This is the only video I could find someone doing this to st augustine. My lawn is very thick with thatch. Did you have any issues after using this tool?
First things first is to water it a lot. Don't let it dry out. If you have some of the clippings left, maybe spread them around. This will act a shade to the soil. It like thatch, and grass needs some thatch to stay shaded from the sun. Most grass is pretty resilient even if he scalped it. A lot of people will scalp the grass on purpose, but this is during the early growing season, not middle of summer. Right now it needs a lot of water. It should grow back. Maybe a little bit of fertilizer with potassium to help root growth. But more than anything you need a lot of water. Don't walk on it too much either. Water water water!!!! Keep me posted!
Did my front yard not sure what setting it was but took forever some spots got that double 0 😂 live and learn we good though alot of rain coming this week in Central TX bagged 2 big 42 gal trash bags of dead grass though
How did you fix the clip behind the start button? I've got the same problem with mine, pulled it out after a year of non-use and I can't get it to start. So I opened up the handle and found that the clip was broken. Called Greenworks but they said I will have to replace the entire top handle.
mine was a simple fix because the wire was loose. I opened up the little housing where the button is and it was obvious. Yours might be a little trickier. Should be an easy fix if it was stored properly. I will say these are super durable for some reason. I left mine outdoors, not covered, no protection from any elements. I just used it this weekend for 3 different yards. no issues. try to open it up and make sure everything is connected. if not, the motor might be fried.
Have you seen the newer one that greenworks makes with a bag. It’s a couple years old but it’s suppose to be really good. Do you have a review with that one and what do you think about it?
Use mulching blades and bag it at the end if you’re worried about not getting all of it. That will make the residual small enough to be good food for the lawn.
Yes but it won't collect all of them. Some of the clippings are a little buried under the grass. Now if you rake it first you can probably run the mower over the piles of clippings if you have a mulch bag on the mower. But just mowing right after you thatch and hoping you can collect the clippings, maybe won't work too well but it will collect some... give it a shot.
@@gradyrogers6707 Good! Now water it a lot and fertilize accordingly. I would say next step is to aerate, but i understand thats not always feasible for everyone.
Don’t use a rake at the end! Just mow and bag it!
So are you saying you dethach first, then mow?

no issues. St. Augustine is very durable. just make sure you dont scalp the yard. some thatch is good, just dont go too deep...
Hi - We ruin our lawn today using it. ☹️😫 I think my son raked the lawn as I see the soil… How can we fix it? 😔

Nice! Yea it should be ok. Even the "scalping" doesn't take the roots away. It'll be ok.

thats good info there!!
Nice video dude. Was helpful as I have the same unit (not from the trash, though ;)
Nice! it works very well! no issues for me, even with St.Augustine grass...
@ForeMoney I kept letting it die because I didn't know how to turn it properly until I saw your vid. You saved me probably 20 minutes +. Thank you!
@@peterhamel2927 Nice! Glad that helped!!!!
Where in trash did you pick up from? Lol! I might need a leveler rake hahah!
Lol. Just driving around random neighborhoods. Crazy what people throw away.
How many times do you go over your lawn with the dethatcher? Once? Twice?
twice at most. just keep an eye and dont scalp it. really depends how low the tines are when you set it.
Can you run the lawnmower over it after to pick the grass up?

Thanks for sharing👍
Thanks for watching. Its a cool little machine.
thank you for telling us what height setting you used.
yup, for sure!
How does it work with leaves in the grass?
We need to use that at the 20202!
And fertilizer, aerator, New sod... etc.
I just bought one
NIce! Good luck!
@@ForeMoney , wow, I'm impressed. I had a lot of thatch removed.
