As clinical a tie-break as possible from Del Potro. That double fault from Federer at the very beginning was all that was needed. Roger was caught out by the wave of momentum and support that the Argentine had built by that stage of the match. It was one of the rare instances when the crowd was not completely behind the Swiss and he felt it too. The argument in the middle of the tie-break is proof of that. It is very unlikely Roger would have taken a big issue with that if he had been in total control of the match. It was very similar in the second set tie-break too. I think Delpo had just one mini-break and held onto it.
Taking nothing away from del potro, but rf let way too many grandslam slip away imo. This is one of them, another is 08 wimby, 19 wimby, obviously the two uso semi finals he had 2 match points on djokovic as well.
I agree with all except Wimbledon 2008. That one he should’ve lost in 3. I think nadal let him back him in. So I think he got lucky he made to it the 5th set.
you're right, Federer played shockingly bad for 2 and a half sets and got incredibly lucky that Nadal got nervous with the winning line in sight otherwise it would have been straight sets. @@KAH-
The only match in Federers career where he gifted the match to opponent. Break point conversion was dismal. Lost the 2nd set just because of his obsession of getting to play the drop shot with perfection. That game in 2nd set serving fir the set lost because of this overconfidence when he was on top of the rally the whole game and chose the wrong shot each time to finish the point. US open after 2008 was the most difficult ones for Fed fans like us with too many heartbreaks where Fed lost many matches he should have won and lost having matchpoints
Delpo deserved the win but i think we can all agree Federer allowed Delpo to get into the match and once he got his arm going he outplayed Roger @@balsamicvinegar4454
To think Federer served for the second set at 6-3 5-4 30-0, and had points for a double break in that set.
Delpo’s crowning moment 👑
Like Djokovic vs Alcaraz,
6-1 6-6 (3 - 0) at Wimbledon
He just messed that 2nd set.. however had opportunity to close in 4th set.. after that it was too late

Plus 2009 Aussie

Have a look on the 2015 one ^^
Unfortunate how Federer fans cannot seem to give his opponents any credit. There were two people swinging a racket in this match, eh?

The worst crowd ever
I blame the umpire, too. He sits there & says nothing; how hard it is to say "Quiet, please."???
Wowh Mükemmel
Del potro tiene el martillo de Thor ✨
so sad.. il would have won this match.. 4 finale in a row in 2009
