Last year I purchased a New 2022 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium. Should I have waited and bought a new Sequoia TRD, wait for the 2024 Land Cruiser, or look at the Tundra?

I pre-ordered a 2024 5th gen 4Runner about a month ago and I am sticking with it. I like the V6 and I work from home so the bad gas mileage is not that big of a factor for me. The reliability is more important to me than saving a few dollars at the pump. We are buying it as our camping and overlanding vehicle. It carries a ton of gear and can go anywhere we want to go. It is perfect for what we want to do. 5 years from now we may re-evaluate after the new Land Cruiser, 4Runner and Tacoma's have worked through all the bugs. I cannot bring myself to buy the first year of a new generation of a vehicle that we will be taking out to the middle of nowhere.

Love it man, thanks for the comment. I agree with you, tried and true is tough to beat in today’s market. So many “features,” are unproven.

@inttruders Any changes for the 2024 besides the new Tara color? Also did the dealership allow you to speck it out without those dealer markups or add ons? Thanks in advance 👍

    • @inttruders
      @inttruders 11 месяцев назад +1

@@dgracias12 The sheet they showed us had no changes for 2024 other than the new colors Terra(brick red) and Underground(Grey). This could change since they have not even officially announced the 2024's yet but, the dealer seemed pretty sure this is it . Our dealer let us spec it out the way we wanted at MSRP. We had to call around to get MSRP because there are still markups on some trims where we live.

@@inttruders Thanks for the response! I currently have a 2014 Tundra SR5 with the TSS package(magnetic Gray). I did a lot of mods like a 46gal tank, chrome delete, heritage grill, 2019 led complete headlight housing and other stuff. So I will definitely keep the Tundra.
It's also paid off which is why I would be paying $50,000+ for a 4runner without a trade-in. With these interest rates, it's going to be difficult to financially justify paying $900+ a month.
That Tara looks great on the new Tundra but I want to see them(4runner) both in person.
Congrats on getting it at MSRP. Make sure you stick to your guns and not allow the dealership to add those add-ons. I've heard people say they got stuff they didn't want. A dealership near me adds $3,000 for ceramic coating, and some other crap that would cost you $1,000 at most.

The dinosaur 4Runner is the best mid sized SUV made period, its dependability and resale is 2nd to none, being built 100 percent in Japan these vehicles are truly the last of the greats!!! all automobile manufactures are building cheaper vehicles and asking more money for them. we purchased a white 2023 40th year for MSRP and love it!!!! good luck

I know those new models are coming but I’m still looking into buying a low mileage 2022 or 2023 4Runner within the next several months anyway! 😊

What it might lack in modern day technology it makes up for in reliability. Engine has shown it’s one of the most well built, less things inside to break, and a huge modding/accessory community. I’m looking forward to the new gen, but seeing how Toyota has been going, it’s going to be $$$

Do we own the exact same vehicle lol? I also drive a 2022 army green TRD ORP “plus.” The “plus” is b/c of the front facing camera. I am getting the 2024 TRD PRO once it comes out and keeping it forever.

I bought a 2023 4Runner. Maybe I’ll think about a new one in a few years, but I wouldn’t want to buy in the first couple years of a major redesign.

The 4Runner is “old” alright. It’ll still be alive and kicking long before every other modern vehicle even the new Land Cruiser hits the junkyard! 😂😂

I have a tenet that I always follow: Never buy a 1st year model of anything. There are always bugs to work out. Your 4Runner has been around for a long time-it is the most bulletproof version; after more than 15 yrs of constant refinement by Toyota. I just purchased a new 2023 TRD Off Road Premium in Lunar Rock for the same reasons as you. No one knows what the new 6th edition will be like-I wanted bulletproof reliability as the number one priority. Don't know what part of the country you live in but if it can be considered the rust belt be sure you keep that undercarriage clean or rustproof it regularly. The frame is especially important and vulnerable for the long term.

TRD Off-Road Premium is the one to get...if I hadn't just bought my wife an Outback Wilderness, I would buy one now. I'm seriously considering getting one before the 6th gen comes out. The gas mileage is a bummer, though; if I can make it work by keeping my 2021 Crosstrek as a commuter, that would be ideal.

I think you've answered your own questions, get over the buyers remorse, and enjoy the 4runner. I've had my 2016 4runner trail premium with kdss since new and I've never looked back. She's my daily driver and overland vehicle. Deck her out and have some fun with her. I've got a four day solo trip coming up and so should you 😅😅 be safe out there.

Getting the 4Runner is a solid choice. Even if you want one of the new ones you are not going to lose money on the 4runner. Once they are gone their depreciation will slow even more.

    • @Levi.Jaeckel

If you get your hands on a 2024 4runner TRD PRO in Tara, enjoy it and keep the miles low, it's going to be worth the same dealer markup you paid or more. 😁 Just look at the FJ trail edition.

No. The cars are get built worse and worse every year. I guess if you want more plastic and cheap tin you should have waited.
They pretty much all junk. Just become bigger junk every year. Question is how crappy they can build them i think. It's like a competition on who can use the worst building materials and lowest quality.
