6:04 A little bit late, but it's from An Adventure in Space and Time, when the First Doctor's TARDIS interior was revealed, with William Hartnell saying "Too bloody big." Iconic. 7:44 No, it's from The Edge of Destruction.
Someone has told me about the music already, i have no clue how i forgot that because its such a good scene. But thanks for telling me about the space image, I knew I recognised it lmao
The song plays in an adventure in space and time and If I recall it played twice. Once when William came on set in the opening and again when verity got the interior design from the art department and transitions to the actual set.
The "big light thing" is the artron bank, it basically recycles unused artron energy from the console and circles it back through the system so it's not wasted, it can also be lowered during a regeneration to feed artron energy into the control room to help a timelord regenerate easier
can always trust on you to let me know about these things lmao, thanks for sharing! These little nuggets of info are very cool and useful to me especially seeming no one else never comments this stuff before you lol
The red reskin of the exterior exists because the real police boxes were occasionally painted red for some reason Also the entry song is taken from the tardis reveal in an adventure in space and time
Yeah I didn't really think about the red boxes (which I believe were for figherfighters iirc) but the creator has said since that it's based off the audio story "Rose Tyler: Dimension Canon" And thanks for letting me know about the music, I can't believe I forgot about it because it's from such a good scene
Dude, this is really well made, oh my lord! I've always wanted to create my own Tardis addon, but I just don't know how, super jealous man! Great review, great Tardis!
Why the Console room is Beige: So, black and white TV show sets were often painted beige or shades of grey because these colours provided better contrast and depth on black-and-white film or television. Here's a more detailed explanation: 1) Contrast and Depth: Different shades of beige and gray helped create a more realistic sense of depth and contrast on black-and-white screens. Pure black and white colors could appear too stark and flat, so using a range of neutral tones helped to create visual distinctions between different objects and set pieces. 2) Lighting: Beige and gray tones reflected light in a way that was easier to control on set. These colors could be lit to appear darker or lighter depending on the needs of the scene, giving directors and cinematographers more flexibility in creating the desired visual effect. 3) Camera Technology: Early camera technology had limitations in how it captured colors. Beige and gray tones tended to convert to more pleasing shades of gray on black-and-white film, whereas some colors could appear too dark or too light when captured. 4) Wardrobe and Makeup: Actors' clothing and makeup also had to be considered. Certain colors of makeup and fabric would not appear correctly on black-and-white film. Using neutral tones for the set ensured that the actors and their costumes stood out appropriately without clashing with the background. By using beige and other neutral tones, production designers could ensure that sets looked visually appealing and realistic when broadcast in black and white.
Woah, thanks for sharing this. There's always these sorts of things that I don't know about so you sharing this is really helpful so thank you for that!
I like to have all the pilot options with the type 40 Exterior For some pre unearthly child vibes Also, that little cubby in the Is lounge area is the wardrobe
I wonder if the red exterior is either a reference to other police boxes in real life or the fact that certain things would look darker in black and white when red, as there was many thoughts about one of the black daleks in either invasion of earth or the chase in fact being a red Dalek but the filming obviously showed it as black
You did get red police boxes. Even the blue ones had red flashing lamps! Ah! That edge of destruction hum is familiar because they used it in the Three Doctors with Hartnell in the time eddy. I never realised before. “I seem to be stuck up here”
Yeah, so far it's great I think its just the controls and vortex left of the top of my head to hopefully it will be done soon and I can get my review out
Doing some investigating the pilot light poles I don’t think we’re ever used but we’re drawn up or something. Found an image that showed them with the grounded canopy.
Had to revise as from watching the video as well the grounded canopy is what the middle part was next to the light poles. Saved the image I’ll send it in the shipyard
The paint wasn't 'rushed' - it was deliberate. In the pilot episode the TARDIS exterior is very clean and looks out of place in a junkyard, so they roughed up the texture and paintwork for the reshoot of episode one. Whoever made the mod did a great job here - the frame around the door sign is a lighter blue than the box because it was originally white and was painted over. Good attention to small details. The lock sticks out because it was removable. I'm guessing that the issue with the roof is due to smoothing groups on the 3D model. If the four sections are assigned to a different smoothing group, it should give you that clear definition.
This is a great review! I gotta ask, do you also have really bad Performance drops when using this mod? before installing it I averaged 340-380 FPS on a 3060 but now I struggle to reach 70 fps.
It lowers my performance by about 10 fps so it’s not really that noticeable although I have seen many people saying that it lags their game and there’s not really anything you can do except use the low lamps version I guess
@RykerTC1 Every TARDIS drops fps to between 150 - 60 fps (60 on the more intensive side for more detailed interiors like mine, 2005, 2010, etc.) At this point, with all of the optimizations I've attempted, I can only chalk it up to Source being Source. 20 year old engines are shit lmao. Also as a side note, Gmod caps fps at 300, so there's also that.
You don’t need an extra add on but it sounds like your not running gmod on the x64 branch, if you search how to do that online and check it should have all textures and actually run smoother
Been wondering this for a while and can't finding it in the settings anywhere but does anyone know how to you have it so the labels for each control show up automatically? please if anyone has this knowlege I would be eternally grateful!

@PhantomOfTheNight yeah unfortunately you might, although new addons are really high quality and full of detail it does just mean that they become a bit laggy which is annoying especially for those with lower end PCs
