@BsianTech :Operating with Apple MacBook Pro: The WD22Q only supports closed lid docking with a Dell notebook as it is a Dell on Dell feature. The MAcBook por would need to be compliant wit the most current USB PD3.0 ver 2 standard support universal power button sync to support the same dock button/Dell notebook button features. Otherwise it is a Dell on Dell feature with notebooks systems that do not support USB-IF PD Power button sync. This dock will support dual extended monitors through the DP1.4a port if the GPU is enabled to support MST (multistream transport).
You cannot drive video on the side USB3 Type-C port as it is data only providing 15W PD. It is not an MFDP port. The WD22Q has only 2 video ports on the rear HDMi2.1 that can drive an 8K if your GPU supports DP1.4a with DSC enabled. the second is a DP1.4a HBR3 port. You can daisy-chain additional display (3) through the DP port until you run out of GPU BW.
Thanks for clarifying. I wish it did support display via the USB-C. Dell support seems to think that monitor can be connected via USB-C and they offered a replacement when I said mine isn't working.
I've understood that you cannot do that with the M1 as it only supports one display over Thunderbolt. I understood that it works differently than Alt-DP, but I'm not 100% on that. DisplayLink will work as it only requires data connection + software driver, just use a high end chip from them and don't do 3D on it or similar. Fine for browsing, OK for vid and garbage for 3D. And it does use CPU and RAM as they are basically turned into a GPU.
This docking station supports USB-C laptops it doesn't provide circle Dell adapter power in to laptops, its just circle power in for powering the dock. You connect this dock to the laptop via USB-C which also does the power delivery via USB-C.
Do you hear ticking noise from your dock from the wireless charger (when not having phone on it)? I had that problem, it only goes away if i charge my phone
I have the Dell D6000 dock and it makes an audible electrical interference noise when using the USB C PD to power my laptop. Have you noticed anything like this with this dock?
In the video it says "mimic laptop's power button". In case of sleep for Windows setup it worked, but what if laptop is hibernated, will it start powering on if I press the power button on the Dock?
I´m trying to use this dock with my Lenovo Idea Pad laptop, but currently I have a problem with some functions like monitor by HDMI, USB-C port, and others, they are not working, only ports like mouse and others. ¿Is there any additional configuration that I should need to do?
I know but you never know it might be lucky that's why I test it anyway and some people don't mind the mirror but like to see what functions still can perform =).
Ah ic atm it's DP 1.4 and they haven't see manufactures move to DP 2.0 which would be able to support those crazy large resolutions and high refresh rates. So atm HDMI 2.1 is the better choice if you are in the category. Your right I do like the wireless charging function it looks nice and neat too on the desk.
@@andymuzzo8568 me too, you already have to have the dock on your desk taking space and having it to be used dual purpose is definitely awesome and functional.
@Luke Newman if you have USB speakers or headphones plugged into the dock yes you can run them through the dock and select them as audio output but if you have speakers/headphones which require 3.5mm jack then this dock doesn't unfortunately have the port for it.

Thanks @John Burr for clearing it up and hopefully this information will be useful to other viewers too.
Is there a clicking/ticking sound coming from the dock when a phone isn't on it? For me, it stops when I put my phone on it
Awesome video and very in-depth. I just discovered this thing today and I think it's so cool. Thanks for the video.

The documentation clearly states that the side USB3.2 Gen 2 Type-C is a data only.

does thisi Docking station support USB C laptop adapters or just the old Circle Power in ?

@@BsianTech very cool to see you reply to the questions...I have subscribed. thanks for the content!
I couldn’t find an audio jack there, can the usb c or the usb a’s act as one with an audio jack converter?
Is the power supply unit for the dock included in the delivery?
Yes
Great video! Is it possible for you to do a M2 Macbook Air please?
So this dock doesn't support extended mode on macs? Only mirror/duplicate? That's a bummer for me.
im having issue connecting my second monitor. Im using the display to HDMI cable but its not working. any help pls
Hey Brian. Any idea if this dock would work with Samsung Dex?
This will work with Samsung Dex, I have tried it on my S20 FE.

Mac doesn't support MST that's why the external monitors won't be extended but only mirror

@@BsianTech or just install DisplayLink
That’s almost ticks all the boxes for my new setup I’m working on.
What would be missing for you in the new setup @Andy Muzzo?
@@BsianTech just dual full size display ports. Not a big deal. Just prefer them over HDMI

Can you run your laptops audio through the dock? really considering getting one as its really powerful and practical for a little charger

@@BsianTech awesome thanks mate
@@BsianTech you can run audio headphones that support USB
Testing with an iPad and testing resume from standby needs to be included.
thanks a lot for your efforts
Just amazing content, will follow your channel ❤
Without an external vid card (e.g. DisplayLink) you won't be able to get a second screen running on an M1, period.
so difficult to understand
M1 sucks technically supports 1 4K monitor
