    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    Things You Will Need
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    - A microSD card at least 4 GB amzn.to/36CpShC | amzn.to/3CXJngt | amzn.to/3JqyxSP
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    Download and Flash OpenWRT
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    01. Download OpenWRT for Amlogic S9xxx github.com/oph...
    - Download the image that corresponds to the Amlogic chip in your device
    03. Download Balena Etcher www.balena.io/...
    04. Run Balena Etcher
    05. Burn the OpenWRT image to microSD card
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    Configure MicroSD Card for OpenWRT
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    01. Open the readable partition of the microSD card in Explorer
    02. Edit uEnv.txt in a text editor
    03. Update the FDT line to point to the correct .dtb file for your device
    FDT=/dtb/amlogic/meson-gxm-q200.dtb
    04. Save the changes to uEnv.txt and close the text editor
    05. Safely remove the microSD card
    06. Insert microSD card to Android TV box
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    Booting OpenWRT
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    01. With an unfolded paperclip, press the reset button (sometimes hidden inside the 3.5mm AV port)
    02. While holding the reset button, plug the power adapter into the Android TV box
    03. The box should boot into the OpenWRT Linux terminal
    04. Wait for the text to stop scrolling and press Enter
    05. Run the following command to set a static LAN IP address, change the IP address to something on your LAN's subnet:
    uci set network.lan.ipaddr='192.168.0.251'
    service network restart
    06. Open a web browser and navigate to 192.168.0.251
    07. At the login screen, enter the username root and password password ≫ Click the Login button
    08. Select System ≫ Administration from the menu
    09. Under the Router Password heading, enter a new password and repeat it to confirm
    10. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Save & Apply button
    11. Enjoy OpenWRT running on a cheap Amlogic TV box

    @i12bretro I have a Nexbox A95X (S905) and the installation went very well. But unfortunately WiFi doesn't work. Could you tell me what your entries in the /etc/config/wireless file look like? That would be great!

    No emmc can be found to install the openwrt system. ( Mxq pro 4k ( 1/8 rtl 871x, p201 dtb did not run on others. ) which dtb to choose?

    My device is x96 Air. I installed openwrt also. But it does not showing radio 0 and radio 1 together in Wireless menu

    Hello, great video, it was the first that popped up for me. I have X96Max-2G/s905x2. Can I just use USB Burning Tool to flash the img or no?

    Hello! Good video instruction.
    I have a TV box on the s905x2 processor. There are four files for this processor on the git hub within one assembly. Which one to choose and what is the difference?

      They are builds for different TV boxes (github.com/ophub/amlogic-s9xxx-openwrt#openwrt-firmware-instructions). You'll have to try them to see which one works best for your specific hardware. It runs from the SD card, so there's no harm in trying each one.

      @@i12bretro Thanks for the quick answer. I'll ask a stupid question. What packages can be installed? I have a regular OpenWrt router, it has WireGuard installed, captive portal and more. So, what can be installed on it, which the router cannot handle? And another question, how to install packages? Like on the OpenWrt router from the repository, via opkg install?

      I'd assume any package that has been built for the ARM architecture can be installed. Yes, packages can be installed with opkg install or via the Luci web UI

    I have s912 tv. Box running android os6, i tried flash openwrt and armbian s912 image on sdcard, but won't boot up
    I tried change dtb (all meson-gxm-.... dtb) one by one but got no succes
    I try insert my armbian desktop s905x sdcard, its boot up but didn't running, only show the desktop, the mouse didnt work at all
    The mark of chipset is S912-B
    Any idea to solve?

    I have device S905X2 , I have tried all versions but can't boot by USB (my hardware doesn't have SD)
    If the device is locked to the bootloader, it cannot be used?

    Hey bro. I've H96MAX x3 with soc s905x3 is it possible to install? On your video it's seems like just burn the fw on sdcard. So it's mean can be dual boot? Android tv and open wrt?

      Yeah, there are builds for s905x3. And yes, by default it runs from the sd card, so you can power down, remove the sd card and power back on to return to Android

      I don't know specifically, I don't own any s905x3 devices, but seems like they should have a naming convention like sm1_s905x3.....

      I don't have a Mi Box to test on, but it runs from the SD card, so it doesn't hurt to give it a try. Let me know if you give it a go

      Make sure you set the IP address to a valid IP in your subnet, then make sure the device can reach the internet and the web interface is installed
      opkg update
      opkg install luci

    Can u connect this openwrt box to the internet? I finished installation but just can connect the box to pc to config the openwrt, when I connect this box to router, router does not recognise the box and the box has no internet as well. Could u pls provide further instruction about that (i'm new to openwrt, and also searching across the internet but found nothing useful). Thank you.

      Yes, you will likely need to set the network.lan.gateway value to your internet gateway. Here's some more info

      @@i12bretro Wow, you just save me alot of time, thank you so much. And another question, I want to use this only port to behave as Lan and Wan simultinously, if I can do that, then this box can connect to a switch, making this box as main router (or subrouter). So we can use this box as role of Rasperry pi 4 (run openwrt). So if you know how to do that, pls help, I appreciate much :)

      The github page says you can do it from the web UI: Login in to openwrt → system menu → Amlogic Service → Install OpenWrt
      I haven't tried it so I can't say how well it works or if it will cause you any trouble.

      That will depend on how well the hardware in your specific TV box is supported. I have some that get 1Gbps and others only 100 Mbps

      last week I downloaded the firmware from ophub for my device. but only detected 100mb LAN.

      I think it'll depend on the .dtb file you use and if it can detect the 1Gbps hardware. This runs from SD card, so there's no harm in trying it to see what speed you get

      I'm not sure. I didn't test on s905w. You can try the s905x build to see if it will boot ok your device

      Follow the tutorial, just downloading an image for s912. It'll take some trial and error with the 4 s912 images available to see which works best on your hardware
