- my friends know I'm a very indecisive person, so I'm enlisting my subscribers to make a decision that I can't make myself 😈. it's a win-win: I get the video out confidently, and you all get to vote! everyone likes voting on things, right? if you had a Wii you might remember the Everybody Votes channel; I went on there almost every day as a kid lmao. could you call that my first online multiplayer experience?
I'm no essay youtuber, but I do have a microphone for that tutorial I keep saying I'm gonna do but keep delaying... I have the script all typed up but the editing is gonna be like nothing I've ever done before. I promise I'll do it 😭

The first definitely sounds fuller, because the piece was arranged with it in mind, meanwhile I feel the second might work better if some notes were dropped an octave, or if it was backed by another instrument. I don't think the restoration process really calls for that though, so probably the first :)!
I'd say option 1. It's more faithful and it just... sounds better too?
Absolutely the first one. It sounds much more artificial, to be sure, but that artificiality is part of what gives old game soundtracks their distinctive flair. The second one sounds more realistic, but it doesn't sound "right".
option 1, it gives more of a classic feel gotta choose 1
option 1. shit like option 2 is why i fucking hate 90% of "restorations"
The 2nd one feels much more like a stock midi noise, and the 1st one feels much more stylized and unique
Hmm, as much as I love how the brass sounds in full (I just love that roland brass) I think the first is what more people are familiar with tonally, so I'd upload that one. Either way, I'm really excited to hear how this one turns out!! >:D
The second sounds too much like the SC-55 general midi brass section instrument, and would begin to make it sound too DOOM-y.
Gotta be option 1; it has that classic vibe we’re all used to
1st. Not b/c of whichever sounds good, but if you're doing a full-on "Restoration", from what I heard from people who do it professionally; you don't just slap on more words/colors/sounds/scenes/data/mechanics to media without a very good reason. Like if more sounds were the music guy's explicit intent but data limitations got in the way of that.
I think the first one sounds the best. They second one is not bad but it sounds a little off, it definitely needs tweaking if you end choosing it over the first option.
I've had sort of a similar situation while making a mostly faithful remix of King Dedede's theme from Kirby Super Star (which I need to get around applying effects to since it's been at least a year since I've worked on it). However, I decided to use the one sample that was compressed in the game for it.
Yeah, I think option 1 is the best for this remix you're making. I can't wait to see it when it does get published!
Option one sounds more faithful to the era, option two sounds more modern like Wii era
Definitely the first one. As some others have said it fits better and also it was designed with that sound in mind, so it makes sense
I like Option 1. The tinnier sample fits with the boss theme better.
I'd say Option 2. It has a bright punch that'll make it stand out!
Option 2 would be better for a remake of the og song for a 64 boss appearing in a new Kirby game
I like the first one more, though the second is pretty good. I don't know a lot about music, but I do know that they're playing two sets of notes at once, right? The melody and the harmony? If the melody was a bit louder on the first one, it would be even better... at least, I think.
Use option 1 PLEASE
ALSO I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!!!!
i like the first one for sure. glad the second one will also get to be uploaded though im curious what itd sound like in the full version with full mixing
i agree that option 1 is the better one.
option 2 sounds more like a fanfare to me
I prefer the first, love your content!
I like 1, it just sounds more stylized imo
i like the first one aswell
full orchestral is fine and dandy but intentionally NOT trying to be realistic goes a very long way aswell
I'd say the first modified sample is definitely fuller. I do enjoy the full patch, but it lacks the fuller sound it feels
the second one is literally the roland sc-55 brass in higher quality than the sc-88
I would think about the first option, so that it preserves the original essence, becasue the other sound is too new, more for a arrange or a remaster¿
Is taking over the halberd kirby 64 soundfont coming soon
I like the second option more. Sounds less muddy
Option 1 definitely
I think i also vote for option 1. As someone who has listened to the boss theme thousands of times, option 2 feels so incorrect.
Option 1. Faithfulness is always key
Honestly I think they both sound great, but option 1 is a bit more faithful sounding, option 2 sounds like it’s missing something
The first one (which i assume is an sc55) is way better. The other one sounds kinda more like super star?
I really like the first option, ofc in terms of quality it looks better, but , restoration speaking, the option 2 the difference between is not shocking
i like the second one !!! also i love the stuff you post ! ^w^
I'm late and the comments are already overwhelmingly in favor of option 1, but I'll also throw my hat to the option 1 group. I actually thought the original instrument was a synth of sorts, so hearing it in actual brass throws me off a good bit
Option 1 sounds better and closer to the original iml
Like many others, I'm also thinking option 1
Option 1 seems like the better pick.
Personally, I would go with option 1.
I think the first one would be better. It's what a restoration is supposed to be, isn't it?
Can I request a restoration? I would really like a restoration of dark nebula's song, if that's possible. Are you unable to rip the midi data from the game?
personally i think option 1 is better
the other one sounds a bit too high pitched imo
use the first one
Option 2 FTW
Option one, keep it simple
Option 1-eroni and cheese 👌
I like 1 more, 2 sounds too soft specially for the boss theme
In my opinion it's option 1
i like second option more
i much prefer the first option
