I remember when I was younger, as a kid, Slash was the only boss where I deliberately plugged in a second controller, and threw in another Ninja Turtle, just so I could have a distraction, so I can attack Slash while he attacked the other Ninja Turtle. Whenever the other Ninja Turtle died, I just continued the game without the second controller. Slash was such a bitch of a boss.
Fictional 2020: hover boards, clean space, holo lights, electric flying cars, jetpacks, world peace, balanced economics Real 2020: *stares out of the window*
We all agree that the first battle against Shredder is one of the most creative boss battle ever. Right? Also the best addedum in the SNES conversion of the arcade.
I've always liked this version a *lot* more than the arcade version. More stages, more bosses (including bosses for stages that didn't originally have them), and, most notably, more precise controls (you can control when you start running and control when and how you throw enemies; in the arcade, throws are random and you can't *stop* yourself from running).
I have the Arcade1up TMNT cab, and Turtles in Time's arcade version is on it. I went into watching this video thinking that I'd compare it to the arcade version, and I figured I'd like the arcade version more---but I can see it's got more levels and more variety in bosses, and with you telling me the controls are better, that cements it in my mind: the SNES version is superior, and I should see if I can get my hands on a copy! EDIT: the Cowabunga Collection for Nintendo Switch has BOTH versions of Turtles in Time! Yee-haw!!
Even though I miss Metalhead's spinning jump kick animation, I think the SNES version of this game is so much better than the arcade version. The arcade version always felt unfinished for some reason.
I got the TMNT Cowabunga Collection. What's weird is the arcade version doesn't have the technodrome as a level where as SNES does. Than for pirate ship level on Arcade version bosses are Toka and Rahzar. Where as SNES version on pirate ship level. Bosses are Bebop and Rocksteady. On SNES version Toka and Rahzar are on technodrome level.
Also now every time I fight Toka and Rahzar on TMNT games. I can't help but quote TMNT 2 Secret of the Ooze. "Didn't we see these guys on WrestleMania?" & "Wait, before we fight we have to do the traditional prefight donuts!"
@Silent That's only because you were a kid. As kids we didn't play with any real strategy back then lol. I did a run of this a couple years back and was surprised at how easy some the fights were lol.

One of those good o' childhood games I once played with my cousins! I can still remember them like yesterday.... One of the many games that takes real skills to play through the whole game, since credit limits is a real challenge here; running out means you'll have to play all over again from the beginning, and there's no save points, either! But then again, so is the retro games from yesteryears.... I see that you also played Hard mode as well; the ending is the only solid proof. A real mean feat for sure. Both krang fights were the hardest two for me. Usually by the time I got to them I was out of lives. Still my absolute favorite game as a kid. Took me years to beat it. The graphics were phenomenal for that era as well and hold up very well
I'd take their timeline of 2020 over ours any day. Because, let's be honest here, the evil samurai with his army of robots, aliens, and mutants wouldn't be so bad. Plus, we get hover-boards, I rest my case.
In the time warp sequence, they should have had the dinosaurs, Ancient Greece, the Middle Ages, the pirate ship, the train, the skyboard, Starbase and back to Technodrome for the final battle with Shredder!
One weird thing on this game is that when you are fighting Rocksteady and Bebop is that, when one of their energy runs out, they both start fighting and killing each other seen at 11:55.
You have to hit Slash in the back. Thing is it's kind of hard to catch him because you get a small window of time before he turns and knocks you on your shell.
Yeah, it took a while for both me and my cousin to figure out, but once we got the hang of it, it just become a second nature. Slamming enemies left n' right is fun, but throwing them towards you from the other side of the screen? That was awesomely satisfying!
Yup. To throw the enemies into the screen, keep pressing left or right while executing the throw. If you want to do the triple slam throw instead (useful for clearing out groups of Foot soldiers around you if you're getting mobbed), press up or down while executing the throw.
In the arcade you see krang's body in the arcade incide his dmall ship once you beat it, but here looks like they painted that image over in the snes port.

Absolutely...
Its one of the best snes games easily. This game is timeless.

Definitely
I truly appreciate the fact you let the announcer introduce the levels that's one of the reasons i loved this game along with the epic boss music

I love that Rat King’s machine that you fight in this game is in the background of his boss fight in Shredder’s Revenge. 😂 That’s a nice detail.
For real? I didn't see that detail when I played it
What's cooler is that this machine was actually a vehicle toy for the 1980's playmates tmnt toy line Called the footski.
Oh man. Definitely my childhood right here. Hours of fun playing with my bro and cousin.
Props to Konami for recreating the opening intro to the TMNT Show as faithfully as possible!
