Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC since November 23rd, 1963. The programme depicts the adventures of a Time Lord called "The Doctor", an extraterrestrial being, appearing to be human. The Doctor explores the universe in a time-travelling space ship called the TARDIS. Its exterior appears as a blue British metropolitan police box, which was a common sight in Britain in the 1960’s when the series first aired. Accompanied by a number of companions, the Doctor combats a variety of foes like the Daleks and Cybermen while working to save civilisations and save people in need.
Beginning with William Hartnell, over fifteen actors have headlined the series as the Doctor. The transition from one actor to another is written into the plot of the show with the concept of regeneration into a new incarnation and body, a plot device in which a Timelord "transforms" into a new body when the current one is too badly harmed to heal normally.
A series of special episodes of the British science fiction television programme Doctor Who will air to celebrate the programme's 60th anniversary. The episodes are written by Russell T Davies, and will be broadcast on BBC One in November 2023, preceding the following fourteenth series. David Tennant will appear as the Fourteenth Doctor before Ncuti Gatwa takes over as the Fifteenth Doctor. Catherine Tate and Bernard Cribbins will be returning to the show in the 2023 specials. The three specials are directed by Rachel Talalay, Tom Kingsley and Chanya Button respectively. Filming moved from Roath Lock Studios to Bad Wolf Studios once Bad Wolf became a co-producer of the series; filming commenced in May 2022, and was completed. Disney has partnered with the BBC and Doctor Who to have Dr Who stream on Disney’s platform, Disney Plus. Disney+ will allow people from many different countries to watch Doctor Who at the same time as the UK. Disney have also given Doctor Who a larger budget meaning the episodes will have better quality and Doctor Who’s CGI will have the same effects as a movie.
Yasmin Finney joined the cast for the anniversary, to portray a character named Rose. Bernard Cribbins, Jacqueline King and Karl Collins are also set to return as Wilfred Mott, Sylvia Noble and Shaun Temple, respectively. Jemma Redgrave is also returning to her role as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart in Series 14, after her appearance in The Power Of The Doctor as the head of UNIT. On 13 June 2022, Davies announced that Neil Patrick Harris would be joining the cast, playing an undisclosed role that is rumoured to be the return of The Celestial Toymaker.
Ncuti Gatwa had previously been announced as Jodie Whittaker's successor after David Tennant reprises his role as the doctor in the 60th anniversary specials as the programme's lead, and many reports stated he would play the Fourteenth Doctor and that Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor would regenerate into an incarnation portrayed by Gatwa. Upon Jodie Whittaker's final appearance as the character in The Power Of The Doctor, she instead regenerated into a form similar to the Tenth Doctor. This character, portrayed by Tennant, was confirmed to be the Fourteenth Doctor, with later clarification that Ncuti Gatwa would actually portray the Fifteenth Doctor. Ncuti Gatwa’s 15th doctor has also had his companion announced as Millie Gibson playing Ruby Sunday live on Children In Need.
On 24 September 2021, the BBC announced Russell T Davies would return to Doctor Who as showrunner, after having previously acted as showrunner from 2005-2010 for the Ninth and Tenth Doctors. He will succeed Chibnall for the show's 60th anniversary in 2023 and beyond. Davies will be joined by the Bad Wolf production company, which was founded by former Doctor Who executive producer Julie Gardner and former BBC head of drama Jane Tranter. In October 2021, it was announced that Sony would acquire a majority of Bad Wolf. Bad Wolf also took over creative control of Doctor Who beginning with the specials, allowing the BBC to focus on establishing Doctor Who as a global brand. The new era of Doctor Who is being labelled as RTD2 as it is Russel’s second era of Doctor Who.

@@VanderzzWho I saw that the "2023 Tardis" mod appeared, I downloaded it to see but it's not ready because the interior of the tardis has nothing inside and an "error" appears
This episode was a refresher, I really liked the concept, stuck there at the edge of nothingness with those impostors, good horror
I'll be vague to avoid spoilers, but overall really liked it. Definitely better than the Starbeast that's for sure, and for good reason.
And seeing Wilf... that might've been the closest I've come to tears this whole year

Yeah this episode has really gotten me excited and when we saw wilf I genuinely was about to cry as they kept mentioning him last episode and at the beginning of this one, I really hope they managed to film everything they wanted with him

Really my biggest curiosity is the personality of Ncuti's doctor. Is he going to have , that fire that terrifies Monsters and Saints alike.
He has said that his doctor is "very human and full of hope" which leaves more questions than answers for me lmao

Yeah it was a nice link to the beginning and now I think about it, that song could have something to do with the jukebox from the Ncuti Gatwa TARDIS
Ive been told this is a huge nit pick but I think that when The Dr takes the wrong Donna it should've been intentional. It feels like there was a missing scene where The Dr interogates the entity to learn more about them and then comes back to save donna just before the explosion gets to her. IDK maybe I'm asking too much but it felt like that was missing.
I didn't really feel that but it would have been cool, although I personally think the dr made a 50/50 on who is real and started to analysis if the one he picked up is real hence why it took him a bit to figure it out but I think that your idea would have been better if there was time for it
@@VanderzzWho I do like your idea of the analysis only starting once The Nothing is in the Tardis, it gives The Dr an unspoken moment to flex their intelligence. Thinking deeper about my suggestion it paints The Dr as egotistical to think he has ultimate power over the situation and that might not be who they want The Dr to be anymore.
There also could have been a whole episode about The Dr and The Nothing (using Donna's memories) fighting for power over the tardis so it could be that they didn't want to open that door. Now I'm thinking about it and really want that episode lmao

@@VanderzzWhoit may just be to show that time is actually being changed, usually they can just" walk around like they own the place" (as the 10th said.) and there are rarely any effects on the timeline.

my first doctor was david tennant as number 10 but I didnt start really getting into it until matt smith and he still remains my favourite doctor to this day
