Yes indeed! I almost always make a swatch. Especially when I use new to me yarn. And I was really happy I knitted the ribbing on waste yarn, otherwise it would have been a lot more work 🤣
I enjoy watching your videos, you make them very interesting. This proves why swatching is so important, and I enjoy swatching on my machines. I love your Knittax, I wish I still had mine, those sinkers are an ingenious design!
Thank you so much!! My manual is in French (as I’m in France) and I don’t think it was translated all that well and I couldn’t figure out the fair isle setting. Your video makes so much more sense! I’m going to try this next 🙂
You are great! I have a Knittax but 2 models that the factory released later. But they basically work the same. Thank you for explaining the use of the buttons so well. Greetings from Argentina
Hi, from South America, Chile, I have been knitting for years in a Knittax machine, but anyway I have learned from you some small details ( well maybe not so small) that are going to help me a lot to make my knitting with the ribber easier, and some other details not related to the ribber, though I have another more modern model of this same knitting machine, the Automatic II in an argentinian version, but quite good also! Thank you very much!!
@@ZabbezOriginal Yes! I love the knittax, my only drama is that I cannot find anybody here in Chile to help me in case I need a repair. For this reason I have been thinking how to buy a Knitking machine which is the same machine but in european version. If you have any data about it I would really appreciate it!
Thank you for this super clear video, I really enjoyed it. 🙂I have an Knittax Automatic II, but I think it will be easy to do patterning now, even on that knitting machine.
Haha ja, je kunt echt heel veel breien op zo'n oude breimachine. Je moet wel meer handmatig dingen doen, maar verder doen ze niet onder voor de modernere machines 😀
Wow, you blew my mind with the knob lifting. I did not know that my machine did that. In fact, I actually went to my machine and tested it, not expecting those knobs would lift, but they did!! I have a manual in English, and I went back a re-read the beginning - there is some reference to these knobs, and there is a number assigned, but the picture seems to be missing from the English version. I would love it if you could do another video that explains what these knobs do exactly, so that I have it clear in my head. THANK YOU!
Haha cool, thank you! Yes it can sometimes be quite the puzzle figuring out what these old knitting machines can do. They can do almost everything newer machines can, but it just requires more hand manipulation. I really enjoy both older and newer knitting machines 😀 I hope to be able to make lots of videos for my channel with all the different machines I have!
Thank you so much for your kind message. I am happy to read it. I also just discovered your channel. My French language is not so good 😜. We share the same passion for knitting machines 😀
Nice video and extremely informative!!! Could you do the same but in the PASSAP DUO 80? I just refurbished mine and want to use it more effectively, and your videos are exceptional on the teachings and clear explanations, you are an excellent instructor and show how to recover from mistakes, thanks for all that!!!
Thank you so much, it makes me really happy to read your message. I do have a video for making a hat on the Passap Duomatic 80, but not with fair isle yet. I have no Deco device installed on my knitting machine yet, but I will do it in the future one day! 👍🏻😀
Hi, love your video. I have the same machine and use it for knitting the socks. Please look up the video " my machine knitted socks" which shows Stitch as you go style. It is an easier way without any hand stitching. Greetings from Canada.
Hi Bas, after selecting every other needle at the top I can recommend you to reduce the yarn tension to reduce the gaps between the stitches. I personally use another way, I use waste yarn and after taking it off from the needles completely I hang two stitches on one needle. Doing that twice reduces the stitches a lot and it is not so bulky.
Yes thank you, totally agree. Gives a beautiful result. For this video I kept it super simple, but maybe for a future video I will do some other techniques 😀
Lijkt me best bijzonder 😘
I love your videos! They are so clear and easy to understand. Did you make your sweater that you wear in the videos? If so it's very beautiful, I have a knit king without the ribber, so I knit the ribbing by hand. I look forward to your videos. All the best from Idaho in the US.
Thank you so much! Yes I have knitted the sweater I am wearing myself, thank you for noticing 😀 These knittax/knitking machines are awesome. Do you find knitting ribbing by hand a better option than latching up the rib? I am very curious 😀
Thank you! You inspirered me to pull out my knitting machine again. It's a 1950ish Präzisa brand, there seem to be not many out there any more. But it works just like the Knittax brand, and I think I finally got how the knobs work! Which yarn does work best on your machine? I tried sock wool and a 4ply cotton so far, but they seem to be to thik. Greetings from Germany!
That is great news, I am happy to hear that. The yarn I am using in this video is on the thicker side, but works because it has a little stretch. Cotton is always difficult because it has no stretch. So for a beginner it is not a good idea to use cotton. I think that the easiest for starters on this machine is a thin 4 ply sock wool blend: 75% wool/25% polyamide, 50gram, 210meter. It has a little stretch. Of course you can also use thinner yarn. If it is difficult to knit, it can also be because your machine needs some cleaning and a little oil. Good luck! 👍🏻😀
I have a knittax as well but a model that is a bit more modern with automatic yarn feeding. It is not that easy to knitt and I had to start again over and over. But I knitted my first pullover in the end🎉
This really shows how important it is to do a swatch test!
And watching your problem solving is very educational!
Yes indeed! I almost always make a swatch. Especially when I use new to me yarn. And I was really happy I knitted the ribbing on waste yarn, otherwise it would have been a lot more work 🤣
What a beautiful experience that there is no need to use electricity to create pretty things. I like your way of making videos. Thank you.😊
Thank you so much, I am happy to hear that. No electricity needed and it is a lot of fun knitting on these machines 😀
I enjoy watching your videos, you make them very interesting. This proves why swatching is so important, and I enjoy swatching on my machines. I love your Knittax, I wish I still had mine, those sinkers are an ingenious design!
Thank you so much! I almost always make a swatch. Especially when I use new to me yarn. And wash it. Takes an extra day, but well worth the effort 😁👍🏻
Thank you so much!! My manual is in French (as I’m in France) and I don’t think it was translated all that well and I couldn’t figure out the fair isle setting. Your video makes so much more sense! I’m going to try this next 🙂
I am very happy I can help, and yes, wrong translations were quite common back then. I have it also in my Dutch manual 🤣🤣🤣

Thank you! Knittax made some beautiful machines that can knit beautiful garments 😀

Super cool, what an accomplishment. I really like the selection tool.
Thank you so much 😀 Yeah, the selection tool is great! It saves a lot of work compared to selecting every needle by hand 🤣
I learn a lot from your channel, I have subscribed ❤❤.
Keep going🎉

Goed idee om ook de fout in de video te laten. Daar leren we veel van bij ! Dank je !
Dank je wel! En ja fouten maken we allemaal, dat hoort er gewoon bij. Zo leren we 😀👍🏻

Very nice 🤩
