Arcade bosses flashed for one reason. They had an indicator that they were close to dying, which made players more reckless so they could finish the fight faster. Of course, usually the bosses got smarter and faster as the fight progresses, introducing newer techniques. This was all done so the player could attack without hesitation, which resulted in player damage, which resulted in loss lives, which resulted in an artificial means of making more quarters being pumped in since they're so close to beating that boss. If the boss had no such indicator, the player had all the time in the world to be patient, strategic, and smarter with their lives. The arcade devs who dangle "you can finish this fight" in front of the player can squeeze out more money.
@@user-BAKEDBEANS The arcade industry had a lot of tricks they used. Like some brawlers had enemies laugh at the downed player if the continue screen was up, forcing you to get back in. And some bosses had IK moves to force more quarters.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve played this since it was released in the Cowabunga Collection. It’s a great pickup and put-down before work in the morning!
The first arcade game will always hold a special place in my heart, from its sounds, and music, and how it mostly was a game that always seemed to be out my reach growing up, giving it a sort of legend-like status to me as a kid (who was a tmnt fan through and through, so imagine how much it sucked that I was rarely able to play it), but when it comes to quality turtles games, Turtle in Time is the closest to perfection as they can be.
Yeah, the first one was like playing the first episodes of the cartoon (the best ones) and the arcade cabinet was gorgeous. This one cranked up the goofiness and difficulty.
Turtles In Time and now Shredder's Revenge is now officially Canon boss are similar on Shredder's Revenge also even the music somewhat sounds like a update! TMNT VI : Shredder's Revenge I'm getting this also August 31st.

Toka and Razar followed by a Shredder room boss that you have to throw foot bots at the screen to beat. 3. Slash is the boss of the prehistoric level. 4. Leatherhead doesn't use knives all the time, only for 1 attack.. He also has a cool attack where he crawls on the floor like a real alligator. 5. Beebop and Rocksteady are the bosses of the pirate level and are actually dressed as pirates. 6. Shredder turns into Super Shredder as the final boss. Also he does not use light saber.
That's really weird. I distinctly remember playing in the Arcades and Bebop and Rockseady were the pirate bosses and on the SNES it was Tokka and Razer

Last and only machine of TiT I ever got to play was at one of my local Play N Trades, they likely still have it in there too. Was a dedicated TiT cabinet too.
It’s like Rahzar and Tokka they only appeared once in the original cartoon in the seventh season in 1993 same with Dirtbag and Groundchuck who were all 4 bosses in the Turtles 3 The Manhattan Project game for the original NES
Arcade has better sound and graphics, but overall the SNES is better with Bebop and Rocksteady, Rat King, fighting Shredder and Super Shredder as well as the Technodrome level. Main advantage the arcade has is 4 players, but I prefer the SNES version. I also say the damage sound effect is more satisfying in the SNES version. When you hit bosses in the arcade, most of them sound as if they are made of water, which doesn't sound appropriate to me. It feels and sounds more satisfying in the SNES version for enemies and bosses.

Well gee, several hundreds of dollars hardware versus a cheaper hardware made for the home market. Nah, that can't be it, now can it. I not only like the SNES version better for having more stages and better bosses (for the most part), it also had far better control. You could turn auto-run off and had full control over throws (which you had to master to beat Shredder in the Technodrome).

I remember in the first TMNT arcade game, after rescuing April from Bebop and Rocksteady, she gives one of the turtles (whichever one the player was using) a kiss on the head. This intro makes me think that Raphael was the canon "lucky" turtle. 😏

Did he just finish my childhood's toughest battle in 13 minutes...?
God, I miss the 1990s! I think I’m gonna go drink heavily now...
Did James and the gang really agree to do this?
cool sprite rotation!
Love how the mud boss explodes when defeated.
when Shredder faces one way, he holds his sword in his right hand. when he faces the other way, he holds his sword in his left- he's ambidextrous! Yes, I know it's an old game, I'm just saying.
2:02 that awesome victory music.
They left some interesting things out of 2020 "neon night riders"....😔😔😔
Is it bad that I wish this game went full circle when it comes to ports? By that, i mean an arcade port of the SNES port of the arcade game.
You have to remember that these rental boxes are a lot more powerful than the home consoles and computers you'd have at home at the time the SNES was new.
Great job in kicking the Foot Clan around! Enjoy the 🍕!
