture of being mean before anyone gets the chance to be mean to you. Haha! And this fragrance is very THAT. This interpretation of greenery and Iris literally doesn't give anyone a chance to even breathe. The devil may wear Prada ... But surely smells like no.19.

A very expressive and almost touchable..."taste-able (?)" review, thank you++. But can you please let me know what the base notes are like? Does it simmer down into a less green woodsy, calmer base? I'm a newbie for greens but I am coming at it from a skin, all warm and cozy land. This would be my entrance into chypre...why not start with one of the greats?

Thank you for subscribing to my channel Lisa :) Welcome to the fashion bunker family! :) N°19 is the greenest of scents and it doesn't really go off the green ride all the way through till the end so if you are coming from an all warm comfy zone then N°19 might not be for you since it is a cold and at times "heartless" seeming.... but I can assure you that it is all in the getting used to it... it took me years to understand the mystery of N°19. It is not an easy scent by all means and I use it rarely but it is amazing and literally royal... and then there is the factor of it being Coco's last perfume and it baring the birth date of Mademoiselle... there is a lot of poetry in this fragrance but not a lot of cozy warmth... xoxo

But my problem is that is heats up waaay too fast and I need to split my videos... even though I prefer to shoot in one session cuz I get into the right mood and then I need the camera to work with me...

The plastic box? What’s that about? Just Acquired a No.19 and the box was plastic! I have never seen this in my life, and I’ve collected several vintages. Why is there so little info on this? I thought this was fake for a time but I’m starting to change my mind after rewatching this video.
Plastic pure parfum packages and boxes were the norm for CHANEL from as early on as the seventies all the way to late 00’s.

I'd say the 28ml bottle you have dates to 1978~1979. Definitely late '70s.

It sells out quickly when it comes back in stock - I was signed up to stock alerts on the official Chanel website and ordered it the other day but it has since sold out it seems, if you are UK based Harrods sometimes has it - hope you manage to find a bottle.
Dakob, I am chasing a vintage parfum, would you consider explaining the features of your vintage boxes and bottles. Fakes have been around for a long time and it's so confusing to work out which vintage ones are fakes or not. I've read that the real bottles have VR or BR etched in them, someone else says completely the opposite and says they have HP on them. Could I be a pain and ask if your bottles have anything like this etched on them?

Are the vintage perfumes used? As I am desperate to buy myself a Vol De Nuit vintage form parfum but it's used and the fact that it has opened for such a long time,wouldn't it smell different or basically expires?
Each fragrance has an expiry date but that does not mean its dry down notes are damaged. Usually the top notes go off or turn a bit sour in older fragrances. It all depends how the perfume was stored and in how much heat it rested. It is in general tricky to purchase vintage fragrances because they can be quite off but its just the nature of the game: its a bit like poker... sometimes the cards dealt are good and sometimes they are not. When purchasing second hand perfumes online, one can never be hundred percent sure they will be good.

The little spray bottles have been discontinued many years ago. The only country that might still have them in production could be France.

Sometime ago I made a review and uploaded it at ruclips.net/video/onlYTpMCj9c/видео.html Unfortunately it´s in Brazilian Portuguese, since I was torn between my language and English... Well, anyway there it rests. I wished you somehow could see my emotions as I can see your emotions. Something that could only be rendered by Coco Chanel herself. If I can, I will make a second one in English. I don´t have the parfum version but a very old one, splash, I think it comes from the 70´s.
