Okay but what if I use bass boosted songs with the gain set at -10db test tone. My amp has a clip indicator light. Does the audio signal affect the power signal?
if your amp and audio source is not clipping but your using a sub that cant handle too much power the sub will resonate at high power causing harmonic distortion like in the video
I'm currently pushing 1200 rms through a kicker comp Q (rated 850). It's not as loud, but it plays every note nice, you can make it sound how you want nicely with the EQ. We'll see how long it goes! My gain is like 1 cunthair on the amp. Just touch the cone every now and then, give it a smell test. If it smells turn it up some more! Just kidding.

Hi Dear Chris, I used your video as a sample of clipping in my video here ruclips.net/video/D_TWDahrEzQ/видео.html (Starts around 02:50), I linked to your original with a card and in description text. Please let me know if this concerns you, or you let me use as is. Thank you :-).
can happen for many reasons. You're sending a clipped signal from a radio that has clipping/distortion at a certain high volume and above. It can be that you aren't supplying enough power, which is causing clipping on the amp its self I believe. there are a few things that can cause distortion, or clipping. Both of which you want to avoid.
@@andyflow180 1:Never run your stereo above 70-75% (Anything above that usually starts to introduce clipping/distortion) 2:ALWAYS keep your BASS setting (EQ) on your head unit to the middle, which means keep it flat and don't increase bass with the head unit. you want as clean of a signal as possible, to the amp. Adjusut the gains on the amp to get the bass you want. if it isn't enough? means you lack power, or your amp isn't powerful enough/speaker. 3:Play high quality tracks. Don't play the radio, it's terrible and distorted by nature. Tru to use a high quality streaming service. if you have series XM that can be ok to use. Just not regular radio. 4:NEVER use bass boost. Or EQ boost ect on amps. It is the quicket way to smoke a sub. 5:Just buy a scar audio subwoofer that's already in a box from them. that waay you know they have the correct, and necessary air volume and space to function properly, as insufficient, or too much air volume can cause clipping or bottoming out. And it'll play at the correct tunning it is designed for, or very close. 6:SET YOUR GAINS CORRECTLY. ONLY LOOK AT WHAT THE SUBWOOFER SAYS ITS *"RMS*" WATTAGE IS. Do not pay attention to the watts, or max watts. If the subwoofer in the description says 600 watts RMS, get an 800 watt amp. Go like 200-400 more watts above the RMS so you ain't pushing the amp to its max causing, you guessed it, clipping!! and distortion. Also it's important to make sure you are running the Subwoofer at it's RMS instead of max. Or about 10-15% above it's RMS. this way you never have to worry about clipping or blowing the speaker. It'll work nicely, and all the time. 7:Use big wire. 4 gauge is good enough. If you want to go above 1500watts, get zero gauge wire. Make sure it says "OFC" wire, do NOT buy copper clad aluminum(CCA) 8:If you have to use a line out converter, make sure you increase the gains ON the line out converter its self. To send the proper amps/voltage to the amp (lol) The more powerful the signal being sent to the amp, the less YOU need to increase the GAIN on the AMP its self, which will refuce heat, power usage, andyou GOT IT! clipping/distortion . 9:Set the "HPF" (high pass filter) on the amp to about 10 oclock. So turn the thingy to the middle, then back to the left just a little bit. this will make sure it doesn't play above 60-70htz. You don't want your subwoofer trying to play MIDs lol 10:If your LIGHTS dim at all, at night, while playing bass? Get a second BATTERY AGM, make sure it is an AGM battery. watch youtube on how to install correctly, it's not hard. that'll fix it. Most likely. tHIS IS PRETTY much alls you need to know really. Enjoy.

Your fine and your amp is under powered for those two subs. Do the math 750x2=1500watts 1500 does not equal 1200 so your ok but don’t raise the gains high expecting to push more power to the subs it’s not how that works.

You will probaly be fine with most home subs could just be a electrical hum
Just so you know i use this video as a reference when teaching people about clipping.
If your receiver has a Subwoofer Trim and/or Subwoofer Gain setting, try turning them down.
Good quick demo , and thats why Rms power is just a reference number and u can usually push subs way past there Rms as long as its clean
Wont that ruin the coils quicker?

Just because you don't hear the clipping doesn't mean its not clipping, turn the gain down it doesn't need to be maxed out.

4 ohms is twice the resistance as 2 ohms. So typically keeping it at 2 ohm will get better more efficient power.
If watts are equal run the higher ohm load for way better cone control resulting in more accurate sound quality for sure!
This is the most annoying thing
Thanks that was useful for me
Is this a class d amp?
What is the fault here then??? The amplifier or the sub
