Currently weigh about 270 lbs, and my fit weight is 240 lbs when I ain't fat as hell. But I did compete in the USAPL placing top 10 twice in the 110 KG division with totals around 700 KG RAW. Almost everyone who gets to that elite level has a real passion for technique, and teaching it to others so they don't hurt themselves. Almost nobody in the top 10 gets injured in a gym. Injury means you did too much or did the reps incorrectly. And If you're injured, you're not able to train, and you get weaker. Thus, it's better not to risk it in the first place until money is on the line. That's why Pro Powerlifters like Russell are so damn passionate and safe. I'm not even near his level, but I'm the same way. Russel hit 1800 lbs total RAW in a meet. He only weighs 181-200 lbs at best. I was 2 classes and 50lbs above him, yet my totals never topped 1600 RAW. This man is a Beast I never even had a chance of being. That's the difference in a normal elite lifter, and a world champion.

Thank you for proving once again that deadlifts CAN be lowered to the floor under control. In this case, 725+ lbs! I know, the debate rages on that you must drop the bar, make a lot of noise, and put unnecessary wear and tear on equipment. Those were very impressive deadlifts!
It’s honestly really impressive. I don’t have to make the very grunts or noises but i find it damn near impossible to set the bar down gently after maxing.

I've belonged to two pretty hardcore gyms - one with a couple world-class bodybuilders (one of those post-career but still) as regulars. Not as much powerlifting but still some very strong people. And the reaction to this would have been very different - anyone doing four plates/side on free weights would attract a lot of looks. And clapping after five or six plates. Eight plates? The gym would have stopped.
I'm a powerlifter as well, but not anywhere near 765 (yet). I work out at a commercial gym because the local indi gym owner is a . Re chalk, they don't mind chalk as long as you aren't a jerk about it. They want to keep the gym clean, and have multiple scheduled cleaning times each day. So if you make a mess you will piss off the employees because they have to clean it up. If you just put chalk on your hands and don't leave chalk dust everywhere they don't mind. If I get dust on the floor, bar or plates I'll clean it up after I'm done. I think the gym employees appreciate it, which is why they don't bother me about it. Its all about respect, IMO.
Wouldn’t it just make you wanna be better? Whenever I see someone lifting a crazy amount on bench, dead, squat I respect their grind and am inspired to get to that level
Ha ! that is so true on the grip for commercial gym bars. Depending on the gyms, you might get lucky and have a spanking new bar with a little grip. 495 my grip goes to crap. I struggle to get myself to 585.
