i take my hat to you tater for walking that long, this is why you titled it solo adventure... And for the fruit you ate, it is called santol or cotton friuit in english, it's not poisonous....anyways keep safe brother...
What I like about you is you being straight forward & you don't sugar coat.Your videos are very raw & fresh. Stay safe & thank you for exploring the Philippines
I wouldnt walk that long. I admire your enthusiasm. The fruit is called santol, it's pretty sweet when ripe. I have never hiked St Mary mountain , Didnt know this exist.. i envy you. Buko halo halo is awesome.
Now THAT'S HALO-HALO :) And served in a coconut too! 🥥 When the Buko vendor said it's good for the stones, he meant kidney stones. But yeah, coconut juice is like natural Gato-rade. That's why you felt revived while drinking it. The views at St. Mary was great, but the place doesn't look too well-maintained. I guess they were hit hard by the pandemic and recent Taal eruption. It's good that it was overcast. I don't think you would have been able to walk that far if the sun was out. But yeah, i thought the rains finally left you alone Tate. The ending burst my bubble, lol. Btw, thanks for encouraging everyone to visit our humble country :)
Yeah I had no idea what he meant by the stones, I thought maybe the volcanic ash/rock made for very tasty coconuts or something haha. The rain stopped for as long as I needed it to thankfully 😂
That walk and your halo-halo just won my thumb and subs. Especially the walk, wc for me means you trust your surroundings and and the pinoys around you. Always ingat on your adventures, Jacob.
I just subscribed! Doing binge watch of your vids here in the country. I must say I salute you for walking that far, the view is amazing!!!! Thank you, I haven't been there but I felt like I was actually there with this vid. BTW, the fruit guy was selling you 20 pesos for the bigger fruit lol and it's called Santol. You ate it the right way haha.
Thr fruit is called Santol. The main part of the fruit there are the seeds which are coated with cotton like sweet juicy stuff that you can suck on. Once you get all of that stuff from the seeds, you have to spit the seeds out. Sometimes depends on the type, some inner part of the skin are sweet enough to eat but some varieties are too sour and bitter to eat. It's perfect to dip with salt.
I love your videos sir. Next time go to Misamis oriental, cagayan de oro to be specific. I lived there for a like 8 years. But now i currently live in San Diego CA. Wish you all the best 👍 and be safe.
I am from the Philippines and you make me want to go home right now ! Halo - halo by the lake . (You’re vids are the only ones I watch from start to finish. You keep it simple and real ) . I like it that way.
It is a good thing you have a very positive attitude; that’s why you are enjoying your travel; that was santol; you just eat the pulp if sweet you will enjoy it; they can pare the skin off and you can eat the rind which is often sour; glad you enjoyed the “ buko” you can also enjoy the pulp especially if it is a young coconut; “halo halo ( mix mix in English) is one of the pride of the Philippines; ENJOY!!!
That fruit is called "santol", the english name is cotton fruit, you can only find that in southeast asia. There's a very unique way of eating it. You peel the outer fruit until the pink pulp is exposed after that you score the pulp lattice wise, that's when you roll the peeled/scored fruit over rock salt. Only then can you eat it. Don't worry about Batangas people, the vendors there are honest and you actually got a good deal only because you would insist on getting a single piece which is a good strategy to try out things. Thank you for helping out my countrymen.
@@tatertravels no, no.... You ate it like majority of Pinoys do. Those who don't have the patience just take the seed and munch on it till all the flavor's gone. However, some Filipinos are up to the challenge of peeling it, scoring it all over then rolling it on rock salt.
Thats the rwal halohalo we talking about you got it bro.pretty look yummy delicious and the Taal volcano view along the lake are awesome this is pretty good place to stop by view. Enjoy your stay.

I would have priced it at P25 or P30 because you’re breaking the bunch/grouping hehe. I think he didn’t have a scale with him. At home, I pickle them with salt and sugar and water for a week (after peeling the outside part but still keeping part of the cover flesh). Or I make them into santol juice.
