    You are such a master instructor Bas. I love your tutorials so much I now have a passap and a Knitax. I have knit on Japanese machines for many years but this is so much fun 🤩

    Hoyy Bas. I really like your video, and I learn all the time about 'our' knitting machine ;-) I don¨t have a ribber, so I have to use the 'fake' ribbing, but what size do you use? my guess is about a 46.....

    • @ZabbezOriginal
      @ZabbezOriginal  8 месяцев назад +3

      Fake ribbing also yields a beautiful result 👍🏻 And yes, I am knitting size 46/47 in the video. I am a tall guy with big feet so a lot of rows to knit 🤣

    Good tutorial! I didn't know the wrap wasn't needed when short rowing back out. The only sock tutorial I had previously found for this machine was

    • @ZabbezOriginal
      @ZabbezOriginal  7 месяцев назад

      Thank you very much. There are many ways to knit socks on this machine. This is just my preferred method. You can also wrap short rowing out. Or not wrap short rowing in, but only wrap short rowing out. Or don't wrap at all. All yield different results 😀

    • @ZabbezOriginal
      @ZabbezOriginal  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much! The sweater I am wearing is based on the famous Norwegian Marius sweater. But I tweaked the design to make it easier to knit on a knitting machine. It was a lot of fun to knit 😀

    I have a Brother machine from the mid-80s but haven't used it in years. i had no idea you could seam as you go. The seams looks very good.
    What kind of seam do you use to close up the back?
    This looks way faster than knitting socks by hand, although it isn't as portable. :)

    • @ZabbezOriginal
      @ZabbezOriginal  7 месяцев назад

      Haha true, it is not as portable as hand knitting 🤣 But a lot of fun! For the back seam I use the common mattress stitch, nothing special. The seam has a little bulk, but is hardly noticeable when done in the ribbing. Time to start using your mid-80s brother again maybe??? 😀

    It says a simple basic machine yet it has a ribber which most basic machines don't have

    • @sewcute_sewvintage
      @sewcute_sewvintage 8 месяцев назад +1

      True but there are lots of videos around about how to hand manipulate ribbing and it wasn't necessary for this video. It really would be better as a video all its own

    I have two of these machines, actually slightly older I think as they are the Knitking 4500 series, not the M1, and 1 ribber. they are great in that they don't need clamps or weights so a lot more portable that the newer machines.
    only thing that worries me about using them is if I break a needle or sinker as replacement parts are impossible to find (unless you find and buy a whole new machine of course)
    is there a link to the pattern you used. I think I already have one but..... can we have too many patterns? LOL

    • @ZabbezOriginal
      @ZabbezOriginal  25 дней назад

      You are right. The only thing to do is buy another machine for spare parts. But when you use your machine with love, they hardly ever break. I hope it all works out for your! 😀

    This is the BEST video I have seen for machine knitting socks! The instructions are very clear. Would this technique work on a modern machine?

    • @ZabbezOriginal
      @ZabbezOriginal  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you so much, I am happy to hear that. Yes, this technique also works on other machines as well. That is the great thing about knitting on a simple machine, you get the basics you can use on most other machines too. This technique will work on Brother/Singer/Superba/Bosch/Phildar/White etc. Will not work on the Passap however as that machine uses pushers for short rowing, but I have a different video for knitting socks on that machine 😀

      A very interesting video and machine. I found an mid-80s Knit King on Freecycle and love learning about flat bed knitting. Unfortunately, mine has no ribber but that's ok. I would like to see the "sinker" mechanism. How does it work?

    • @ZabbezOriginal
      @ZabbezOriginal  6 месяцев назад

      Without the ribber you can still knit almost everything. Great machines. I talk about this machine and the sinker mechanism in this video: ruclips.net/video/UnWodotw75A/видео.htmlsi=33JouQPpN0jm9h68

    • @ZabbezOriginal
      @ZabbezOriginal  8 месяцев назад +1

      Soms staan er meerdere tegelijk op marktplaats en soms even niet. Prijs is natuurlijk afhankelijk van hoeveel er op dat moment worden aangeboden. Zal ongeveer tussen de 50 tot 150 euro liggen. Vrienden van mij hebben er begin januari nog een op marktplaats gekocht. En ik zie dat er nu ook eentje op staat (zonder ribber). Zoek op breimachine, 11 januari, Bergambacht. En anders is het geduld hebben, maar ze worden regelmatig aangeboden.

    Hoi Bas, weer een zeer duidelijke video, dankjewel. 👍Ik heb in mijn tijd (jaren '70) veel sokken gebreid op mijn Brother, maar dat was zo ongeveer het enige wat ik er op maakte. Alleen maar heen en weer met die zware slee.... Ik heb de breimachine toen weggedaan. Maar als ik nu naar jou kijk en zoals alles met de hand gaat, dat is veel leuker om te doen. 😄

    • @ZabbezOriginal

      Wat leuk om te horen! Ja, met de hand op de machine vind ik ook heel erg leuk. Geniet daar echt van. Maar ik heb ook nog andere machines (Brother, Singer, Passap) en sommige zijn automatischer dan andere en sommige sledes ook minder zwaar. Ik vind het allemaal leuk 🤣
