@@delsmontgomery i used to only recommend kobo for Canadians. but now that kindle supports .epub files I’d say that the Kindle is definitely a great option if you have a lot of books on your computer or you’re already ingrained into the amazon ecosystem. I also like that the kindle also has a “send-to-kindle via email” which gives it a leg up over the kobo. But the kobo is good for Canadians cause it’s the one brand of devices that lets you borrow books from the library. So you can’t really go wrong with either. We have both and really just pick the one that’s closer lol
lol i dunno how i misread your question But if i was in the states I’d probably get the kobo cause i think it’s cheaper than the kindle without ads. But i could be easily swayed over if whispersync works between audible and the kindle cause i use audible alot (it doesn’t sync between audible and the kindle in Canada). So if that works then hands down kindle. Otherwise they’re both great devices
I absolutely love my Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition! Definitely one of my favorite possessions and it goes with me every where I go! It was worth every penny I paid for it and then some!
I think I have an older model, but I'm thankful for it! I still prefer to read physical books. I find it a bit harder to concentrate and retain what I've read when I read on the Kindle. But for books that I'm rereading, reading my Bible, etc., it's fantastic. I had a Kindle Fire for a while. I know nothing about the tech aspects, but the glare on that was so bad that it was physically painful. Even more than staring at a phone. I ended up giving it to someone who could better use it. I was skeptical, but the Paperwhite doesn't hurt my eyes at all! I'm very thankful that I was able to get one while I had a bit extra $. Finances are a struggle for me, so I can't afford such things very often. At this point, I am trying hard to move away from Amazon. I do not like their business practices. I worry about them deleting material that they don't like. Unless things have changed, they still have control over all your books, even though you "buy" them. If they decide something is not politically correct enough, they could make it all go POOF! But I have so much already loaded on my Kindle that it'll last me probably the rest of my life.
Ya I've only had Kobos because I liked that they were more open. But it was really the comments in my last video that ppl brought up kindles and amazon recent support for EPUB that made me just want to check it out your old kindle should deff hold up but if you did want to try out a new device check out the kobo cause its pretty awesome too
The ten week battery life is with the Brightness set at 13 and the Kindle in use for 30 minutes per day. Who would want the screen so dull and only reads for half an hour ? The Kindle 11 uses e-ink which is easy to read iin full sunlight, it has 300ppi which is very much like reading a 'real' book whereas the older models used 167ppi and were not as adjustable as this version. With 8Gb of storage it will hold several thpusand books, an average book is around 2 to 4 Mb in size so you can have a whole library in your pocket, how much shelf space would you need for say 5000 paperbacks?
Hi! Are you able to scroll on Kindle or just turn the page? I love that feature when reading on the Kindle app on my phone, but the lighting is killing me! Thank you 😊
How I wish there will be better technology to prevent illegal copying of ebooks so that all publishers/authors will make them all available in ebook formats. It is quite frustrating that some authors still prefers to have physical books format only due to the piracy/copyright issue.
lol yes and no 4:50 the most seamless way to add books: 1. is off Amazon (Kindle/Everything) 2. send to kindle via email (PC/Mobile) 3. third party apps (PC)
The paperwhites are basically the same. only like 4 differences to upgrade to the signature: - 32gb (instead of 8) - wireless charging - automatic light adjust - no ads (for the usa, canada has no ads in any)
Damn that sucks that the adverts are that prominent. i was so confused when i was doing research for this video cause im in canada and we only have the ad-free version. Im pretty sure you can purchase to get rid of the ads even after you get the device but i couldn’t test that out for the video. I think it’s in account >devices or something but i dunno how much it cost. Hopefully not more than $20. If u do it lmk cause im just curious too
im contemplating on getting myself a kindle bcs the UI seems not very user friendly? like its laggy and not as smooth as reading on normal devices. can other kindle owners clarify on whether the interface is that laggy/buggy/slow and is it easy for you to get adapted to it?
lol i actually prefer a screen protector but i kept one off cause when i did the kobo Clara hd review ppl thought the device was glossy and reflective. So im not using one for the kindle Review so you can see the real glare free screen
Wow, I didn't even think of a screen protector for the Kindle! I have mine in a hard case and then I have the case inside a cloth sleeve. I don't have kids or pets and I don't go out much anyway. Unless I get hit by a truck, it should be good.
@@dylankyang I didn’t think I needed a screen protector for my 4th paperwhite and one day, I noticed a tiny scratch. It’s tiny in length but deep enough to where the eraser trick or the tooth paste trick didn’t work at all. I guess it’s not a big deal for reading experience because it’s tiny, except for guilt I feel for not protecting it and it bothered me so much that I hated reading on it. So I bought the newest model on prime day and it’s fully protected. There’s a number of matte protectors sold on Amazon and I bought one of those. I can even feel/see the difference between with or without. I thought I wrote this just to save you from future regrets :p

Love this video - anything that gets more people to use ereaders is awesome! But honestly if you're in Canada, kobo can't be beat!

That’s awesome to hear!
I like the way the kindle deals with the notes and highlights too. It’s a lot easy to review books after you finish reading them

Kindle unlimited is like netflix for books and a separate subscription, while prime reading is just selected books and is included with your prime.
Thank you for this.
I think i’m convinced to get mine now. ☺️
The audible syncing is available on the signature version, not the basic
