Thank you. I think this is Priestley's greatest play. I first heard a BBC radio version in the 1950s.I'm sure I saw a stage production somewhere in the 1970s. Now this performance I consider the most emotionally moving. It seems different each time. Priestley understood people better than his contempories. He had a mystical dimension.
Priestley's book "Man And Time" is well worth checking out. It's his rumination over the nature of time, determinism, premonitions, asynchrony, and lots of other things.
I felt dreadfully sorry for Kay in Act I when most of the party were dancing, and no one offered the prettiest daughter (at least in this present adaptation) a dance. In my mind, she was the prettiest, exceeding the highly venerated Hazel. So, I have returned a week later to pop this in, as I felt it was right to do so.
Thanks for this. I really do miss these dramas the BBC used to broadcast.
Saw this when broadcast and never forgotten - thank you for posting!
I enjoyed this immensely.
I didn`t want it to end.
I am glad it ended in the past and not in the future.
Thank you very much for sharing.
Thankyou it's a shame there are no plays like these on BBC any more ..
Marvellous channel. So many gems!

Many thanks for the upload 👍🏻 A great production 👌🏻The sort of thing the BBC hardly does any more, sadly 🙁

Thanks so much for sharing. I was not able to find this anywhere. The acting is so good.
What a Jewel! Thank you so much John!!!
Very helpful as an acting student
Wonderfully nuanced performance from the very beautiful Claire Bloom makes this play worth watching.
Thank you so much for this!

I felt mortal seeing that twenty year jump.
Thank you 😊
Brilliant. JB Priestley definitely wanted a Tardis….
Little Carol saying "I want to live" - just heartbreaking :(
